The Walking Dead

What went wrong ?

Seasons 1 and 2 were very good and addicting. After that it really trailed off.

Probably the best opening/1st episode for a tv series.
It went all downhill from there

This season will be redeemed soon don't worry.

>Carl dying
>Punished Rick fucking shit up with Punished Morgan

Shits about to get real

they made a 2nd season.
and a 3rd and a 4th...

Goofball characters like a LARPing we wuzzer with a fucking tiger.

>fucked Frank Darabont with budget and episode count in season 1
>forced him to work with incompetent freshly-graduated writers
>fucked him dry, no lube with budget and episode count in season 2
>fired him and his friend, Dale's actor quit in protest (a character important to Andrea's development and his other contributions to the group had to be taken over by Hershel, whose death he took)
>hire Glen Mazzara who does an OK job salvaging the season in the second half with the Rick and Shane stuff
>also never stop fucking showrunners dry, no lube, rough shaft stubble with budget and episode count
>give him too much creative freedom in season 3 and he screws the pooch
>fire him literally right before/in the middle of filming the season 3 finale
>last-minute rewrites and reshoots trying to salvage it
>give Scott Gimple too much freedom, every episode is a bottle episode and none are anywhere near as good as his crown jewel Clear
>not enough material to pad out seasons, every episode has someone making a motivation speech about how this is the world now and this is how we survive
>picking the wrong things from the comic to change (surprise Holly death becoming drawn-out death flagging and an impotent season finale "big death"), and the wrong things to adapt wholesale
>lazier and lazier staff, they went from a real M2 Browning with blanks that cost $70 to fire per second to CGI muzzle flash for everything, almost all the budget is probably going to paying for the space/sets rented long-term for Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom/Sanctuary/Oceanside
>give screentime to characters no one cares about like Tara
>let people come and go for months at a time for pregnancies and trying their luck at other shows because theyre your friends and you don't want to kill them off
>distinct lack of a hothead myasking you something

got rid of shane far too early.
looks like its been directed by teenagers.
has absolutely no direction.
has cgi on par with the flash/arrow.
far too much filler, which is why this season is going 200mph to try and compensate.

lol just because theres a lot of gunshots it doesnt mean this season is any quicker

>Rick was never maimed and had his hand cut off, so he still remains perfectly useful and will probably never be crippled by Negan, so he's unable to slowly slide into being less useful of a character physically, allowing other characters to take the forefront starting with his hand coming off
>Rick's group is growing completely uninteresting constantly being portrayed as the unequivocal good guys despite on the whole being the most vicious, unwarrantedly violent, and murderous group out there
>Every group opposing them is always Saturday morning cartoon evil, until they try to pull some goofy Saturday morning cartoon "BUT LOOK, THEY TAKE CARE OF THEIR BABIES, THEY LOVED A BABY" ass pull to try and make the antagonist look more human, despite setting them up as horrific to Rick's group, even though they're just normal people and taking care of babies is just a normal human thing to do
>Seriously, they fucked up the Saviors hard on the characterisation
>Negan needs more exposition to show off himself as a foil to Rick and show that he's actually the good guy in the dynamic between the two, being an authoritarian keeping people in line with intimidating threats but rarely having to resort to violence in acts that are even beneficial to the groups of people he punishes (i.e. killing one guy in exchange for killing dozens of his), while Rick's a mass murdering control freak

It became a zombie soap opera. Didnt even take long for it to happen.

Deviation from the comic for the most part. The comic was pretty solid up to the defeat of the saviours.

>It became a zombie soap opera
Zombie Romero, is that you?

i still think the season 7 premiere is kino but the show has been especially shit lately

yeah, no, that wont happen.

Shane went crazy too early. They had to kill him off. Plis Lori pitting them against each other didn't help. Now Rick basically acts like Shane.

If Shane had somehow stayed alive, would he have been loyal to Rick?

*saves the show*

>far too much filler, which is why this season is going 200mph to try and compensate.
We've had two episodes focused on the same gunfight. That's slow as balls.

AMC

now this is what I call contrarianism

this happened

It's 99% confirmed spoilers from proven sources user. Carl dies in the midseason finale.

They fired Darabont

>contrarianism
Season 3 of Fear is objectively better than Seasons 6, 7, and 8 (so far) of the main show

These responses are all accurate. God what potential this franchise had :(
