Today's episode was pretty bland. It was one of those stupid "hero character isn't actually a hero" plots, but its pacing was all wrong the the character in question ended up learning their lesson too suddenly and without much build-up.
On the plus side, there may be two more episodes in season one after all. The next one airs in a month.
That's putting it bluntly, but yes. Because the computer program does a lot of the heavy lifting for them, the show uses a lot of weird perspective shots that other cartoons seldom use. The characters are often seen from behind, or from above, and while facing different directions. It doesn't always look "right", but it's still neat, considering how often modern cartoons force the characters to be facing the screen.
>It was at this stage in The Lion Guard’s production that things took a slightly different turn. Christian Larocque, animation director at Mercury Filmworks, wanted to find a more fluid way of animating characters in the short amount of time he had available to him. His idea was to “rig” the character in 3D first, which meant creating a digital puppet of each animal character, which the animators could then spin around and see from every angle.
>It was this technique, thought to be the first of its kind, that allowed the team to put the cartoon characters in every conceivable position, whether they were jumping on to rocks or leaping into the air. This allowed them to see how the characters would move in any given situation. “The rig has all the points of articulation; all the joints of the character, the mouth movements, the eye movements,” says Riley. Once the animators had used the 3D rig to work out how each character would look in each position, they could translate that into a 2D model to give the animation that authentic, “handdrawn” look.
>The 3D rigging meant, according to Riley, a lot of work at the “front end of production” – but the result was worth it. “We’ve all been blown away by how successful it’s been,” says Riley. “Everyone loves The Lion King so much, we’ve got to produce a show that tries to approach that level of quality.”
Brody Wood
If that technology fell into the wrong hands - or the right hands, depending on your perspective - I wonder what they would be able to do with it.

>Fuli's butt
Dominic Flores
At least it's not EXTREME EMPHASIS ON PAWS

Alexander Nguyen
I want to have sex with all of the animals on this show.
Adrian Brown
Do you suppose he watches this show for his waifu?
Bentley Lee

Juan Bennett
Don't fuck the hippo. That's disgusting.
Blake James
Why not?
Nicholas Morris
Not just his waifu, judging by the way he reacted to cheetarah, it's safe to assume he likes all kinds of characters.
Julian Ortiz
>Today's episode was pretty bland. It was one of those stupid "hero character isn't actually a hero" plots You're literally watching a show for preschoolers, lad...
Levi Green
He swims in shit water all day.
Jordan Reyes
Someone needs to watch it in order to report on all the cute girl animals. And it sure ain't gonna be me.
Hunter Smith
So it's created using 3D models filtered down via its artstyle into a 2D image?
Jacob Gutierrez
Hose him off and then fuck his asshole.
Ryder Turner
Either that or wobbly bouncy 2d shapes.
Joseph Ward
>Kion's 'I'm gonna fuck that cheetah' expression
Nathaniel White
>cute girl animals
David Lee
No, it's rotoscoped, but with 3D models instead of live-action actors.
Owen Collins
Cute boy animals too, I guess.
Oliver Phillips
>Cute boy animals too, I guess.
Colton Taylor
Bump.
Jordan Turner
You don't like boys either? What do you want? Dickgirl animals? I don't think that's appropriate for a children's show.
Ryder Bennett
There's always Jasiri.
Justin Ortiz
is this killer7?
Logan Kelly
What i want id for people like you to go away
Christian Ortiz
Absolutely
Adrian Sullivan
I think Sup Forums may not be the right place for you if something like this bothers you so much. Have you tried Toonzone?
Parker Ross
That's more like a prolapsed vagina that can go erect than a penis.
Isaac Hernandez
time to hunt!
Adam Rodriguez
we need a zebra in that pic!
Charles Torres
Bump.
Joseph Wright
This was definitely made with the porn in mind
Dylan Cruz
Yet the show doesn't have much of a following, if at all. People never quite got over the "preschool" hurdle, even though the show could easily pass as a TV-Y7 show. Their decision to make it a preschool show had more to do with merchandising than anything else.
Brandon Bennett
Last bump.
Parker Thompson
hind legs for ages
Landon White
She's a cheetah. Having strong legs is probably implicit.
Nathan James
This is a completely unedited screenshot from the show. Taken out of context, sure, but still unedited. Fuli had a bunch of little animals riding on her back and, later in the episode, said she could still feel them. Bunga checked for her and told her they were gone.
Lucas Morgan
>today's episode was pretty bland
that describes every ep, and I like the show
Jonathan Miller
why would they make a kids show out of one of the darkest Disney entries? They could do so much more with it
Lincoln Watson
They're not all bland. Many of them are, perhaps. There have been a few really good ones.
Michael Perez
which ones?
Dylan Diaz
I liked the Kupatana one, as the jackals are generally great villains. The aardwolves one was okay for the same reason. It's probably overstated, but Jasiri's two episodes are also good. Yes, Zira and the outlanders are downplayed a bit, but that's to be expected.
The Imaginary Okapi is worth mentioning for Steve Blum. I'm not sure he voices many animal characters, but he was fun as the leopard. The Trouble With Galagos was okay as well.
Blake Bell

Jordan Davis
wincest when?
Jonathan Scott
Whaa? I thought it was a mega-clit with some labia wrapping. It's vaginal cannal prolapse?
Jack Scott
So, Paperman?
Michael Ross
I like the songs and the fact that female spotted hyenas have a pseudophallus
Dominic Anderson
KIKI MY SAWA
Robert King
No it's all pseudo 3d unlike actual 3d of paperman with overlayed 2d elements.
Lionguard is made in toonboom harmony and utilizes this kind of tech:
>tweening shit around to try and make it look like traditional animation, except it ends up looking obviously off and wrong >main character is a deviantart tier OC complete with a fucking cutie mark this show is such a waste of a good animation studio
Evan Fisher
If Kion so much as touched her, Tiifu would probably kill him.
Evan Jones
this looks like 3d...
Hudson Reyes
Disney released this mini-fig in a blind-bag, listing it as "Battle Fuli". This just screams "battle", doesn't it?
Noah Parker
Bump.
Landon Ross
Isn't toonboom basically like 3D in 2d or something? I remember someone was making a rick and morty parody in toon boom and he essentially rigged the characters up like they were 3D models.
I actually bought one of those. Much smaller than it seems.
Carson Watson
The next episode is on March 17th.
Jonathan Edwards
>that haircut
what the fuck did they do to the lion king?
Ethan Cook
The start of his mane. Simba had similar look during the growing up sequence when he was with Timon and Pumbaa
Dominic Bell
the fanartists grew up and got a job making a Lion King TV show
Hunter Adams
People look for things to complain about. They don't care about the truth. The fact that the main characters are essentially adolescents instead of little babies is one of the things that I like about the show.
Thomas Reyes
Kion can't be an OC, his colors are too simple and has no accesories
