Looking through Raven and Paul's episodes, so many are plagued with off-model issues, but all of them done at SMIP all have consistent good boarding. Granted, most of those done at SMIP are plot-important episodes ("Warp Tour", "Rose's Scabbard", "The Return", "Gem Drill", and "Earthlings"), but "The New Crystal Gems" seems like it was animated there, and it doesn't seem like too serious an episode.

Actually, now that I checked, literally every Joe/Jeff/Colin episode was done at SMIP, except for "Say Uncle" (a gag episode where off model animation is more acceptable) and "Rose's Room" (which has thinner lineart + slightly off boarding). I get that they get preferential treatment bc they're the "on model" team, but it'd be interesting to see how a newer episode boarded by them would look if it were animated at Rough Draft.

What the everlasting...
The mental gymnastics required to devise this stilted dialogue is immense. First, this show has no problem calling gendered beings by names that aren't usually applied to people of that gender. Second, up until they considered naming it, they were fine calling it "it", as one does when speaking of nonperson animals of indeterminate sex. Politeness to guard against offense does not apply, even were its sex never to be determined in its lifetime.
So, to believe this dialogue, Steven has to think of it with enough personhood to want to avoid offense, give it a girl's name instead of a gender-neutral name like "Pat", then still use the singular "they".

But the ordinary leaks are from on-demand TV service providers which provide previews and screenshots for all shows, it just happens that for SU they are especially spoilery. Out of This World was just someone fucking up and uploading all 5 episodes when it was meant to be only the first one. In any case it's in CN's best interest to keep ratings up, it's not like high ratings forbids them from cancelling a show

The body type in the concept design is the exact same as Steven and Amethysts. If it made sense for them to suddenly combine their weights on fusing, shouldn't every fusion be at least chubby? Steven has been shown dieting and has lost weight over the course of the show. It might just be lazy animation, but he's actually pretty skinny now. Amethyst has a slight visible weight on her waistline. Smokey looks like she's wearing a barrel.
