Toonami Ratings for 2/11/17

The NEW 10 episode season of Samurai Jack begins March 11th at 11:00pm. Apparently our bitching worked because it's no longer going to get fucked by having the Super rerun in front of it.

Adult Swim is funding two new 6 episode seasons of FLCL. Expected release is late 2017/early 2018.

Last week was another meh week, with Jojo being the big loser of the night and dragging everything else down. Also GitS did shitty just as I has predicted. This week Jojo managed to tighten up the drop from DBZ to a more normal level. Maybe finally having a girl show up got people stick around. But aside from that, pretty much the same as last week. GitS did shitty once again, expect that to be a recurring theme.

Nothing special here, Jack has been doing pretty ok since it started, so good chance it stays if it keeps this up

8:00 Dragon Ball Super 0.52 874 0.33 421
8:30 Samurai Jack (r) 0.41 667 0.26 335
9:00 American Dad (r) 0.49 718 0.30 379

10:30 Family Guy (r) 0.79 1221 0.54 695
11:00 Family Guy (r) 1564 0.72 921

face it, cucks, Jojo's Bizarre Memeventure isn't getting the meme season

And I'd say comedy reruns can thank OP and GitS for their poor numbers

Best Valentine

another year passes where waifus aren't real and there is no access to the 2d universe. Maybe next year

Well these two started us off, post your valentine waifu for this special day

Remember, no stealing girls, first come first serve

wait FLCL is going to be 6 episodes rather than 12 neat

always and forever

best girl claimed

It's 2 seasons at 6 episodes each. So 12 episodes

Don't follow Toonami ratings much anymore. Does Jojo consistently drop that much from DB's ratings each week?

yes
It's always had mediocre ratings

Last week it was gigantic, this week was more normal. Very few shows directly after DBZ have held most of the DBZ viewers. Dragonbabbies hate anime but lap up Dragonshit with a smile

yes but from what I read on Sup Forums awhile ago is AS only gave them a bit of funding time to read some updates

Yes, but so does everything. The more significant problem is that the midnight DBZ Kai airing has dropped significantly as well, along with Super not matching Family Guy's numbers at 11:30.

We haven't gotten any update in a year, the announcement was the last thing we got

claimed

Its saturday night. What'd expect?

Might be possible a huge influx of neets and weebs got friends or a gf since last year.

>it's a grasp at straws for excuses for the block failing episode

Every god damn week

its gonna come out in november and xmass will be ruined yet again

Atleast mines a little more realistic.

Doubtful, and the increase from Super should counteract against minor drops like that. The problem is that Dragon Ball isn't carrying it's weight because Super is split or people are getting fatigued by the excessive amount of it now. They really need to drop one of the Super airings (or move the later one to the end of the night or something) and move Buu kai away from Super.

maybe if they switch the airings and put kai final chapter before super.

you'd be suprised at what minor changes can accomplish.

That could maybe work too, but it could actually make the drop worse as well. (Since Dragon Ball exclusive people who saw the 8PM Super could now leave at midnight instead of 12:30.)

It really isn't at all. The answer is simple, people are just getting bored with the block. It's been almost 5 years now. The novelty is long gone, and the lineup sucks to boot

Both outcomes are possible.

splitting the Super airing between AS and Toonami is killing both timeslots

Yeah, which is a serious problem that they probably can't solve without hurting Toonami. (Since Toei is probably mandating the 8PM airing to air it at all.)

>Below 2012 numbers are now the norm.

Just put a fork in it, it's done.

Also, sandwiching a rerun between the premieres is never a good idea. I know I'm not the only one who just turns the TV on 30 minutes later since Super started and I watch the 8pm showing. Since the original Toonamo intros are long dead there is nothing lost from doing that. If they put a rerun in the middle id probably skip more

Tomoko saving Toonami when?

Keep telling yourself that. We've yet to have an anime on AS or Toonami pulled since Inuyasha years over a decade ago.

A third factor to consider, we should probably take a look at how the ratings for the rest of Adult Swim have changed over the last five years. There may not be as many casual Adult Swim viewers in general anymore to stumble upon Toonami as there once was.

That's obviously not a direct excuse for the block's performance, but it's a valid factor.

>Toonami will not take us away

what if the reason people arent watching, is because of the lack of slice of life/moe anime?

K on or Watamote for example.

>pic of headless girl

i remember when Toonami had enough content and funny comments from different anons, tripfags, and namefags that you could make funny videos out of them
I'd take those back, the awful animes Demarco got for cheap at a garage sale then what we have now

AGK Thread Simulator was gold

But Toonami will make you Gay

>No part three ever

There was so much prime time material, especially with that god awful finale

idk if anyone noticed but the girls who got raped and mangled in the AGK manga got a scene in the parade in the end of the show

we were all gay to begin with

In an ideal world she would already have done so.

Since the long-runner experiment crashed and burned maybe we'll get that again. If anyone remembers the Q&A they did for the 100th preflight they said they were aware of the complaints for the lack of short shows and said they had "plans". Might have been suit talk to take the heat off but I'm interested to see what they meant by that.

user, be real. slice of life/moe anime has almost never been successful in the US. Like, one might sell moderately well if it becomes a meme like K-On or Lucky Star, but generally the audience is really small here in comparison to action-oriented shows, even more-so if we're looking for the rare SoL/moe fan who watches the dubs of those shows.

If they were to air one, it'd be far more likely to backfire and do 600k numbers than turn the whole block around.

It wouldn't be pulled mid season but Demarco said himself P3 is guaranteed

It's obviously suit talk. There is literally no options on the table without pulling shows. And we know they won't do that unless one pulls abysmal numbers

When was the 100th preflight again?

Come on lad, that is antique bait and you chomped down without a second thought

So bye-bye One Piece?

So how you feeling ratings people? Having a happy V day?

Demarco loves OP too much to let it go but if this is real and not just suit talk then OP will most certainly be the first thing they pull

That's why I said abysmal. Bad isn't enough to get OP pulled as we can see

ThisLet's break down the schedule
>6 long runners
>until we hear otherwise a dedicated Gundam slot, but still the only short slot at the moment
>a rerun
>coming soon Jack expansion which probably won't be permanent

It's hard to convince anyone there will be change when the whole thing is locked down tight with no visible ways to free it up. The only thing I could see them doing is giving Jojo a break and putting something else for a rotation. Which I doubt will happen, and even if it did it's only a temporary solution since Jojo would come back eventually

Would ratings be better, if Toonami aired in the middle of the week, instead of a weeknight?

Glad to see One Piece cucks have finally died down about their show.

>if Toonami aired in the middle of the week
>instead of a weeknight

Is killua a bottom or top, he looks like a powerbottom

Toonami would then lose any sort of novelty it once had
There's not a lot left but some people are just fond of the idea of an edgy late in the night action programming block

i meant saturday night.

Yeah i meant on a weenight instead of satuday night.

twitter.com/ToonamiNews/status/831188024037765120

Super was the 5th highest rated program on Nielson apparently.

Let's just get rid of Gundam, HxH, and One Piece to free up the schedule.

still no
People have shit to do tomorrow
Toonami gave us a reason to stay up late during the weeknights, but now it's nothing to look forward too. It's boring and it's shit we can go to the internet for instead of waiting each day to tune into

Honestly Toonami doesn't have a place on TV much anymore and has been coasting off it's previous success from back when it was still cool and fun

what drives you to tune it every saturday?

You really think people will stay up till 3am on a work night for mediocre anime?

>what drives you to tune it every saturday?

This is a question i'v never asked myself before
Guess it's like why i come to Sup Forums to shitpost
It was a fun, new experience but now i'm only doing it out of habit
Had Channel-tans not been a thing i'd have left, or at least tricked myself into believing i was leaving, a long time ago

So it's like that, i'm only here out of habit, waiting for something nice and fun to happen

HxH is an actual world dub premiere, which is what Toonami should aim for if they HAVE to air a long-runner. Shippuden and One Piece aren't, they're years behind where the dubs are on DVD (specifically 4 1/2 years and 2 1/2 years respectively), so those should be the first to go if they need space.

sunday block is ded

I think we can all finally agree that ASA is how late nights should've remained as, and that bringing back Toonami was a mistake?

I'm pretty sure even with the mediocre ratings Toonami's still getting better ratings than ASA was.
Besides, without Toonami we wouldn't gotten to experience things like Space Dandy, SAO, and all the other shows that made this place fun before.

They should have just kept this as a midnight block but it's nice to know they're thinking of their veteran fans
It's just a shame though

I dom't mean from a ratings sense but from a show sense. Most of what came on ASA is better than most of what Toonami has brought.

mistakes can be fun and lead to great things.

ASA was on its death bed when Toonami came back. The last show they premiered, Durarara, had abysmal ratings. If Toonami hadn't replaced it, at the absolute latest, Adult Swim would've kept the lights on for anime until Bleach ended, then flushed it all down the drain.

There was no saving ASA.

I remember durarrara, i found it quite interesting.

Used to be for fun and novelty. Live threads used to actually be decent. Was something to look forward to each week, even though I could just stream any show on the block in a week.

Anymore I feel like I'm just forcing myself, I don't really care for a single show on the lineup. More than likely will call it quits after Jack because that is gonna be the high point of the year

No, if ASA stayed, anime on AS would have been gone before 2012 ended. The issue we have is Toonami was TOO successful. If it would have stayed mediocre but better than ASA, we probably could have kept the good shows, rather than all the mainstream shit we get now to prop the numbers up

Actually in a Q&A they did way back Demarco said had the Toonami project not been successful in fixing ASA that Bleach would have been dropped too.

ASA was pretty dead before Toonami came on. Had it not been for Toonami [as] would have just stopped airing anime all together by now.
Pic related, this was the ASA schedule a few months before Toonami.

This. What we had happen with Toonami is what regular AS had happen with Seth shows. Family Guy and friends brought crazy numbers, but those became the new expectation for every night. Since their originals can't perform at Seth levels, they are forced to fill their schedules with Seth

It found as the biggest anime mistake of my life watching.

Why the fuck is this failed project still ongoing? It gets worse every week

>Maybe finally having a girl show up got people to stick around

All memeing aside, is this really a problem casual viewers have with Jojo? That is doesn't have enough waifus?

for Sup Forums yeah

Casuals find it gay.

No love for animes about buff, loudmouthed metro sexuals anymore.

As for me? Im loving all the heavy machismo.

The experiment is to see exactly how low the ratings can get, which will provide Lazzo with firepower to never air any retro Adult Swim shows again.

>11:30 Dragon Ball Super 1233 0.60 765
I'll never understand why this low budget garbage is so popular.

Maybe, I'd say the issue is we have 4 men centered shows right now with limited waifu pools, 2 of which don't even try to hide their gayness

And yet they lap up DBZ and Super...

Muh bulmas and videls.

Possibly because of DBZ transcending into western culture from nostalgia

January 6th, it will come up on google.

Because it's Dragon Ball.

Most of that is better than what's airing now

guess i better get my v day fap in.

to your waifu

No, they'd be worse. See: Chiller.

Good luck my waifu is pure and has no porn.

>Chiller

anyone have tomoko with abs? saved it before, and lost it

The finally finished adapting the entire story last year. Dunno if they'll bother dubbing the final seasons.
