See . For as much as /sug/ seems to hate her, there's a large portion of the audience (mainly preteen/teen female viewers) that views her as a relatable cute little warrior girl. There's also Connverse shippers and whatnot, so.
I'm actually not too surprised about Rose being there. She's not featured in too many episodes, but she's still a central character in the show. Plus, she has more marketability (badass pretty pink plus sized warrior waifu) than Greg (good character, but not much in the way of design). Still, I think there would've been enough of an audience to buy him.
I'm actually kinda hoping this turns out like an Adventure Time wave 2 situation. The original wave 2 was Princess Bubblegum, B-MO, Lemongrab, Fionna, and Cake, but then Gunter got added later on.

There's honestly so many options they could go for too, I don't know what they'll do for future waves.
Greg seemed like a no-brainer for this wave, but he wasn't included, so idk what his chances are for wave 3. Ruby and Sapphire, despite being part of Garnet and ridiculously easy to make merchandise of, have little aside from t-shirts and mugs (even Watermelon Steven and Onion have more!). I could see them getting in next time though. Jasperdemption will also most likely have happened by the time they do another wave (8-18 months), so she could also be a shoe-in too.
Fusions are surprisingly untapped in terms of merch. It'd be amazing if they made a set of 6" figures for the main 3 CG fusions, and also a 10" one of Alexandrite. A standalone figure of Stevonnie would also be nice.
The Diamonds will almost undoubtedly have more appearances by the time we get more figures, but whether they'll make merch of them is another question. They would look good as 6" figures, but I don't know if they'd have the same demand as the other gems.

Yeah, Steven and the Stevens is ep 22. This pre-Lapis, back when gem tech was referred to as "magic", we didn't know about any war, hell this was before we even knew the gams were aliens. So yeah, probably didn't have everything quite worked out.
Still though, Sugar is well known by now for not leaving anything alone, so I can't help but feel she'll eventually jigger up a back story for that hourglass. Probably has something to do with the skull monster in the pilot.
