Name one, ONE, western cartoon opening that can hope to compete with a few samples of mediocre Anime openings like these:

Way better song
>"Theme songs are just an excuse for show makers to make less show"
-Strong Bad
Who cares about openings, I want content and not some squirrel-sounding grille breathing into the mic and a bunch of visuals to keep you visually distracted.
youtube.com
That was easy.
Strong Bad is right once again
>mediocre
debatable
Real Adventures of Johnny Quest
Swat Kats
Freakazoid
The Mask
>mediocre OPs
>Bloody Stream
If there's one thing DavidPro did well it was the openings
even Tex Avery intro is far better than that autist shit
Duck Tales
Samurai Jack
See you in 3 days OP faggot.
Steven Universe.
Actually wrong, since cartoons with no themesongs just have more ads nowadays.
Compete in what regard, OP?
>Animation Quality?
>Music choice?
>Ability to summarize what to expect from the show?
>Get the audience excited for what they're about to see?
Wickie and the strong Men (the old show)
Too easy.
Came in here to post this. DuckTales is like the epitome of great Western cartoon intros.
Darkwing Duck
Teenage Mutan Ninja Turltes in the German Version
The West won were it actually counts
just the first thing that came up to my mind also
Comparing the intros of western animation to anime intros is nonsense. Both have entirely different objectives and serve different goals with different sets of priorities. When either is compared by the standards of the other it will fail because they both value opposing things.
Basically, you're a fucking idiot. This is comparing apples to potatoes. It might make sense to the French, but we're not talking about them.
Star Vs would have an excellent opening if not for the awful lyrics. If it was just the music and visuals it would own.
Also, this blows pretty much every anime OP out of the water.

Star vs. has a better ED anyways.
Really, no one posted it yet?
youtube.com
I will often decide to watch a show solely because it has a fine opening
It sucks that they're massively shortened now in many cartoons to make room for more ads

Dark wing duck easy
How is he "of the 24th and 1/2 century" if he was frozen from an earlier century?
Japan can't compete with American cartoons made by TMS

Or to introduce new watchers to the characters and concept of the show.
Ok, enjoy your good openings. We're just going to keep excelling at everything else like music, art and technology
>music
>art
lel you joeking m8
God I love how over the top GI Joe is.
Name one song Japan has produced better than Fugue in G Minor, or Ein Klein Nacht Musik
>JAM Project will never perform your cartoon's opening

why live
that GI Joe one is probably the best intro for cartoons in general
>Bloody Stream
>Mediocre
>3 more years to go till 2020
cool
He was frozen while moving really fast?
You talking shit about Bloody Stream, you fuck?!
>Bloody Stream
>Mediocre
And nothing of value was lost.
>Or to introduce new watchers to the characters and concept of the show.
No, it's to give the latest idols a platform to sell their music on to otakus that have been well aware of the series when it was only a manga being sold in a throwaway magazine.
>Great anime pieces grew from designs created in the West and adopted by Japanese artists
>Classical music drawn from western instruments and compositions and adopted by Japanese
>Assembly line theory and algorithms developed by American and European engineers and mathematicians later adopted by the Japanese and ramped up to 11.
Face it everything great in anime had a Western origin, then repackaged and sold back to you.
Love this intro but come on, its not even particularly well animated.
first post best post
You ain't my nigga
the lyrics are pretty catchy, and do good job of explaining the basic premise
90s X-Men
90s Spider-Man
The Tick
Sonic The Hedgehog (ABC, not Fox)
Somewhat related, but why do anime OSTs are much more memorable than cartoon OSTs?

I didn't knew there was soundtracks hype enough for me to remember it by name.
Yeah but they're ridiculously cringey and awful.
"I'm talking rainbows I'm talking puppies pah pah pah pah"
What the fuck is that? And then his voice cracks at the end.
Good song not generally covered. Good job.
Here comes the 80s
Venture Brothers OSTs are high tier.

I put most of the crisis ones, but they have a lot of emotion to them.
>nobody's posted the GOAT

>2/3 of it is still images so they could blow the budget on everything else.
That's not even fair.
The Brave and the Bold theme always gets me hyped as fuck.
Venture Bros. truly is a rare beast.
also, can't forget this theme
youtube.com
brave and the bold was the fucking best.
Name 1 (one, uno, un, δΈ€) example of them doing it better.
I never see this show talked about around here (or maybe I'm not looking) but one of the things it had going for it was the intro. So, for your consideration, The Big Guy and Rusty:

My favorite OPs are Clone High, Megas XLR, and the OG Powerpuff Girls. I think they excel the most at what western cartoon OPs tend to do (explain the premise of the show) and are pretty good music to boot.
too late bud.
Samurai Jack
Static Shock
American Digimon OP
Power Rangers
Powerpuff Girls
Fairly Odd Parents
I fucking love the keyboard in the Star VS opening. I play piano myself, and I love the sound of that instrument, so it sticks out to me.
It's shit because i'm not watching an anime opening, i'm watching the opening of a DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi game.
>Bloody Stream
>mediocre
I will cut you
eyy
Eazy peazy you style over substance homo erectus.

Satan is right again but still we continue.
At least I get to relive a lot of these old Openings so the threads not completely worthless I guess.

no duck dodgers, I'm ashamed
>CAUSE I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL
>mediocre
end yourself
hello grandpa!
are you sure?
Japan IS the west. That's why we say they "westernized" before the the world wars. This contrasts China which tried to hold onto its heritage.
Of course that would mean most of the world is "the West" now. Collared shirts ultimately won.
Ironic because Bloody Stream works very well as an anime opening. It's well directed and grabs your attention. It foreshadows the entire plot in a way that you wouldn't notice it until you watched the anime/read the manga(or googled the spoilers). It's good because it hooks you in but you also have a reason to watch it more than once. Yes the same could be applied to all Jojo OPs but all of them are good, fuck you.
I agree with most of this, though i did catch on to Caesar's death pretty quickly.
>but all of them are good,
part 4 op's were kind of weak
Chip and Dale
Goof Troop
I'm gonna assume this was already posted, but
youtube.com
>I've never been to Japan
Bro, shit on their culture all you like, but Japan is one of the most technologically convenient places I've ever been.
checked and its the truth.
The original opening was charming and comfy, the current one is way too manic and not nearly as good
