Considering that that's pretty much how he figured out he could fly, yeah.
No, Mark survived from having his stomach torn open (not an actual hole punched through it), and that was with his dad bandaging, nursing, and feeding him for 2 months. The only others to survive a full blown chest wound are Eve (rebuilt herself) and Immortal (his power is resurrection).
to my knowledge no one else survived huge gaping holes in their chest so far.

I don't think it was handled all that well. Almost feels like a fakeout. it was too fast, and too clean. Like, maybe shes actively holding them together and will burn out, and fall apart "the sword" style, or will die immediately next issue, "kubo" style.

They were beaten unconscious, and Oliver had an arm and half his jaw missing, AND they were stranded in space; but they survived that AFTER a spaceship came and found them a few days later and put them in nursing pods.
I don't remember any time they only survived as a brain.
Olivers brain may still be ticking there, but I dunno if they can repair a heart. Also, Thragg Junior may still be revived with the same concept too (brain is still alive). But both would be pushing the limits of bullshit.
