Can we get an art evolution thread going?

There's something fascinating about seeing what time and practice does to an artist.

Dead comics thread?

Dead comics welcome, I just wanna see art that improves/changes

I was going to make a Paranatural version but I was making myself sad while gathering panels.

>tfw I wanted to read this but ded
Elspeth comes to mind.

Best bros. Hidden card storylines are by far the best part of collecting cardboard crack, and it's really a shame they don't do this kind of stuff more often.

>kill la kill

This needs to be updated to add his true final form:Gagagigo The Risen

Gunnerkrigg Court shows a gradual shift of style, pic related includes chapter numbers

Cosmos Jester started out like this in 2009

Now does stuff like this

those are always hilarious because they don't mean shit. you don't know the age of the artist, and how much time of practice actually went through it.

another one from 2011

balls

Actually this may be older, 2009 is the date on the wordpress site but he set that up later on, there's no way he improved that much in just 2 years

>art style got worse
This is greatest fear. How the fuck does this happen

It's what happens when you draw one thing over and over again for ages because your brain and hand develop little short cuts that are "close enough" to what you were doing before but collectively they shift the image so far that the style degenerates.

E.g. "I was drawing a really angular face before which took me some focus but if I flick my hand like this when I draw the chin I can skip that step and save 2 seconds"

If you're drawing a bunch of different things or are doing art for single pieces instead of an ongoing story like a webcomic then this happens less often and is easier to notice.

tl;dr it's what happens when an Artist thinks they've reached the peak of their ability and then relax about the constant improvement that other artists are always doing.

>having played Yugioh since early college
>remember this little guy because he was an honorary member of my Dragon deck
>little nigga's been through a lot of shit since 2006

How strangely emotional.

...

Holy shit, I had no idea that card had a backstory.
He's been through a lot

What happened to his lady friend?

Darwin was wrong

>started out as a run of the mill monster
>pretty weak
>met and befriended some magician girl
>became much stronger
>became a bandit or some kind of mercenary. Not really alligned with any side in the Orc wars, but still hates humans
>fought humans, but his life was saved by a human soldier
>wanted to pay it forward
>sacrificed himself for another human
>dies, and is resurrected by a mad scientist
>brainwashed and turned into a weapon that fights humans once more
I hope they continue with this, its starting to get good

Age isn't as important as the practice portion.

It's always surprising when you finish reading a webcomics and occasionally flip from the last page to first. So contrast. Such wow.

Classic.

Sometimes you cut corner to speed up.

Des this artist do porn? Because I feel like I've seen a similar style in porn.

kek, thanks user I appreciate that.

But they did user.

>Get's rid ofthe tumblr nose

In all seriousness, I really like Nimona.

Why? It's complete shit. The art alone is some of the worst shit I've ever seen.

>3 mat rank 4
i remember when r4nk was okay

I think the artist wanted to find a happy medium between the anime style of the first few pages and the much more detailed style of the middle, unfortunately the middle was the best.

Gagagio OVA when?

Whenever I see this artist I just think about how someone basically dropped an essay about them on some shitty fractal art I posted in the scraps section of my gallery.

>when an Artist thinks they've reached the peak of their ability and then relax about the constant improvement that other artists are always doing.
>mfw I'm at this point
oh god

I've forgotten, what happened to this guy's brain again? Schizophrenia?

30ish is the peak of Gunnerkrigg's art in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure it was literally an experiment where some dude was asked to draw a cat while on LSD.
