This show really was shit...

This show really was shit...it appealed to a certain autistic "toonami generation" aka it pandered enough to weebs who didn't like western shit to get them to like it, but it was never as good as any other DC show and to this day remains one of the most overrated shows of all time

And yet it's still the most iconic representation of Teen Titans.
Barely anyone masturbates to comic Raven, Terra, or Jinx

This show really was shit...it appealed to a certain autistic "tumblr generation" aka it pandered enough to weebs who didn't like western shit to get them to like it, but it was never as good as any other CN show and to this day remains one of the most overrated shows of all time

When did kids start liking such girly childish-looking cartoons anyway? I'm only 18 and when I was younger all everyone wanted to watch was violent shit and shit that didn't look cutesy so we wouldn't seem like babies to our peers. I remember some kid in my 1st grade class got picked on heaps because his mum wouldn't let him see Spiderman 2 and because he liked Poko.

>porn is a indicator of quality

>I'm only 18 and when I was younger all everyone wanted to watch was violent shit and shit that didn't look cutesy so we wouldn't seem like babies to our peers.

You aren't the demographic for this website....sorry

It's like you just word-for-word described Avatar TLAB.

Why do you fucking idiots constantly say "HURR DURR IT'S LE PSEUDO-WEEB SHOW SO IT'S SHIT"? Is that seriously the best "criticism" of the show you morons have?

I'm pretty sure they don't like them, but the top brass at the animation studios don't want any moral busybodies to start harassing them over having too much violence, so all the shows are now inoffensive blobshit.

>so all the shows are now inoffensive blobshit.
Pretty sure even a blobby shit show like SU is far more controversial and relevant to society than a copy cat anime show like TT ever was

It's a huge part of the show.
Like, what the fuck do you expect from people who think that the anime aspect of the show is its biggest problem?

When I watched it growing up, it was the only darker actiony show taking place during the hours I watched. Also I really liked the bro-tier relationship of cyborg and beast boy growing up. It's a shame that it's dumb downed to purely lolsorandom in the new series. Could you recommend me a better series around the same time the show was airing which incorporated bro relationships and action?

>It's a huge part of the show.
No it wasn't. The anime-influence was extremely fucking minimal.

That's because the 90s were riding the wave of XTREME fad the 80s started.

Seriously, this shit comes in waves people. Cartoons of the 50s were all about cute, symbolic characters. The 60s was the startup of the boys action cartoon where everything was realistic and violent. The 70s and early 80s saw a comeback of 50s nostalgia so everything was cute again. The 80s and early 90s was a revitalization of the action cartoon as well as the West's big introduction to anime which was also rejecting its cute, Disney-fied history. And now here we are in the aughts where everyone is going for softer edges and cuter designs, even action shows.

Big b8

Okay, I think OP is dumb but Teen Titans was heavily influenced by anime. It's nothing to be ashamed of, all great artists build upon the works of others before them.

>BW: What were some of the influences of the TEEN TITANS series?
Glen: When we were doing BATMAN, we kept saying, “Let’s do film noir.” It’s like Hitchcock or Citizen Kane. The crew was all on the same page. But with TITANS, I was looking for the right analogy to use with the crew. At the time, I had seen “Fooly Cooly” before working on TITANS. So that became a reference.
We worked with this Japanese studio TMS when I worked on SUPERMAN and BATMAN BEYOND. I think I grew to appreciate anime even more through working with those guys.
Plus, all the old school stuff I grew up watching. All the live action stuff. The SENTAI stuff. In California, there was this show they aired called KIKAIDA, which was probably an influence on how I designed Cyborg. Then there was a show called THE GO RANGERS. These shows were created by a guy named Shotaro Ishinomori. He created a show called CYBORG 009. That had a big impact on me. More than I realized. I watched a lot of that stuff on UHF [note: UHF channels (channels 14 through 83) existed before cable television. The UHF channels were primarily independent commercial and educational or non-commercial stations]. I don’t speak Japanese or really understand Japanese, but all that stuff to me, as a kid, was more entertaining that the American stuff that was on at the time. [laughs]. Even stuff like KIMBA and SPEED RACER.

Says somebody who grew up on anime, kek

Donyou get joy out of provoking responses? Do you post on /ck/ and talk about you hate apple pie?

The show rocked. Weak episodes and even weak seasons sure, but it still rocked. You know it, I know it and the American people know it.

We're in the 10s now, not the aughts.

The aughts, at least up till 2006, still mooched off the 90s EXTREME fad (see Loonatics Unleashed) without getting an identity of their own. Now around the late 2000s, we started seeing these softer and cuter designs in shows like Chowder and Flapjack, which paved the way for the 2010s

I prefer to post on /ck/ about how little they know about good fruit punch or why some princesses are afraid of quesadillas, but that is beside the point here

TT was a gay show that appealed to young kids who only liked anime , and it tried very hard to appeal to you utter faggots...you naruto dbz crows homos, who only pretend to like Western shit when really you're into chink shit

It's probably better than Young Justice at its best. The stronger episodes IIRC are the first season finale, The End Parts 1-3, Haunted, and the Kid Flash episode.

>It's probably better than Young Justice at its best.

Nah.

>Barely anyone masturbates to comic Raven

Sup Forums trolls feed on butthurt of the other users
do NOT feed the troll

eat shit, pebble

>kek
Fuck off faggot.

You're trying do hard to bait that you sound like an autist.

*too

Best comeback ever

Teen Titans actually tackled a lot of issues that were relevant at the time it aired. Everything from Racism to sexism and even peer pressure. And just because a show has vague hints at rocks being lesbians doesn't make it controversial.

Yeah but the tits on Raven though.

We had this one kid in my highschool named Michael who was heavy on the spectrum. I don't know why but he'd always lose his shit over this show.
No one made fun of him for his disabilities, but he was a real cunt to everyone so it wasn't like people were sympathetic towards him at all either.
Once people found out this was a trigger for him whenever he was being a little shit, someone would just say "Teen Titans" and this kid would literally just start fucking screaming or hitting the wall. It was ridiculous. I mean I lost count of how many times I'd walk down the hall and see Michael screaming on the floor and just figure "Oh someone said Teen Titans again"

Anyway, point is I can't think about this show at all without relating it to autism so I think OP has a legitimate point

...

>to a certain autistic "toonami generation"
genZ just can't even false flag without blowing their cover out of the water like that. Being OBSESSED with current year and what's "in" and "out" based on age is something you'll never outgrow or be able to controlled.

Anime sucks, and so do you shonen manchild. I picked on you in middle school.

Did you ever consider a fair amount of children would watch the show?

>Anime sucks

Fag
Yeah, anime is shit because asian people don't have hearts
It's why they ruined Transformers about a million times

G8 B8 M8 I R8 8

>asian people don't have hearts
Again. Do you have a single fact to back that up?

The teen titans cartoon fans are probably the most autistic fanbase on Sup Forums.
See: the constant threads about their waifus, all the morons in this thread who knew they were being baited but still replied.

Powerpuff girls were popular enough to get a movie back in the day
Steven universe character design is ugly but it's not femenine
If anything the show is femenine because the characters cry all the time and Steven get written. As a girl

I agree. I tried to have a civil conversation about the new raven comic in the raven thread yesterday but all most people wanted to talk about was "how would she sexually react to x" and "OMG dat ass I wanna marry her." I really hope these threads get purged because there is no hope of any conversation about the character beyond MY WAIFUUUU

Hey dobson

>SU is non Offensive
Man you have no idea how wrong you are.

Young Justice was good before getting really bad
You can't talk about it as a show, at least separate them into seasons even tho even then it's incredibly hot or miss

All the cool kids agree

It's overrated because it's good. Suck my cocks.

2 threads call somewhat popular shows "autistic",the others at the time of writing this comment was about how Ed+Edd+Eddy was for "autists"
I'm starting to see a pattern here

>>asian people don't have hearts
>Again. Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Google animal cruelty videos

I have seen my share of americans abusing animals. Your argument is invalid

I prefer Teen Titans because it never had a love triangle and they used the characters they had as best they could. Young Justice was good but the only characters who got focus in season 2 were Blue Beetle and Impulse.

I also find it really weird that Sup Forums praises Wakfu and Avatar which were more anime than Teen Titans but hate on Teen Titans because it had an animesque artstyle.

I don't like computer animation but for me to say that all computer animated cartoons are bad because I hate computer animation would be stupid of me.

Didn't Americans use to club seals? You fellas ain't no saints either and you almost hunted Buffalos to extinction.

I think there's still lots of demand for that, it's just that it's mostly met by videogames now. Also think that society is generally less optimistic and more uncertain now and that results in people looking for softer, less threatening forms of escapism, also think that cartoon creators seem more uniformly liberal now and that's probably also a factor but maybe that's bullshit

It was also extremely iconic for its time because in the early 2000s anime was still somewhat niche and not mainstream yet. Part of its appeal with the weebs of the time was that it took several of it's animation ques from anime, like the big eyes, sweat drops, big mouths, ect.

When I was a kid I thought it was going to be a spin-off of Justice League. Once I watched it disappointed me. I hated the fact that the Justice League (hell, even Batman) is never mentioned and it always bothered me that they tried to make Robin too much like Batman.

Young Justice is what I thought Teen Titans should have been.

are u me.
the fact they had TT running at the same time as JLU, it always really annoyed me how there was never any mention in either show. I mean, I get now they were totally separate projects but as a kid it was really frustrating

user, a fact of life you're going to have to face is is that people don't always agree with you.

I loved this show as a kid but re watching it as an adult, character interaction could be horribly cringe at times, the animation was actually quite poor with static backgrounds and many of the action scenes being bare bones with a few exceptions and the plot doesn't really take off until the third season. This show suffers from a horrible case of rose tinted glasses

So your reasoning stems from your hate of shipping, which actually had a major impact on the first season and second season in terms of character growth and because the second season shifted focus on characters that happened to more vital to the plot instead of expanding on characters that had already been delved on in the first season. I want to call you retarded but it's your opinion so I'll leave it be.

You're just being contrarian. It might not live up to the sacred cow idol that people who grew up with it often make it out to be, but it stood above most of the other shows of the time. If might have gone overboard with the trendy weeb reaction shit and cringy Yami Yumi music, but it was a stylish little show with some decent arcs and some really fun episodic villains youtube.com/watch?v=Dq20zg1dZ_w

The animation was really shit, though.

>I also find it really weird that Sup Forums praises Wakfu and Avatar which were more anime than Teen Titans but hate on Teen Titans because it had an animesque artstyle.

Teen Titans felt like a caricature of anime or what a western animator thinks anime should be like.

The art style and the addition of music by Puffy AmiYumi feels like it's saying "Oooo!! Look how Japanese we are!!!111 xD"

Wakfu and Avatar just felt like they just used the style directly. Which is totally fine

Either go all the way or go home.

Yeah, but we don't masturbate to it.

What really triggers me about this cartoon was its depiction of Slade Wilson to this day. From mercenary with strong sense of honor to sociopath with zero honor and implied pedo tendencies, I mean c'mon

It's a case of character in name only because the creators had a specific kind of antagonist in mind but wanted to use an establish character the audience could recognize. Same thing with Bane in Nolan Batman

Why not make OCs or pick someone else then? I remember there are legions of people back then that thought this really was how Deathstroke was and were surprised to find how different the comic and every other depiction of him was.

People also still associate Slade's voice with Ron Perlman most. Shit is annoying.

Young Justice would've been based if it were based off the '97 comics.

I don't remember too much of TT and don't have any interest in watching it again. Give me the run down on how "Slade" was different from actual Deathstroke again

i hated it because it wasn't MUH TITANS at the time

i still hate it for that fact, especially when we had all the other fucking DCAU shit up until then being mostly 99% based on the comics

also, fuck that starfire
big hair starfire forever

you goddamn children

It is the 90's Xmen of the new generation

Upon re watching it

It still solid and is aging well

I'm going to have to fucking stop you right there, Ron Perlman, despite his real-world left-leaning opinions, has one of the best voices for animation, especially with how TT characterized Slade in the cartoon. His voice perfectly matches the charismatic, cruel, and commanding persona that this incarnation of Deathstroke needed. While I can agree with everything else in your post, this is something I cannot agree with you on. It's as if you said "shits annoying" to people associating Darkseid's voice with Michael Ironside.

Deathstroke is just a mercenary/assassin that loves cash but doesn't stoop to serious terrorism and likes fair fights

Slade in this cartoon is a terrorist and criminal mastermind with a fetish for torture and mass destruction and is a dishonorable fighter with preference for psychological tactics. He's also not above brutally assaulting children and has a thing for Terra, a teenager, who he also beats.

>dishonorable fighter
>He's also not above brutally assaulting children and has a thing for Terra, a teenager, who he also beats.
He'd fit in right here.

Deathstroke in the comics used psychological tactics all the time and fought dirty. Most of his earlier appearances(pre Judas Contract) were him outsmarting the Titans through dirty tactics and mind games.

I'm going to be honest shipping is the worst part of any fandom and focusing on love triangles when you could have fleshed out some of the new characters is wasting potential.

My problem with YJ is that most of the new characters introduced in season 2 got no development at all. I liked Impulse and Blue Beetle but I wanted to see more from the other characters.

absolutely shit show
animu faces
animu humor
animu melodrama
it was all gay as fuck and tailor made for a very specific generation, who are cancer incarnate

>When did kids start liking such girly childish-looking cartoons anyway?
"Children" also includes girls, user. Is it that surprising that they'd like a show like this?

>Implying girls watch cartoons when they don't even buy the toys

Holy shit.

>animu humor
>animu melodrama
But those parts are western as fuck.

>Like, what the fuck do you expect from people who think that the anime aspect of the show is its biggest problem?

To have a real criticism?

This show really was shit...it appealed to a certain autistic "Le meme crowd" aka it pandered enough to retards who didn't like normal shit to get them to like it, but it was never as good as any other CN show and to this day remains one of the most overrated shows of all time

There's a huge difference between disagreeing with someone and being an asshole. For example, you and OP

there's a lot of things that haven't aged well about this show, but in terms of character chemistry and likability? It's still the king among DC shows.

Justice League had decent team chemistry but Young Justice was fucking awful in that regard.

If you don't care about the characters, there's no reason to care about the show.

But TT was just like my 4kids dubs!

...

...

...

it is. better, more popular shows have more high quality porn

...

This show really was shit. It appealed to a certain millenial "hipster" generation aka it pandered to stoners who didn't like kids cartoons, but it was never as good as any other CN show and to this day remains one of the most overrated shows of all time.

The whole concept of the Teen Titans franchise is similar to the concept of a lot of anime and manga.Teenagers with interesting and sketchy pasts fighting villains.I'd argue that the anime art style suited the series.

Carol fags are even worse

Desperately pandering to an irrelevant character, but then again her movie is coming out and they nees to a shill her big time for that

Your generation grew up in the live action era where liking traditional kids stuff wasn't cool. Everything was either reality TV based or watered down sitcom bs.

hold on let me go get you your "prize for not liking stuff that other people like".
