A good amount of this makes sense and I agree these movies are formulaic, but some of this is pretty forced. Loki and Red Skull do not have similar powers to Thor and Captain America, and Malekith has nothing to do with Thor's past. Suggesting that the dude in the cave is Tony's father figure is also an enormous stretch. They were more like friends.
Also, doesn't it work out with Pepper at the end of IM1? Am I not remembering something right?
