>21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Walt Disney Co., leaving behind a media company tightly focused on news and sports, according to people familiar with the situation.
>For Disney, the opportunity to take control of another movie studio and significant TV production assets as it readies a direct to consumer entertainment streaming offering is attractive as is fox's significant exposure to international markets, such as the U.K., Germany and Italy both through its networks and 30 percent ownership of B Sky B. Disney recently announced it will pull all of its movies from the Netflix platform and will establish two direct to consumer offerings; one for sports and one including its key franchises such as Star Wars and Marvel.

Remember decades ago, when Disney was a hallmark of quality and talent?
Such a shame it's become a symbol of vapid, sanitized entertainment.

Disney doesn't have enough money to buy Facebook

Don't worry user, if you start to get tired of the expansive Marvel™ cinematic universe we are already planning the next Star Wars™ trilogy, you can watch episodes 10-13 or any of the annual spinoffs going into the 2030s to take a break from Superheroes. Don't worry, they'll still have your favorite characters, Poe, Finn, and Rey so you know what to expect.
Parker Nguyen
So in the cyberpunk dystopia of the future, Disney controls the entire media, Google the entire internet and Apple everything from cars to house appliances and robots?
Liam Richardson
Apple is at the end of its hayday. It'll be the other way around. Eventually every intellectual property will be owned by Google and Disney which will then be bought by the chinese.
Jaxson Bell
I concur, but all that will accomplish is having the Mouse structure itself like Samsung

It's time to stop living in a fairy land, mate.

Alien and predator movies are now yearly. You want more kingsman, right?

They buy better companies and use their IPs to make quick money with zero quality. Disney itself doesn't create any new content, they're doing the same as they do to the bought companies, milk the old titles

>Now they have the X-Men and the Fantastic Four and all the associated stuff
Get ready for Tony Stark to be the inventor of the Sentinels! Get ready for MORE IDENTITY POLITICS in MCU. Get ready for GALACTUS

Apple is going to decline soon. They aren't pushing any innovation. All they do is copy old technology and make a slightly better and increasingly overpriced phone. Their brand can't protect them forever whereas Disney don't even need their brand.

In ten years time it will be Disney vs Google vs Amazon vs Apple (they'll be by far the weakest)
Everything else will be owned by one of them. It will literally be like the boardgame monopoly HINT HINT

The strange thing is, that with the 2008 crash and the explosions of new technologies in the service economy and internet, people really believed that the whole "megacorporation" cyberpunk trope on monopolies was ending. Instead the reverse trend is happening, Google is consolidating itself as the king of internet media, while Disney is buying up all the legacy media companies.
Chase Reed
>Get ready for MORE IDENTITY POLITICS in MCU On top of what?
Thomas Adams
>Does this mean X-Men in the MCU?
Hopefully they aren't dumb enough to do this.
If they really must have a crossover, let them just cross dimensions or something.

>Don't worry they'll break into Disney A and Disney B when all media outlets are aquired
We've gone from 40-odd megacompanies to 6 in my lifetime with an imminent merger reducing it further to 5 or even 4 megacorps within years.
Nobody's really reacted yet because people are so fucking dumb and powerless that retaining the sub-brands works as obfuscation of Product A, B, C through Z are all owned by parent company A.
The illusion of choice is real and works wonderfully. Of course it only gets easier to maintain the illusion the more complete control you get of every single media outlet. Who is going to dig into the problem? Who's going to raise awareness? If you don't own them already you can shut them up.
The internet used to be a problem but they've locked that shit down good now. Wrongthink = shadowbans or deplatforming. "It's a private company" is parroted as a good excuse by even random retards.
The funny part is where people are deluded enough to think they're defending capitalism. This is the opposite of capitalism. No capitalist pressure works if there's no consumer option.
Levi Cook
>it will be Disney vs Google vs Amazon vs Apple What about based Microshit?
Joshua Bennett
tfw Disney will one day have a monopoly on entertainment as a whole and all mainstream media productions are homogenized board-approved hyper audience-tested safe potato chip shit for the rest of time
Tyler Ortiz
Why? Avengers vs X-Men could potentially crack the two billion dollar mark.
Brandon Turner
Doesn't matter whether Disney is controlled by (((Robert Iger))) or (((Ruport Murdock))), they'll still be controlled by Jews.
James Cruz
Yeah there's really nothing you can do about this. I guarantee 90% of people's reaction to this news would be 'awesome now we can have Deadpool in the MCU!!!!'
Parker Gutierrez
X-men would probably revert back to Marvel
Michael Hughes
Didn't they make every plebs favorite movie pulp fiction?
Leo Lopez
Mutants wouldn't work in the MCU. They would have been mentioned by now.
They could still do Avengers vs. X-Men by having some sort of menace threaten both universes.
Grayson Thomas
What interesting X-Men movies? Capeshit has never been interesting, no matter the company.
Parker Clark

Jeremiah Anderson
>Didn't they make every plebs favorite movie pulp fiction?
no, they used a company to distribute the film, you know, so it wouldn't be obvious for most people that they helped to release an adult film like that.
Big properties like X-men, Simpsons, Apes, X-files, all that will be fucked and replaced by really watered down versions of themselves
Parker Thomas
i hope the 90s xmen cartoon music is playing while pic related happens
Joseph Diaz
>Mutants wouldn't work in the MCU. They would have been mentioned by now. You can easily write around that either by having them a secret or have some sort of event turn the x-gene on.
