Wakfu

Six episodes in, the writing isn't very good.

But damn, the animators are outstanding.

Overall, I think I'll stick with it for the plot.

>for the plot

Yeah, sure.

It gets better

Around the 11th/14th episode mark depending on who you ask, but trust me it gets better

Watch the Dofus show and the Dofus movie if you haven't already.

Stick until the boufbowl arc (ep 10, I think).
Sadly, a lot of good ideas in wakfu aren't used up to their full potential.
I like it for what it is, but it could be so grand with only a few minor tweaks ;_;

Let's hope that season 3 being a netflix exclusive will change that.

If you think the writing is bad now, you haven't seen anything yet. Assuming you're in for the long haul, that is.

Season 3 isn't a Netflix exclusive, though.

It'll be more young adult/grown-up than previous seasons (Tot's words, not mine), but not an exclusive. They're gonna try showing the first episode some time soon.

Maybe let him finish wakfu first.

>Adamai x Lady Echo

Can this meme die?

Why did they give him obongo lips?

Really makes you think.

How is it possible to do nothing wrong, yet be such an unsufferable little shit?

>Someone bought/commissioned Adamai porn
Just when you think you've seen everything

It's with S3 Adamai?

Guys I just finished the OVAs and now I think I know why everyone hates them... They made no freakin sense! I mean, they were fun, the fighting was cool, the characters are cool but the plot was horrible. Suddenly there's 12 Dofuses? And dragons that were never once mentioned before? And why did ogrest eat them? Adamai was always a dick, but I feel he was acting a bit OOC. They nerfed the hell out of Joris, and Pinpin and Eva were acting weird. IDK I liked them because I love the series but in the end they were thoroughly meh/10
I hope S3 can redeem the series and there's still two more Dofus movies to look forward to right?

>Suddenly there's 12 Dofuses? And dragons that were never once mentioned before? And why did ogrest eat them?
Transmedia!

The dragons and their Dofus is from the games and the older media, it's not out of the blue.

It might as well be...

wakfu is thoroughly mediocre/below average but the art and animation kind of makes up for it.

they blindly cross reference shit which is one of their biggest flaws.

>And why did ogrest eat them?

For the love of one of Sadida's Divine dolls. They do strange things to you, man.

considering the fanservice of bringing nox back I'm not real sure its gonna be great

99% sure that's just a flash back type deal...

Being funded by Netflix though and they own most of the English speaking territory rights

I totally respect that opinion, and lovely trips.

The writing is quiant as fuck. Get rekt mate.

The movie is good but the writing in dofus weaker and too soft, especially after coming off wakfu

>uddenly there's 12 Dofuses? And dragons that were never once mentioned before?
TOP KEK. You fucking secondary. It was awesome as a lore fag. If you didn't already know what Dofuses were by then you deserve this. There are WAY more than 12. It's just that some or more special than others. Dragon dofus>others. Primordial dragons>dragons. Cosmic Eliatope>primordial. Too easy. I bet you dont' even know that the council of 12 are literally the decendants of the cosmic dragon, creator of the Krozmos and all know existence.

(you)
Secondaries shouldn't have to be spoonfed. Accept new things when the story introduces them or actually learn the lore, your choice.

>They're gonna try showing the first episode some time soon.

How soon is 'soon', user? You're killing me here.

Source on that?

Where are you getting the info from?

I swear the only time I've ever heard someone call someone a secondary is on /jaypee/

>going on /jp/
My condolences.

Tot has these newsletters and there's the new Gamakna online magazine. One of those should have it. They're struggling to get it shown because both France4 and Netflix want to put the boot down. Even though it's what they promised the KS backers way back in 2013 or so. I guess they see the show as lucrative enough to deny Ankama the satisfaction, then.

Finished Adventures of Kerub.
Comfy as fuck, though I wish there were more episodes focused on present time rather than another story about Kerub and Lou being shitty to each other.

Would've allowed more fun Joris shit and maybe introduce Atcham better.

Why is Omega Shenron in my Gaulish animays.

He's insufferable because no one gives a fuck if they're doing the wrong thing, and rather than leaving them or killing them outright he tried time after time to make them see reason.

Now that he's made new friends who understand him he'll hopefully be much better.

They already did, actually. One user dropped spoilers several threads ago. Didn't read them, before you ask.

I wouldn't say no to more Atcham. Fucker can be pretty badass when he wants to.

>Having to scavenger hunt material across multiple different platforms just to understand a TV show when animation already makes a superior medium to convey a story.
I mean, whatever you gotta tell yourself.
If they could consolidate the lore and backstory into a more cohesive movie or something that would be great. I read the manga whenever its available and that's enjoyable as well. Too bad it's A) slow as fuck to be produced B) hard as fuck to find online and C) in french...

Where else do I funpost too who?

>he doesn't try and teach himself to speak French
Regardez le paysan.

It'd be one thing if Wakfu/Dofus was this huge, popular thing that had all of its information readily available but it's not and your fans have to go on what's basically a scavenger hunt to understand each new entry, you did something wrong. That was one of the most prominent criticisms about the Dofus movie: they had no fucking idea what was going on.

>Binge watch the Dofus series in five nights, getting to love all the characters and how comfy it is
>Finally reach the final episode, feel kinda bummed out because it's over
>Go immediately to the movie to cheer myself up
>Kerub going legendary warrior mode one last time and dying
FUCK

>>Go immediately to the movie to cheer myself up
You poor sod.

A-at least Lilotte was absolutely fucking adorable and Kerub's last fight was really well animated.

Also, why is she so perfect?

Is there a viewing order guide for Wakfu, Dofus, the movies, shorts, etc.?

...

Thanks!

Even more disgusting

>Try out the Wakfu game to fill more of that Wakfu/Dofus itch, start with Huppermage because Bakara is best girl
>Boring as fuck
>Try out different classes to see if just the Huppermage is shit
>Same results, boring as fuck
>Decide to check out some Dofus gameplay with the Huppermage
>Everything looks so much better, big extravagant animations for all the movies, constantly juggling status effects
Why, why is it fucking subscription based?

Wakfu is not boring if you're playing with friends
MMOs are all about socializing

>Hail Qilby

>commisioning fucking adamai

>They already did, actually. One user dropped spoilers several threads ago.

Here's the thread: archive.is/qGLRJ

I don't have any friends

Even if you did, you don't get to bring friends

Anyone got the webm of the fight between Atcham and Joris?

They work for the watch maker man...

IF I PULL IT OFF, WOULD HE DIE

please fuck off with your pathetic underage/manchild newfag meme spewing shit you autistic fuck, that shit doesn't fly in Wakfu.Dofus threads.

Alright fine you fuck.

It would be extremely depressing

>when you're nothing but dust held to together by sheer will and determination

Updated, and I tried to streamline the watching order and remove some of the older, less relevant info. Suggestions for improvement always welcome.

Elely holds the fucking universe in her eyes.

pour vous

For Yugo

What in god's dick is this?

...

Enutrofs can fuse with their mole pets to form the Drhellzerker.

Yeah, Wakfu is honestly fucking terrible. 20 minutes and Nox's backstory are about all it has going for it outside of fap fuel.

Boohooo muh scavenger hunt.
It's really not that hard. The fact that you don't know it by default makes me definate you're a new 'addition' to these threads too. Again, look or ask around and enjoy the universe or go 'ahh' and just deal with it when there happens to be one or two things you don't know.
It. is not. that. hard.

The ending to S1, followed by the Nox movie, is what really hits home.

That's Kennoarkkan art.

Dude just draws whatever for the most part, and finds people to get behind the paywall.

Basically its just a move some get in the MMO being shown in the show.

Its not even the strangest thing Enutrofs can do, let alone everyone else.

There needs to be an OVA surrounding Joris raising Atcham and Kerub.
I want to see them young and on adventures.

I also want to see an old Indie react to baby Kerub

As a guy who follows everything Wakfu since 2010, helped a bit with the subs and was responsible for working direct download links in these threads for almost two years... Fuck you.

Ankama is retarded for not even trying to explain basic rules of how the world and races work in their animated shows. An explanation would take under a minute and make it all smooth sailing from there, but instead we get things like Nox looking Xelors (he was super unique till that moment) out of nowhere in ep. 11 and we have no idea what is going on. I can talk lore all day now, but I was confused when I started watching and had to dig to learn the details. This should never happen in any medium. Again, take 10 seconds to explain things, especially if you have a kid in your show who can ask those questions for the viewers so it won't feel grating. Yes, you risk slight repetition from time to time in dufferent shows or media, but you gain coherency and you do not alienate new viewers. Not to mention your world becomes even richer in the process.

You shouldn't have to follow the glacial speed moving mangas to know why Phaeris wasn't in the OVA's or why Ogrest is big and bad now. Just take a fucking minute and tell us, Tot you stupid fuck.

I'm starting to think Adamai will have a personal vendetta against Pinpin. Ad abandoned Yugo because of Pinpin's decision in the OVA to go after Ogrest.
From what Napoleon said in the previous threads Pinpin and his family will get fucked by Adamai. Maybe Ad tries to get to Elely and Flopin since they are Pinpin's weak point.

Oh no, we pissed off an important namefag.

Oh, wait.

who here /yugo/

>we
You and... Who else, exactly..?
>pissed
Rather earned pity, but whatever.
>important and/or namefag
Hahaha, nope. Project harder.

The only reason I mentioned anything is to prove that even the older fans hate Ankama's policy on not repeating a story or explanation ever, even if it is buried in comic most people watching the show never read. Telling people to dig for MORE info is fine, telling them they HAVE to dig for BASIC info about things which constantly appear in the show but are never explained there is a sign that something is not right.

Hell, this is the reason why good people here made all those infographics about races and stuff. As much as I love their animation, Ankama is a mess of a company.

>It. is not. that. hard.
See, that'd be true if this wasn't a niche. little known cartoon meant for children in France with next to no English sources up until recently. Even then it's just the 2 seasons + OVAs with a few comics sprinkled in.
I've consumed as much material for the series as I could find/was posted over the years, and I'm sure there's still some shit I won't know because I didn't read some one-off book based off a random side character from one episode that never got translated or do a quest in the game that 40 people still play.
>Ankama is a mess of a company.
Been around for 6ish years myself, and I agree. I feel like they're trying to be bigger than they are, and maybe have been for some time. Them realizing this shit was popular anywhere other than Breadland probably threw them through a loop 2-3 years ago. Now, though, it's a bit late to capitalize.

Oh wow, "older fans". I jacked it to Amalia back in 2007 when we only had promo posters, so what? I don't think being around long gives you any street cred on Sup Forums. Sure Ankama make dumb decisions, I just don't see intermedia references being one of them.

In s2, Rushu mentions using Eliatrope magic to enter the Wo12 before and Adamai or Joris mentions a dragon totalling Bonta centuries before. You'd have to buy the Dofus ongoing comic to know the details, but this doesn't detract from the story in the tv show.

>we
My shit posting and gate keeping is my own. That said
>I w-was on the subs team
Sure he was.

The lore isn't that hard. Scav huntfags make it sound so difficult. They are secondaries. All of the most basic stuff has been done to death in threads and even info graphics. Admittedly there's more obscure lore but it hasn't come up in any of the shows I've seen.

>I helped the sub team
Does that give you some authority. While subbing is based sub teams can have some serious fucking autism, or they used to when they still existed in any real way.

>just the 2 seasons + OVAs
And the two MMOs. The 2 spin off eliatope games. The 5 or so comics of varying eras. The other one off OVAs. The Manga. The official comic. The two series based on the MMO. The websites. The threads which used to be really lore heavy AND the infographics for lazy faggots.

There are loads of sources for loads of info.
>b-but they don't repeat lore
The games sure do and so do the shows. The show explained what dofus were, just because you didn't know there were primordial ones shouldn't be an issue. It was already shown there were non-eliatrope ones with the wawabit episode.

go back to sa

...

I don't recall the writing six episodes in being anything in particular, neither good nor bad, it just kinda was. Though the settings terms was a bit confusing and unclear at times, there was that, but even so I felt it was minor. At least the things that came up so far.

>authority
Hahaha. You're funny. Please refer to >imtermedia references aren't bad!
Ok. Time for a thought experiment. You just discovered the show on Netflix. You kinda like it. You do not browse Sup Forums, you have no idea about Kerub existing or that there are any comics (or you think they are only in French).

Why isn't there Phaeris in OVA's? Who is Ogrest and why is he bad? What's the difference between a Iop and a Sacrier? Please base your answers only on what the show provides.

This is a show made by a medium sized French company. Even Marvel does not tell you to watch Luke Cage to know who that one guy in the movies is, it's the other way round. Small things reference bigger things. The series should not rely on comics or webisodes to tell it's backstory, it's those comics and shorts which should take shortcuts from your knowledge of the show. Intermedia is not bad. The way Ankama does intermedia is. They almost act like they make cartoons mostly for the fans of their games and not a show for everyone to capitalize on the games' rich lore and catch new fans with a colorful world they'd love to play in.

I went into Wakfu blind and enjoyed it. Episode one a special boy and his special tofu motherfucker. I liked the sensation of being dropped in a completely alien world and learning about it slowly and organically. Exposition is gay.

There is a difference between jumping into a world blind and a giant plot point who is also a dragon disappearing with nobody mentioning him ever again.

I think that's what user meant by "plot".

>the only reason I mentioned it was to prove something and assert some authority as an older fan
If you didn't think being older made your position more valid you wouldn't have mentioned it. I was here pretty early too bud. Not super early, admittedly but I'm not fresh. Your opinion is your own and being an 'oldfag' doesn't help your argument. Especially when you're not arguing with new people.

>The 2 spin off eliatope games.
Islands and that shitty non-canon thing?

Anyway, my point with that was, outside of the big, "main" stuff, some lore/story junk that ends up being important can be a bit difficult to find. The websites are bare-bones and I'd hardly want to play an MMO just to figure something out in my cartoon. The comics/manga could go unnoticed too unless you sorta knew what you were looking for in advance.

It's a bit of a jumbled mess, especially for common, casual consumers who don't go on Sup Forums. The cross-media type stuff could be great, it's just not as well linked together as it could/should be.

That's a good point actually, as those who stopped with S2 going into the OVAs might end up being pretty lost as to where the super powerful dragon they rode off on went.

The show literally works fine without extra material. It just leaves some things vague as many stories do. Most stories don't lore you to hell and back, instead you just follow your hero and learn enough to keep up.
That there is more lore is perfectly fine. Did, at any point, not knowing that children can be born a certain race because they declare themselves for a God in Incarnum really hinder your wakfu experience? Did knowing that non-disciple humans or already devoted races get one last chance to back out or change to a different God in a ceremony at 12 hurt it?
Fucking hell. It's fun stuff but it's background stuff. You don't need to know the tenants of Xelor to know that his followers are powerful and OCD.
Until you watch Dofus you don't NEED to know how the God can decide what features to bestow on their followers and how many races changed over time.

>when you're just a Xelor and can't live for hundreds of years unless you have a super powered Eliacube to supply you Wakfu but then you lose it.

Think what you want, dude. I don't believe in fan cred or anything. I just wanted to point that even someone who is here almost from the start, not just new watchers who are "too lazy to search up info", can dislike how some parts of lore and story are presented.

The show also never dwelled on Ogrest. And even if you saw his film, you still have no idea why he went bad, where's Dathura and what are those other dragons since the show fails to clearly differentiate between various kinds of Dofuses (Dofi?) which exist.

Seriously, remember how many people in these very threads (which were THE place online to get your info and to talk about the show in other language than French) though Kris La Krass is a Iop like Tristepin? It does not require much effort or skill to dedicate literally a minute of screentime to explain how races and gods work.

The point is, some unanswered questions are ok, making the lore a bit deeper in different side stories is great, but never explaining the basics or important plot points of a show because "viewers can look it up online" is a dumb idea.

Its funny, after watching some Ankama videos (trailers for projects, etc) I now get ads in French on Youtube more often then not.

Sure there's shit you don't need to know, tiny shit like the Xelor thing, but there's plenty that you do, too.

Say I'm a casual viewer and I've only watched the Wakfu series and am going straight into the OVAs, some evil dude in a mask shows up as does some cat that Joris acts really friendly with. Eva had twins? What's up with this Ush dude? Who are some of these people who seem kinda important? Where's the dragon from the end of S2? Why are there more dragons, but without Eliatropes to go with them? Who's the bird guy who's interacting with a now baby sized Ogrest and why can he do that?

Does it hinder it that badly? Maybe not, but it does reach a point where I feel like I'm missing something that a simple Google search might not be able answer. Not to mention that some of that, even if unnecessary or small, helps add weight to the events on screen.
