Meh.

I just started downloading it

yes i rike it

It's too long. Characters are introduced that add nothing to the plot.

you have the attention span of a ground squirrel, rebecca.

What else is essential Miike besides Ichi?

does it include the prison arc?

There was a prison arc in the manga? I'l getting out before I get spoiled

Rike it, or rike-it rike it?

Audition, Happiness of the Katakuris, Dead or Alive, Visitor Q, Zebraman, Big Bang Love, Zebraman 2, Lesson of the Evil

black society trilogy
dead or alive

...

Is there any way of knowing when we can watch pic related next?

no yakuza demon? philistine.

Shinjuku Triad Society
Audition
Dead or Alive
Visitor Q
The Happiness of the Katakuris
The Bird People in China
Some of his remakes are fine, but the originals are better (Harakiri, Graveyard of Honor etc), I would probably only watch 13 Assassins

To give you a good idea, by 90 minutes in, they'd covered 5 or so volumes of the manga.
There was no prison arc included.
Basically I thought it was a watchable, fun time killer and it didn't feel its length, there's a bunch of small encounters that don't last all that long but they're entertaining, the big scene at the beginning and the action in the final act are the best fights in the film.
Some people will think it loses something by not having the gritty art of the manga and some aren't going to like the girl either but I didn't really mind.

CROWS FUCKING ZERO MY NIGGER

I wouldn't say it's essential because it's pretty bad but Yakuza Apocalypse is ridiculous.

Careful with that Ganool torrent going around, video is out of sync, I'm not sure but I think the stream on Kissasian doesn't have any issues.
I'd watch just about anything with Song-Kang-ho in it, memories of a murder and Secret sunshine are my favourites that he starred in.

I've avoided Katakuri's, harakiri and graveyard because I've seen the originals.
Rainy dog was the triad trilogies finest hour for me.

Bird people it is tonight!

Miike is so fucking based. I wish I could spend my life directing whatever the fuck comes into my mind and still staying in the moviemaking-game.

Different question. Is manga worth reading? Art looks gorgeous, but the only thing I read from the author are his collection of eroguro paintings (Love Of Brute I think). Also the story about young girls being used as rape-sluts at prisons to prevent tensions (Bradherley no Basha I guess).

Fucking hell, I only have about 8GB space left and I don't want to buy new hard drives until cyber monday. Send help

How about deleting old stuff?

I haven't read it myself but I hear its great.

I'd delete myself first

so what was up with that gag in 13 assassins where one of the samurai beings some old villager? is it a cultural thing or what

Oh man I totally forgot Kissasian existed. I just remembered using it to watch pic related (actually kind of a good, just a bit cheesy, show) a couple years back. Didn't even know they did movies!
Also Song-Kang-ho is definitely wonderful but you've clearly kept up with him better than me because I've never even heard of Secret Sunshine. Will check it out, thanks for the unintended rec! Memories of Murder is amazing though.

really makes me thonk

>I've avoided Katakuri's
that's a mistake. It's hard to compare it to the original because it's so different. Miike's version is a musical comedy. It's one of the most absurd movies I've seen. I loved it.

Well that's what you get for asking recommendations for a director with over 100 movies to his name

I know, but better have them in a backlog rather then not at all

no i riked it

It was terrible, but after I got out of the highschool edgy nothing personell phase the comic was pretty terrible too in hindsight. Especially when I realized that the author is a pervert who literally masturbates to dismembering and torturing women.

Funny how they didn't even have the balls to put a swastika on his back in the movie though.

>ruined awesome Ichi The Killer
>now ruined awesome Blade Of The Immortal
Absolute hack only loved by edgy redditors. Don't even start with
>le intentionally campy lowbudget

13 Assassins since no one above mentioned it

>tfw I liked both Ichi the Killer manga and movie
figt me gaf

Is Miike still making a wuxia film? I was excited when I heard about it like a year ago.

old boy

The entire "appeal" of the comic is "whoa this guy has two heads on his shoulders because he fucked his wife and daughter and stuffed them and sewed them on" and "whoa this guy has a saw blade and he tortures people and rapes corpses" and "whoa this guy has two katanas that connect into a double blade like darth maul" and so on.

>Bradherley no Basha
You didn't rike it?

When is the live action Jojo movie gonna be out?

>ruined Ichi The Killer
no, the prequel did

>Especially when I realized that the author is a pervert who literally masturbates to dismembering and torturing women
The way you say it implies it's something bad.
Yeah, he is edgy, but you can't deny his art is GOAT.
It's edgy for the sake of edgy. At least stuff like MPD Psycho and Ichi The Killer have psychological elements. His stuff is literal torture porn.

You can apply same for Berserk. Blade is at least finished though while Guts is up to another seven years of returning back from Elfenheim via boat.

Did I like it?

Yes, beautiful. I'd have to have it taken in.

Well, that's Blade of The Immortal too. It looks cool and it's cool and the fights are cool and... yeah. I personally don't mind "edgy", only capeshitters have allergies against it. 'sides you're in a Miike thread.
If you want truly amazing samurai manga go for Vagabond and Takemitsu Zamurai.
MPD Psycho is pretty crap though. Too slight for what it tries to present itself as.

>Sup Forums actually has good manga taste
Who would have known?

It was better than the anime, but worse than the manga.

Well, I don't browse Sup Forums much...

I look forward to this every month

What you like is a dick in dat boipussy.

W-who told you about my boipus?

George Takei.

Does sadpanda have all of it?

Do you think someone who never read the manga will enjoy it?

Can I watch this before reading the manga, or will I spoil myself anything important?

Manga first. Manga is always better then the adaptation
the exception is sailor moon

You won't get what's happening because it's compressing years and years of it into one movie and it's very random. They just picked a few "cool" scenes throughout the years (but not the coolest ones for some reason) and put them in sequentially.

>Lol, I can't die

Of man, I'm REALLY on the edge of my seat now! Out of curiosity, how the fuck does the manga actually make the story interesting? There was literally zero tension in the fight scenes from the movie.

When the blood-worm poison was introduced, I though the main villain would have found out about it and used it against the MC or some shit, but nothing happens.

i get all of his yakuza films mixed up. i haven't seen most of them in a decade. i vaguely remember Fudoh: The New Generation being good.

>better
That's why I wanna leave it for last.

But the movie will spoil it, better you go in fresh

good point. the more i think about that movie, the more it pisses me off. thank god i paid zero dollars for it.
