Great movie.

Arrested Development is referencing Rolling Thunder with this line, right?
Tommy Lee Jones says it to William Devane when Devane comes to him with the location of the whorehouse where his family's killers are.

This film was so fucking badass. I goddamn love the ending.

Good catch.

Great movie. Goes great with Death Wish. Too bad Schrader disowned it. Other than Taxi Driver it's probably the best thing he ever wrote.

What he envisioned in the original draft was a lot more introspective. I still dig the end product. From what I've gathered from Schrader ' s original, Rane is completely in the wrong, and shoots up a bunch of Mexicans just to feel relevant, he doesn't get the fellas responsible. Supposedly there's some subtext about immigrants dindu nuffin.
Mr.Majestyk is another piece of vigilante kino.

This movie is locked away somewhere, never to see the light of day.

The original script was dogshit. Schrader's an idiot. IIRC there was a terrible fan-fiction scene where Rane walks into Travis Bickle at a drive through. All the changes made for the movie were for the better.

The aforementioned "Mr.Majestyk." The book had more to do with Chicano problems irc.

The novel was written after the screenplay.

I stand corrected. I really wanted to enjoy "Vigilante," the intro was excellent, the rest of the movie was rather mediocre.

i knew the script was completely different, but i never bothered to read it, so i never knew about the travis scene
it's really bad, feels too cheesy

One of the best Bronson flicks for sure. Just the plot alone is great.

A personal favorite of mine.

I did enjoy Bronson ' s character in "Death Wish, " not being a veteran. It's an easy way to explain why X Character is resilient and badass. Although if I recall hs character had some familiarity with guns.

Wow. Is that real? Surprised he didn't have Rane look over at another car and see George C. Scott staring at the porno and screaming "THAT'S MY DAUGHTER!!!!!"

kek

Reminds me of this, which goes on for three pages.

Schrader expanded universe?

His character was a CO (conscious objector) during the Korean War and served as a medic or something.
A guy he met through his architect job taught him how to shoot.

Alan Moore must be loving it.

The massacre of the melons, was quite a scene. AL Lettieri sure does good villains, he really got under my skin as Rudy in the getaway.

Never been a big fan of straight up rape-revenge. In Death Wish, there's an overall statement on helplessness and taking back control. In rape-revenge, injustice and retribution begins and ends there. Then again I don't know if there's a revenge movie out there with a man being sodomised, and going after his attackers. With men and revenge or vigilante justice, there an theme of overhauling the system or pointing out its inadequacies, or protagonist could just be a nut seeking meaning. Thoughts?
