because the 2010's are the worse decade ever concerning entairtainment.

because

Our sins

"If you can draw, tracing won't hurt.
If you can't draw, tracing won't help."

Land can't really draw.

Bullshit, before films existed is far worse because there were only like 4 forms of media

came here to post this; quads speak truth.

As long as the artist gets the book done by the deadline, he gets a free pass no matter how shit he is. Look at Greg Land; he STILL gets jobs despite all of his books looking like porn movies.

i dont even understand why would you need tracing or reference to draw such an basic pose.

That's not Land though, that's Salvador Larroca.

And I swear he traced a Ganassa drawing as Boom Boom in X-Force.

Greg Land makes his deadlines. Marvel loves people who make their deadlines.

Well, Land still can't draw.
... and neither can Larroca.

I remember when that old guy was a bit of a meme here

it's bizarre seeing him traced in a marvel comic

This
So Marvel don't give them action figures as a reference?

This is an outrage!

When a meme gets used outside of Sup Forums, it turns into Reddit and is ruined forever!

SAVE OUR MEMES!

I don't get it does Land literally trace things or does he actually draw but his drawings are near carbon replicas of the reference pic?

There was once a time when they were pretty good artists...until the whole photoshoppy shit started.

All's fair - Sup Forums spams stuff from real life, real life now spams stuff from Sup Forums.

This has gained some popularity even among non-comic fans and it pisses me off cause you know how often I see people making fun of the warped armor like "uhhhhhh isn't it METAL? Wow artist fail lmao" shut up Iron Man's armor is not some solid metal plate, you're making fun of the wrong thing.

Deadlines killed their artistic drive.

>Land can't really draw.
he was perfectly "house style" back in the days, he just devolved and went lazy. It's highly possible he can't draw that well anymore but still.

so in your autistic mind films don't existed before the 2010's???

Land and Larocca aren't bad artists.

Posts like this are poop, because it's just muh nostalgia and ew digital.

>Iron Man's armor is not some solid metal plate
Okay, but what's the function of conforming around his stressed face and teeth?

Artists who can't figure out how to express emotion without simple facial expressions.

Or just really stupid tracers.

It's not a stretch to say Extremis could do that, the point here is not really if it could though

Larroca actually is a pretty good artist when he wants to be. His iron man suits/detroit steel/anything robotic in that run almost always looked incredible.

X-treme X-men still looks absolutely great despite nearly everything from that era and penciling style (aside from the coloring) looking otherwise very dated. Probably his best long-term work.

>films don't existed
you were saying something about autism there, chump?

pls post moar

I'll take Larocca and Land over Deodato any day.

This. I don't read Iron Man, but even I know that his modern armors are all nanomachines that are fused with his body and crap. The picture shows them malfunctioning. I mean, hell, nanite suits going haywire and turning the wearer into some warped monstrosity has been done shit tons of times. You'd think people would be able to spot it at a glance.

all the best artists use an image for reference

even Alex Ross does it

You guys don't know what the fuck you're talking about to be honest

>what's the function of conforming around his stressed face and teeth?
sexual powers

>I'll take Larocca and Land over Deodato any day.
OH FUCK OFF.
That single image is better drawn & sexier then half of the other 2's entire careers.
There is plenty of bad points in his art, why the fuck would you choose that image it is anatomically correct and doesn't appear to be traced at all.

looks more like storm than carol.

>ross
>good
god i hate that shit, the lighting is terrible in everything

But Ross actually is fucking masterful and intricate. Land, Deodato, and Op's artist do the fucking bare minimum.

Deodato at least adds a little bit of detail and shadow (albeit too much) to his poser traces and tries to frame his scenes. Land and Larocca literally just trace the lines and send it to the colorist.

This.
His Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers work had the right about of shadow. His newest Thanos work especially has gone way fucking overboard.

Different user here.
No, he's saying the 2010s can't be the worst decade ever for entertainment, because there were decades worse than it. You suck at reading.

using references =/= tracing

was that even 2010s? feels like it was 2009

liefeld still has a core audience who'll add a few thousand orders to a book, weirdly

Once upon a time he could, though. Look at his stuff back in the 80s and early 90s. He was a solid house artist.

Thing is that he didn't get big until he started lightboxing for that uncanny valley photo-real look, and he's just gotten fucking lazy since then.

He's not the first or only solid house artist that unlearned how to draw (Larry Stroman immediately comes to mind), but he's probably one of the best/worst examples.

lol memes and feminism will help us win over the millenials.

>Sup Forums and other sites use stock photo for memes
>image gets pushed to the top of Google images related to "man in pain"
>lazy shit artist googles "man in pain" instead of taking 5 minutes to pencil a basic figure
>photoshops image, adds basic iron man costume details without factoring how metal suits of armour look like
>marvel sends cheque

Alex Ross is the comic equivalent of those guys who draw "realistic" portraits of football players for rednecks to get tattooed on their arms

Theres no way you're an artist if you think that. Alex ross doesn't copy a photograph like the guys who draw realistic portraits (which by the way isnt a bad thing), he romanticises and adds heroic proportions and features. His background people and normal folk aren't as much, but his superheroes are.

You don't have to like Alex Ross' art, but clearly you don't get it.

>darksied is PROMOTIONS

Seriously how is copying memes okay?

The narwhal bacons at midnight

given the way some people on this site abuse memes outside of this site it's exactly what they deserve. One time I encountered someone talking about the cultural importance of the word cuck, in detail, huge walls of text, and it was one of those moments you just stop are stare and your brain gives up because you've never heard anything so goddamn stupid before.

The guy was from reddit but I blame certain boards here for his creation.

Has anyone figured out who the model is for his Stripper-Death yet?

MAHVEL METHOD BAYBAY

Because it probably made him laugh when he picked that reference. When you draw for hours every day, you have to entertain yourself or go crazy.

>When a meme gets used outside of Sup Forums, it turns into Reddit and is ruined forever!

But that's true.

(You)

There is joke going on among illustrators that "every kind of cheat is allowed as long as you don't break the law", some take it more serious than others.

>doesn't appear to be traced at all

I literally laughed OUT LOUD. SURELY you're joking? You must be.

Land makes cool looking monsters/aliens, good action scenes and sexy X-women
why do people hate him because he isn't as subtle using references as Ross or Sorrentino
he doesn't do unique things like Henderson but thats no reason to complain

larger version

what I also hate is that artists like bachalo take some google image and use it as a background
most of the time it's full of pixels and compressed to shit because otherwise it would cost too much to print

I'd rather have Land than Bachalo/Ramos/Marquez and all those old guys who phone it in super hard but no one calls them out

This is my personal favorite. How the fuck do you not think you're going to get found out? at least like, change the shapes of some of the parts or remove the studs. I get painting over stuff when you're in a pinch but it takes like ten minutes to at least hide it.

That's the half truth!

in one of the recent iron man issues stark tower get blown up and they show the rubble from the tower
turns out it's just a traced picture of 9/11

Does anyone really care about this?
In-universe explanation -- Bobby really likes Legos.

It doesn't even need a no-prize.

The Tau are canonically a part of the Marvel Universe too apparently.

I've never understood this one. It's so obviously intentional and silly. Must feel weird to put a dumb little easter egg into an image and have autists on the internet freak the fuck out.

And that is what gets me
If it they just happens to be influenced by a work, OK that happens even to the best of us.
If you wanted to make some in joke, OK as long as if fits the style and is used in good taste (obviously one offs and joke characters get more leeway with this).

But now that the Internet is scanning and rebroadcasting everything, it spoils the fun of finding these little gems. It also doesn't help that these things are sprinkled on like snowflakes in a blizzard. I never really looked that hard, but now I trip over them all the time. Like some sadistic Wheres Waldo book were there are so many real Waldos you can't not find him in 5 seconds.
Bottom line it is not fun anymore.

It is a problem!

>I'd rather have Land
Land is one of the few artists that will keep me from reading a book. I can put up with a lot of shitty art, and I have, but I draw a hard line at Land.
