Draco should have been a girl. >first female of his age Harry meets >he and Draconia hit it off well >become actual friends despite being sorted into different houses >rather than a forced, horribly written rivalry, a tragic friendship that manages to hold despite the two growing further and further >Harry wonders often whether he was supposed to be in Slytherin with Draconia. All of his problems would be gone; no conflict between friends, his Parseltongue would make sense >book 5-6 their friendship frays horribly, ending with Harry carving her up with Sectumsempra (seriously, imagine how emotional that would have been, slashing up your longtime friend and partial love interest in the heat of the moment) >covering for him at Malfoy Manor actually makes sense
Face it, Draco should have been a girl with a friendship with Harry, it would have made for some great growth, made a lot more sense, and could be seen as a mirroring of Lily / Snape. Draco doesn't even act like a male bully or a childhood rival. He's a stereotypical mean girl. Rowling doesn't know how boys interact and so gave Harry and Draco a very effeminate antagonistic relationship.
The movies rightfully made many changes to the source material. Why didn't they change this?
>implying rowling would let them make an interesting female villain
Grayson Green
Christ Rowling is a hack. This is gold. Also more Femdraco pics pls

>rowling >doing anything interesting

imagine domdraco jerking you off!
Tyler White
Also his love between female Draco and himself would have paralleled the love between Snape and Lilly, his mother, allowing Harry to reach a deeper level of understanding and connection when it came to what drove Snape to become a death eater.
Cooper Green
Draconia only acts like a dom, in reality she wants to be dommed by the sword of gryffindor

these posts kinda read "anime-loving alt-right nazi" but I can't help but agree with them

Yeah and you get the whole stopping the cycle fixing the mistakes of the past cliché, it writes itself. It's so obvious in hindsight.
True but they can't be wrong all the time.
Robert King
Everyone knows her name would have been Draqueesha.
Mason Ross
Love or hate Rowling Umbrage is actually an amazing villain. Probably one of the most hateable characters out of any book I've read, childrens or not. INB4 contrarians on here start posting about "Based Dolores" and how "redpilled" she was.
Angel Scott
oh gay
Henry Sanchez
How can she be redpilled when she's the living embodiment of an establishment petty oligarch? But yeah Dolores is good. Weird that Rowling would right such a character. I can only assume she was based entirely on someone she knew irl.
Owen Phillips
Very good, user.

because she's revealed to be extremely racist to non-pureblood wizards and non human magical creatures, like the centaurs that she literally said were no more than animals. Also Rowling actually did base her off of some apparently racist co worker she had.

Perfect

Racism was hardly her biggest character trait though. I always just thought of her as a government servant stereotype. I figured the racism was just a reflection of whatever current government policy was.

No, I mean, she's supposed to be a horrible human being. I'm just surprised she isn't one of those people that get posted in "did nothing wrong threads" since you could probably get some (you)s off of her
Jason Powell
Given that you posted this thread on Sup Forums instead of /lit/, I'm going to going ahead and say that since Draco was a male in the books, making him a her in the film series would have deviated too far from the books.
Justin Ortiz
Well it may be because the only thing she really has that would cause that kind of baiting is racism. Everything else about her is stuff even nazis claim to hate and ascribe largely to their enemies.
Robert Collins
The movies are better than the books so who cares.

Ryder Anderson
I'm not saying the movies are that good when I say that. The books are just purely mediocre. And Prisoner of Azkaban is overrated.
Jackson Martinez
I sincerely doubt forced sexual tension would do much, if anything, to improve one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises.
Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though "No!" The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

I'm just going to throw a meme at you. This isn't even worth a real reply.
Asher Richardson
I completely disagree. You should watch the first two harry potters and then immediately see 3. The camerawork/cinematography, honestly everything in 3 is head and shoulders above the rest of the movies. Completely sells the atmosphere rowling tried to create, something only maybe sorcerer's stone and chamber of secrets managed to do, but with just way more artistic talent behind it. Also the soundtrack: youtube.com/watch?v=RR9kT8PL6ZA
Jackson Jackson
Heads and shoulders above 1 and 2. Comparable to the others.
Bentley Martinez
But every harry potter movie after 3 feels generic and action-y. None of the worldbuilding and escapist porn that makes harry potter good. Also they feel super rushed compared to the earlier movies. 3>>7>>8>6>5 when it comes to the movies.
Wyatt Ward
It wud be just like my animes
Dylan Davis
>None of the worldbuilding and escapist porn that makes harry potter good Ah here's our disconnect. I never felt Harry Potter had good world building or escapist porn.

Adam James
Hmm... well I have to go lift and shiet. I'll just have to disagree on the mystery of the main plot part. I hated how formulaic every book besides deathly hallows was, with there always being something that the characters figure out at the last moment, which conveniently ends in may of every school year, right before they go back for summer. I just liked the world building, which I feel is honestly underrated. The setting is initially sort of warm and comforting, but gradually gets more dystopian with stuff like Azkaban being full of soul eating monsters and there being a corrupt bureaucracy of people like Umbridge, which barely gets more racist or authoritarian when the big bad voldemort takes over. The books did a better job dealing with growing up and issues like death than they get credit for. youtube.com/watch?v=MrZB9nPMvS4

Doesn't even make sense. I mean, it makes sense that people would discriminate against them, but they're just as powerful as purebloods and they far outnumber purebloods.
Bentley Perry
>>he and Draconia hit it off well >>become actual friends despite being sorted into different houses >>rather than a forced, horribly written rivalry, a tragic friendship that manages to hold despite the two growing further and further Why does Draco need to be a girl for this? This would work even as a guy.
Easton Thompson
She doesn't do that until the Voldemort administration. She's just a hanger-on.
Because Draco acts like a girl.

That would have been actually interesting, so Rowling can't make it because it's not a shallow two-dimensional relationships that fits in her prejudices
