His Cape Fear remake is a film that I genuinely enjoy watching. That classic score from Bernard Hermann, the cinematography, the story, the acting and the tension created. The Simpsons episode is on my favourites.
Tarantino apparently really likes Taxi Driver, and so do I. The atmosphere Scorsese created by combining the score (again from Bernard Hermann) with the great shots and editing just makes it so enjoyable to watch. It does slow down towards the middle though, and my attention tends to drift away.
Overall an excellent director. One of the best of all time.
I'd assume artsy fartsy hipster girls would love it.
add Clint Eastwood to the list
