Weekenders thread. Pass it on

...

The only reason this was popular in the early 2000s is because people had a crush on Lor and Tish.

That and people wanted to be cool and hip like Carver.

Honestly I loved watching it because everyone changed their outfits every day, like you would in real life. That blew my mind as a kid.

drink that frosty chug-a-freeze

This was such a comfy slice of life show

I liked it because it was just a group of friends hanging out in cool places. Lor and Tish weren't exactly waifu bait.

Tish is basically human Cadpig, who IS waifu bait

Loved it as a kid, just a group of friends hanging out on the weekends when most kids shows focused on their school lives. That and how every episode had a pizza joint with a different theme each time it showed up.

...

I remember really liking this but thinking back now can remember NOTHING about it.

No stories or characters or anything. Just the title and the art style.

Feels weird.

You should rewatch it. It still holds up.

I hated this show because I was jealous of their friendship.

I remember the pizza place that kept changing gimmicks

I liked it as a kid because it had drama and plots I could relate to. I like it now for the waifus.

Think I might actually. I normally come here for the comics so haven't really watched any cartoons in years. Will stick it on.

She gave the best advice and was dam fine too, what's not to love?

And nice background element it was.

So glad we managed to get this imaged fixed in the last weekenders thread

I watches it for the theme song.

Vaguely remember this.

Did it get an ending or did it just drop off?

It just kind of ended, but it wasn't a show with any sort of on-going plot so there wasn't really much that needed to be resolved.

Final episode was Tino spending a day with his dad. It didn't exactly seem like an ending, but was at least a notable enough event to be the final episode.

>Tino's divorced parents are still friends
>Tino's mom's boyfriend gets along with Tino's dad

This show was so pleasant.

Yeah, reminded me of my own family, I could relate to Tino when it came to him not liking the boyfriend at first.

Nah it had really good writing
the cute loli are the reason i like it -now-

Post cute Lor

the best girls have an impossibly large number of brothers

Did they ever say what her first name was?

evidently not. weird, I never noticed. usually I notice that

Did they ever have pineapple pizza?

I brought pudding

iiiiiiiiit's muffin time
muffa muffa muffa
muffin time

I LIKE POINTY THINGS

...

Oh shit, I totally forgot about her.

haha, those things are wacky. little short giraffe with stripy legs. who has just stripy legs? just body, sure, but what good does it do to be legs

Had to look online and see what this thing is

ah man okapi came up in like every 'interesting animals for kids' thing in school or out.

I didn't see the bottom of the picture that well, really thought she was trying to let him know his trunks were lost to the surf...

now that would be a good episode
i feel like they were good enough friends to be comfortable with that sort of thing, after an initial girly shriek from tino, or a similar one from carver, only without covering himself, and they're like what, and he reveals he's only upset to be no longer wearing his fashionable trunks
the girls are too european and sporty respectively to give any fucks

Carver was a tryhard poser who's self worth was too strongly influenced by what other people thought of him.
I never wanted to be like him.

he was a useful lesson though. he's a very common and sadly accurate negative stereotype of black people, but it wasn't being used to mock, but to warn. hey arnold did something similar as I recall, when gerald made a lot of money with genuine business savvy, but spent it on self-aggrandizing with no thought to helping others or responsibility.

I watched it to see what gimmick the pizza place would have every episode
>inflatable pizza

How much fucking money did that guy have to keep chamgingbthe pizza place every week

didnt he explain it in one episode? eccentric millionaire?

Did they?

nah i'm probably thinking of something else

Carver was also a closeted crossdresser.

Or was being blackmailed by his older sister into buying embarrassingly frilly girl clothes that his friends could ask about, undermining his masculinity.

I had Hawaii.
It was good.

That is a good pizza

All the money, because:
>large custom-made roof signs (some anamatronic, all requiring a crane he had to have owned for as much as he used it)
>interior decor items
>interior paint/wallpaper
>costumes for him and his employee
>development of gimmick menu items
>paying of health code violation tickets (multiple instances of farm animals posing contamination risks)
>time needed to plan, execute and/or invent (like the pizza printer, but then he got things together rather quick for his one-day Tish theme).

everyone forgot about her horrible food...

This was always an enjoyable watch.

Doodled a Lor for the rare Weekenders thread
even though Tish is queen

Still not enough porn out there.

you have to keep in mind that it's natural for men to want to be flashy and flamboyant, it's not their fault that post-80s only women's clothing is like that

hey not bad m8
agreed. i should really make some. if I can make henry and june look good I can do anything.. maybe

I liked it because it made me wish I lived just a walk away from a boardwalk with all that fun shit to do.

This show was surprisingly well animated. If only more shows nowadays would aspire to this level of fluidity.

Bump

>Wayne Brady will never sing you a live version of the song

Edit for applicable situations

Godspeed son.

Who's the artist for this? I see his/her work every time there's a Weekenders Thread.

Hey guys, Bluke brought pudding.

The guy's name is spolooge.

Simon
good luck looking up more of his stuff

That's not Splooge that's Simon

I fucking love that user gonna save that

I hope you don't mind editing it to say Barney
fag when nature said oops

they are easily confused

Do they have tumblrs or something? I'm finding it hard to track them down.

...

Simon's a recluse, like I said, good luck

...

He's a pedophile that doesn't want his actual illustration job be ruined.

then he wouldnt release the stuff at all. having a gallery with an alias is no different

Kaatyuun

Yeah, if you're blind.

it's easy for us to say, we know both
but if you only know one of them, and you see the other, you're like 'oh that's a slightly unusual-looking one but it's familiar enough it must be that guy'
first time I saw splooge i thought it was just weirdlooking simon art

Now conoghi and early Simon that's hard to tell apart

>hair dye

>tfw you'll never be Cool Rich And Popular like Carver

The differences are quite clear.

The dialogues is what made that cartoon so great
They actually spoke like persons. Not childish shit (anything old), not adults from the internet (anything new), just like kids their age

oh splooge isnt who i thought he was
nevermind then

>What's haggis?
>If I told you what it was, you wouldn't eat it. Actually, you wouldn't eat anything ever again.
>yum....

Who are the last two in simon's side?

The bottom two are Any Malu and Jennifer Shope.

I remember the mom always made the weirdest dinners for Tino

And they celebrated the Winter Solstice.

Carver's family celbrated Kwanzaa (what with 90's shows and Kwanzaa?) Lor's celebrated Christmas and Tish was Hanukkah

they were trying to be inclusive, but they were too clueless to understand that kwanzaa is actually really fucked up, and invented by a straight-up psycho
it's not surprising tish's family would be some kind of jews, weird eastern european countries were often not very nice to those.. but it would have been funnier if they had showed us weird european christmas or something totally made up. let carver's family be the jews, like sammy davis junior types.

hnngh doesnt even begin to describe it

>Ummm.. is that guy in the parking lot giving out free physical exams really a doctor? Or like, just a nurse? I just wanna know how much I'm supposed to tip

Jesus

think about it this way
if that was the one in all the animal crackers and noah's arks and such, the giraffe is the one that would look bizarre to you

The mom was the best character though.

Hump my hips, user!

is this a thing that decided to become a zebra and changed its mind halfway

It's not illegal if she isnt real.

it just misheard the rocky lyrics and decided to acquire the thigh of the tiger
