no
it is terrible, it is like the rogue one of capeshit
>teehee now I can finally be taken serious by watching capeshit for mature people as myself
No. Bad adaptation.
based brainlet posters
yes. Best superhero movie alongside TDK. Any other opinion is worthless and void.
>Dredd didn't happen
Dredd isn't a superhero, at least not in the movie
*tips*
Why ? Seriously curious
If the comic didn't exist, it'd just be some homo's idealized vision of masculinity. But as an adaptation, it's amazing how they missed the mark so much despite being faithful to the plot. Plot isn't all there is
First of all, the writing is far and above anything that Marvel can or wants to produce. This is down to the excellent source material that's adapted almost 1:1, down to the individual comic frames. Second, the "superpowers" are not even remotely the focus of the story. The only character with overt supernatural abilities is Dr. Manhattan and he's kinda aloof and disinterested so he's not exactly going to fly around punching people. Also, the story presents the viewer with ambiguity towards the characters themselves - very few of them are outright good or bad people. The music is great as well.
Basically it's just so higher quality than anything else in the genre that it's not even easy to illustrate
This. Aaannndd this.
It's nice visually, but they completely messed up the ending. Just read the comic book
to save billions
100% this
I fucking hated the pirate ship or whatever it was BS from the comic. Plus, a nuclear detonation made more sense than the weird alien shit at the end of the comic.
Aye
>snyderkino
>even asking
It had potential, but Snyder got his hands on it and all his "quirks" show up.
It's not a film, it's cinema.
Brother!!
> Plus, a nuclear detonation made more sense than the weird alien shit at the end of the comic.
But that was the point. It shouldn't make sense. In the graphic novel it was left open if Veidt had just gone insane facing the inevitable nuclear armageddon, or if his absurd plan could actually work.
...
...
Are you kidding me? its the best capeshit after raimi quit.
Its beyond fantastic and show heroes in a realist way that is logically solid with the political scenary and the influence they (would) have in the bigger scheme of things.
Masterpiece.
reminder ozymandias did literally nothing wrong
No, but it's a great movie.
Yes because Nixon is President.
/thread
>they have to be very small insects, so we can transport them
was Nixon slow?
Is Watchmen and BTTF2 Darkest timeline in a shared universe?
>Realism
>Logically
>Political
Why plebs like "muh realism" so much
A telepathic space squid creating a psychic shockwave to wipe out New York would work for fans of the comic, but it’s a bridge too far for random movie goers. The way they did it works better, and unites the whole planet.
Because its one of the main points of watchmen success, its litterally the only edge it has over other capeshit where they just live in a cartoon world where only a few things go wrong and everything else is good while in watchmen shit is just either rotting or rotten (like in real life), its what makes it believable, relatable and worthy of admiration.
Its like you haven't even watched the movie but decided to hate on it for social reasons.
but why watch a superhero movie at all, if realism is what you're looking for?
Well, I absolutely loved the telepathic space squid and was very disappointed they didn't include it in the movie.
Certified kino. Only thing that was missing was hooded justice lynching niggers
It makes less sense in the movie because Veidt intended to frame Manhattan. It wouldn't work since everyone knows manhattan is indestructible
from a purely film making perspective? Its a perfectly fine movie
from a "comic book" movie or "adaptation"....who the fuck cares. thats not how you judge Cinema as an Art Form
it was heavily implied that Hooded Justice was Richard Nixon before he became president
>Conservative Quaker acts like Mississippi Democrat
this is why I prefer Frank Miller
... moron
superhero movies are genre films, and genre films go through stages, primitive>classic>revisionist>parody
watchmen is a revisionist/deconstructed superhero movie, so it doesn't have the same characteristics as classic/primitive movies in the genre, one of the defining characteristics of revisionist capeshit is realism
the Dark knight is shit though, everything by Nolan is shit.
The only good superhero films are Raimi Spiderman, Unbreakable, and Watchmen
BECAUSE I CANNOT CONNECT WITH CHARACTERS THAT LIVE AMONG FLOWERS AND PONEYS FOR FUCK SAKE
Bad adaptation with good parts. Misses the point of the comic completely every chance it can.
I remember how the entire theater got very still and very quiet during the sex scene.
maybe.......
