OP here, thanks guys for the recommendations! I've seen before Repentance, Ballad of a Soldier and The Cranes are Flying, gonna check out all the others!

Not exactly a movie but a tv show, it's god tier. Started in 70s and ended in 00s, only 24 eps but they feel more like actual movies. Crime\police drama, a fuckton of greatest Soviet actors, acting is superb.
I'm not sure if the English subs even exist but wouldn't hurt to search I guess.
