Remind me again, what did he do that put him on the same level as Hitler? I mean, ironic enough, didn't he do the exact opposite; stopping a gas that would kill millions? This is some fake news shit.

Don't try to think too much about it, Marvel clearly doesn't, so why should you?
Just accept the fact that Cyclops will always be painted like that even though he was right and move on.

It looks like Kidclops is reading a site called either Inhuwatch or "Inhuwars"

You know, Infowars, the conspiracy rag pandering to morons fronted by a con man that sells magic water filters that make you ripped?

...does everybody just forget about all of the Phoenix Five bullshit?

TO BE FAIR

heroes do atrocities and then become media darlings that did nothing wrong again in Marvel all the time.

Iron Man.

Nothing.
With the Phoenix shit, it only started going wrong because the Avengers wouldn't leave well enough alone, then he mainlined a crazy corruptive Cosmic Force as a direct result of Avenger actions.

Then he went underground to protect mutants, and ultimately did at most some slightly morally questionable, and illegal stuff.

And then he transmuted a gigantic roaming cloud of gases into something harmless because it had already killed Mutants and was going to kill more, despite it being culturally important for a small group of religious nutjob Supers who are for some reason allowed to kill for their religion.

Something which Marvel's moral fucking paragon Storm is now 100% on board with, despite decrying Cyclops strongly beforehand, and in fact continuing to fucking do so while she prepares to continue exactly what he was doing, which was apparently "evil".

> He didn't ask for the power
> He took the power from the members that abused theirs
>Was working miracles all over the world
>Killed Prof X while high on the complete phoenix and under attack

It only happened because of the Avengers getting involved, hence still did nothing wrong

The X-Men literally only saw him as evil because he killed Professor X under the influence of the Dark Phoenix. You didn't hear any of them decrying him as Hitler during Schism.

The bullshit of the Avengers knowingly deactivating the Pheonix Force until it was in the hands of a man that literally had reason to wipe them out as they stormed his independent nation to kidnap one of citizens?

Don't forget that part in which Captain America pissed on Cyclop's sea otters.

As of this scene, what the public and the heroic community at large believe about Cyclops is that he managed to destroy a poison gas cloud without harming or even inconveniencing a single living soul, thus saving the lives of thousands and giving his own life to save theirs.

Worse than Hitler.

>and giving his own life to save theirs.
He didn't give his own life to save jack shit. Black Bolt tried to arrest his ass (something he had no justification to do) after the cloud had already been dealt with. He refused to comply, and Black Bolt summarily executed him.

Alchemy gave his life to save theirs.

Fuck, I bet Alchemy's Ultra Mecha Hitler.

Clearly, what Marvel is trying to say is that the Holocaust didn't happen and that Hitler was just unfairly persecuted for trying to save the Aryan race.
That, or they're just incapable of writing. Your choice.

He had his movie rights bought by Fox.

Why is Hank Pym a wife beater, but Peter Parker isn't even pre-OMD despite punching his pregnant wife across a room?

Marvel needs to fix it's shit.

Seeing as every single one of their events since Avengers Disassembled has literally hinged on no one sitting down and just talking shit out even though the whole of the Marvel Superhero community are, at the very least, at the level of good coworkers in terms of acquaintanceship, I'd have to go with the later.

Because Peter's fucking untouchable.

The actually answer is that no one read the entire story the slap came from and some writer in the 90s literally believed that women should never forgive anyone who hit them, lost their shit when they found out that Jan and Hank had eventually reconciled at some point, and spent the entirety of their career at Marvel perpetuating this idea that Hank was as savagely abusive to Jane as he is in the Ultimates.

No, we fully remember that they were making the world a better place until the Avengers started provoking them into another war.

And apparently Marvel citizens remember that too. They loved Cyclops for his Phoenix shit. They turned on him after he made the Terrigen cloud harmless... for some reason.

Probably because they're hypocrites.

>born with powers
FUCKING MONSTERS; DEUS VULT

>cloud that hands out powers for free
Everyone has a right to superpowers, you can't just hog them for yourself, mutie.

I love when marketing and bad writers pretend Peter isn't an extremely flawed person with the biggest inferiority and guilt complexes this side of the Milky Way.

>70% chance you'll become a horrible monster
>You have no choice
>Eliminating this lack of choice is evil

Yeah, but all most people would hear is "There's a 30% chance you'll come out an Avenger" and run in anyway.

>70% chance you'll become a horrible monster
>and be killed or just die outright

>also if you ever get exposed again there's like an 85% chance you get the monster/death treatment

>like a 1% chance you just kill everyone in a radius relative to how awesome your power is up to an area the size of a small city

If that was true Marvel citizens would be lining up for space tours so they can find some glow rocks to get powers from.

Paying to go into space where, as far as they know, everything is literally either Galactus, the Kree, or the Skrulls, most people would opt to wait for the magical cloud that hands out superpowers to roll into town.

You would think the holocaust survivor would go "Son, you're not Hitler, quite the opposite in fact, people throughout time have always needed a scapegoat or a poor excuse to justify their bigotry. So stand up tall and ignore their baseless claims"

or you know some pep talk so Cyclops stops crying in a corner everytime an inhuman curses his name when they stub their toe.

Hyperbole to create tension

So bad writing

How about Reed slapping his wife a couple times?

I would love that. Some Jew comes and says, "You have never rounded us up to kill use in a terrigen mist gas chamber."

Like two in five people that under go terrigenesis die painfully in their cocoon.

Normal people should be fucking terrified of the clouds.

Uhm. What?

How many times is Marvel going to "reset" its characters, turning them into kids so they don't have to take responsibility for the character's entire past?
