Fuck my wifes ass while you're at it.

*death staring and lip chewing intensifies*

I'm just here for my dubs marty

Nice try, pretty close.

Past a certain age, a man without files can be a bad thing.

What kind of files was he talking about here?

>You mowed my wife's fine ass lawn didnt you!

God.

>"He must have painted his ears green all those years ago, Rust, it's the only explanation."
>"You might be on to something, Marty. Now let's go gang up on an unarmed, obese, literally mentally retarded hillbilly and still somehow almost both die."
>"We did it, Rust. Finally, after all these years... we became True Detectives."

Who does the psychosphere smell like

Salty milk and coins

>Past a certain age, a man who doesn't mow his own lawn can be a bad thing

Daddario's pusy.

based

...

Did you mow my fucking yard again?

it couldnt have ended any other way except stupidly

there was no way they were going to let the show actually end with the kind of red pills that it was leading up to.

And those red pills are...?

I agree. The set up was so good that no climax could possibly have matched it.

I don't sleep, I just collect my files, Marty

"I don't sleep, I just dream" is the hardest unintended laugh I've ever had. I actually had to pause it and laugh for a good while. Literally the *breaths in* meme. Rust so fucking ridiculous. He IS /ourguy/.

I mow, MY files. Rust...got it?!

found em

every scene of them in the car is pure gold

I'm actually not sure if Pizza intended those scenes as endearing comedy or deep discussion. With the skill of the depiction of Marty I'd say the former, but then I watch interviews with him, and I lean to the latter.

Never lean on a ladder, Morty, I mean Marty

I think he wanted them to be deep discussion, but Woody knew this was crazy.

So...was Marty a member of the cult ?

Just goes to show that the genius and lifeblood of the show was Fukunaga, Woody and Matt. Pizza gave a great frame but if he scenes were ever obviously purely his creation the show went to shit.

I mean. Look at S2. We have

Strong Independent Woman Cop
>muh knives
>muh porn
>muh past

Corrupt Washout Cop
>muh son
>muh addiction
>muh past

Closeted Warrior Cop
>muh career
>muh sexuality
>muh past

Amateur Philosopher Gangster
>muh pride
>muh wife
>muh past

It was dogshit despite memes to the contrary. The show's above average cinematography, memes and the constant belief it would get better carried.

Pizza is a complete hack. Fukunaga turned water into wine. And I agree, most of what kept me watching even S1 towards the end was the belief that something amazing and climactic was coming. That said, episode 5 of season 1 is one of the best episodes of television I've ever watched, up there with Calling All Cars from the Sopranos.

that the elite and family trees have been doing satanic sacrifices for years and pizzagate is real

Do we know whether or not a stunt ass was used in that scene?

That ep is good, but I wouldn't go THAT far user. Calling All Cars is impressive in all ways.

>tfw last Ziti

"I don't sleep, I just dream" is obviously meant to be a joke. He goes and says something bizarre straight after Marty asks him to stop. Come on guys...

None of these are criticisms at all. S2 was great, and if that's how you want to criticise it, you may as well work for the Guardian.

Only character I didn't like was fag cop otherwise I enjoyed season 2.

TD is just personal taste for me. Objectively (or as far as you can apply objectivity to the rating of TV) Calling All Cars is better in every way, but I totally buy the characters of Rust and Marty, love their chemistry, love the comedy of their interactions, and love when they band together. It's purely down to personal preference, but the atmosphere that Fukunaga created in TD appeals to me a lot, so it goes up with the Sopranos for me.

heh...amateurs

fuck me man

His wife and her father were

What's valid criticism?

True Detective retreads similar ground to Season 1 in which a conspiracy between members of high-society is the initial focus, but doesn't fair as well due to the atmosphere. Splitting the screen time among 4 main characters instead of 2 amounted to less development and a heavier reliance on tropes. Those tropes were further explored in a way where there wasn't much of interest there. There's also an over reliance on each character's past. To a certain extent that could be argued as a theme, but the series doesn't take advantage of that and the past becomes a sit of glimpses into more compelling narratives that drive the present. The series was well acted, but the script and cinematography were certainly a step down. Its set pieces also revolved around more spectacle and stretched the plausibility of the scenarios alongside poor CGI. It employs a time-skip, but its short duration reduces any depth. It philosophizes, but its spread across every character and there isn't enough push-back. It also suffers from a truly negative ending which fails to stir the emotions it desired. It's also guilty of setting up mysteries with meaningless payoffs. TD Season 2 is bad prestige television, especially when compared to its predecessor.

Let me know if that's valid user

>push-back

you'd know all about this eh, fuccboi ?

>not taking the opportunity to make a blowback joke based on Jaxposting

Confirmed for pleb

Yeah that makes sense.

>Splitting the screen time among 4 main characters instead of 2 amounted to less development and a heavier reliance on tropes
Explain. This assumes that every scene with Rust and Marty was developing them, when that's really not the case. Not to mention that Rust development really ircks some people. TD S2 was a tradgedy where the main characters fall foul to their own faults. It did that very well in my opinion.
As for tropes - of course you can take them as a theme explored. Maybe it's not explored enough for your liking, but it looks at plenty of subject matter - not only do the characters have issues unique to them, they all have issues with their parents, and with a sexual 'dysfunction' (maybe more if I'm forgetting).
>but the script and cinematography were certainly a step down
Why do you say that? Some scenes are very well shot and deliver an engaging atmosphere - just look at the first major bar scene for an example. Whilst there are some bad lines in the show (blue balls) a lot of lines that people complain about are quite clearly meant to be awkward - because Frank is out of place; he's trying to be something he's not, and not being successful.
>Its set pieces also revolved around more spectacle and stretched the plausibility of the scenarios alongside poor CGI
It's big shootout was very effective - you really get the feeling that things have just gone straight to shit, it's spiralled out of control and you're left shocked like the detectives. Not to mention it did a good job of showing the differences between the characters (how Paul reacts especially).
>It employs a time-skip, but its short duration reduces any depth
False. You can quite clearly see that the characters have been affected by the events, even to details like Ani smoking cigarettes instead of the e-cig.

>It also suffers from a truly negative ending which fails to stir the emotions it desired.
One of the scenes I always see people point to as a highlight is Frank's death. Personally I was quite surprised by how much I cared about what happened to Paul, and Ray not sending the message was very grim - it made me feel sorry for him.
>It's also guilty of setting up mysteries with meaningless payoffs
You do realise it's a noir?
>Let me know if that's valid user
It's certainly more valid than whatever the other post was, even though I disagree.
(2/2)

I saw the big street shootout scene. So over the top and ridiculous that was enough to scare me away from S2

>we're gonna raid this armed compound
>should we bring SWAT?
>nah lets just grab some kevlar and wing it

It's almost like the city is corrupt, and they were being sent in for an ambush.
Oh wait.

You mean these?

checked

You'll do this again. Time is a flat circle.

Alright alright

woah, woah. i'm just here for the BRAAAAAPS, Marty.
