Jonah Hex Storytime - Tallulah Black 10th Anniversary Part Deux

Storytiming every single appearance of Tallulah Black in Palmiotti and Gray's Jonah Hex, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of her debut. And now it's time for Mother Fucking Issue Fifty. If you've read it, you know what's coming. If you haven't, you are officially in for it.
Part One is over here:

Taking over art duties for this issue is none other than the late, great Darwyn Cooke, his second of two issues in this volume.

Cooke ;-;

Guest starring: just straight-up John Wayne.

Also, fun story: Palmiotti owns the framed original art for the last panel on this page. He hung it above his toilet.

>That last panel
Woof.

And once again, we are robbed the spectacle of Tallulah Black in a dress shop.

Well... that's a twist.

Yeaaah... Anyway, we still got one more issue to go on this volume before moving to the New52. And hey, y'know, it can't get much worse than this now, can it?

...

Ok, so this and the next page are the canon end of Hex's life, according to Michael Fleisher's Jonah Hex Spectacular, published all the way back in 1978.

This was also the very last issue of this series, drawn by Ryan Sook with an assist by Diego Olmos. And of course, it had to be called...

I can't hear Dixieland without thinking about this issue any more. I just can't.

And it turned out to be yet another hallucination/near-death experience and everything worked out juuuust--

--Fuck.

So... a month later came the New 52. Owing to his long-time friendship with Palmiotti and his own personal taste for all things Hex, DiDio agreed to add a new volume of All-Star Western to the relaunch line-up.
Dropping the single issues for a more ordinary arc structure with Moritat as the single artist (although others would handle the backup features), the new series saw Hex relocate to Gotham and team-up with Amadeus Arkham to chase down serial killers, child slavers, and in the current arc, a shadow war between the Court of Owls and the Religion of Crime. But nothing of that seems to matter to a handful of gothamite big-wigs currently holding a meeting at the Wayne Casino...

We'll have to leave it here for now, I'm afraid, since I got a previous appointment. But I will be back later tonight to post the rest of Tallulah's All-Star Western appearances. Hope to see you there! For now, remember...

Saw the thread title and just knew it would be you, Judge user.

You got me to pick this series up years ago and it remains one of my all time favorites. I was actually recently rereading some of the latter volumes.

Glad to hear! Also, thanks for keeping the thread bumped, fellas. Let's get back on the saddle, shall we?

So when we last left our heroine, she'd just been defenestrated out of the Wayne Casino by a rando cosplayer under the employ of a shady-ass real estate tycoon.
Ah, Gotham.

...

...

And now, ladies and gentlemen... the official Tallulah Black Dakimakura.

...

...

Dammit Jonah, don't rub it in like that...

...

...

And now, five of the best pages you'll read all year.

...

...

...

There were a few elements in this run I don't entirely agreed with. The inclusion of Amadeus Arkham was never one of them.
