Stranger Things 80s Nostalgia

Fucking hell just watching this makes me feel how simpler life was back then. The 80s-90s were literally America's golden years.

Where the fuck did it all go wrong?
Why did America have to go an invade every fucking country out there, and set of a shitstorm against us

Why is the world so miserably sad now. Why can't we go back

>Why did America have to go an invade every fucking country out there, and set of a shitstorm against us

Gee I wonder.

Because your countries a scorpion and rest of the world is just a frog gaping it's boipussy goatsy style waiting to get it's ass fucked. Thanks America.

Wasn't really because of America invading other countries, but ease of travel, globalization and the internet.
What you're pining for is the small town community, which is no longer existent in most places of the world due to people being able to travel easily everywhere, obtain information easily from anywhere, and the propagation of multinational corporations.
It was bound to happen independent of wars fought, immigration, or whatever else people choose to blame it on.
Move to somewhere remote and you will have the simple life you long for.

It's almost like something big happened in 2001

Stranger Things is Happy Days for millennials. Prove me wrong.

9/11
GFC
smartphones
PC-culture
normies going on the internet en masse
uncontrolled migration/globalism
Unrestrained liberalism at the cost of the moral fabric of the society

People don't realize how much 9/11 absolutely assraped us

It wasn't about the 3k people dying, that is literally nothing. It's about what happened after. We all started living in fear, the government started using that fear to overcome us and take away our rights, we all started distrusting each other. It all went downhill from there

I wonder what happned...

Brown people

Immigration was happening for a long time, but immigrants would absorb into our culture immediately, while still keeping the best part of their own cultures.

Racism was a thing yes, but we were all united against racism, and also the real problems affecting the minority communities (gangs, drugs etc). Back then Blacks were on our side advocating against the real problems like drugs in their community and gang wars and hood culture. Nowdays it's unacceptable to bring those things up, it's all about whitey being bad now.

>The 80s-90s were literally America's golden years.
You couldn't be more wrong.
The 80's to early 90's was when degeneracy really started go in motion, AIDS everywhere, Homos screaming for rights when it was their fault they got AIDS in the first place, DUDE COCAINE LMAO fucking everywhere, commie sentiments started to grow worldwide, South America left the decades of dictatorship and began to look to Communism favorably, people of the world screamed for the Berlin Wall to be demolished.
All in all, the 80's was really the point where all started to irreversibly go to shit, the 60's and 70's were only the dawn to a century of decadence.

How do we go back to the middle ages? Iwant that kind of small community feel.

That whole scene really did make me feel nostalgic af even though i was born in the early 90s, i just remember really fond memories growing up.

There was so much hope for the 2000s, it would literally be the intellectual superage.

The internet should have been our servants, not our masters

>terror attack
>OMG, like, OMG, I mean, like, I am totally in shock right now.
God Americans are retarded.

It's almost like there were many events leading up to that event

there was no hope whatsoever after the industrial revolution, it's all downhill from there

It's almost like there were many events leading up the many events leading up to that event

the 70s were only less decadent cos they were more austere and no one had the money to fuck around. It was still pretty degenerate in terms of big gay movements and drugs.

I grew up then. I was 15 in 1990.

Listened to Warrant and Skid Row. Clean White QTs every where.

Reagan and Bush Sr. President. Everyone was happy and calm. Nintendo games were awesome. Cartoons were awesome. Toys were awesome.

Golden Age that can never come back.

It's almost like there were many events leading up to the many events leading up to the many events leading up to that event

KYS

Painfully

You could go to Siberia or some place up there, pretty sure it's barren as fuck there you might as well will be living in the middle ages.
Alternatively you could go to the Patagonia, but I don't think there are big wild animals to eat there, just small bipeds like foxes and shit.
It was like that for me too, I just fucked around like playing on the arcades in between school.
But yeah, we couldn't see that because it was just starting to happen, though after all these years we can finally see the big picture.

So true. I never knew that wouldn't be my reality forever.

Feels bad man.

You couldn't be more of a dork if you tried.

Well I'm sure you could teach me how seeing as you are a raging faggot

I'm not the one crying about the "good old days" like an old woman with man tits.

Actually '60s was where it began to go to shit with the free love and hippie culture. '70s was degeneracy, and '80s was the culmination or tail end of said degeneracy but also the beginning of the golden age.
'80s had a fucking SHIT TON of serial killers that had been operating at least the '70s. Late '80s to '90s was the true golden age.

I'm not the miserable faggot who comes on a nostalgia thread to criticize those who are nostalgic.

KYS

80s nostalgia is the successful marketing tactic of the decade and you fell for it like a good little consumer suckling at the tit of your betters. You are a joke.

>Actually '60s was where it began to go to shit
That's what I said.
>and '80s was the culmination or tail end of said degeneracy
Lol no, homosexuality acceptance started in the 80's, in the 70's no one gave a shit because everyone was wasted as fuck and couldn't see what they were fucking in the ass.
AIDS and Homosexuality in the 80's was a big ass issue, even though blood transfusions with AIDS were also a big issue.
Also the one thing you won't disagree with me that fucked everything up and beyond, Soviet–Afghan War and the birth of Al Qaeda.

Yeahhhhh ok. The birth of Al Queda started the decline?

Bush Cheney and Rumsfeld were planning 9/11 at Bohemian Grove back in the 1980s.

Don't be such a normie

Because

No it's Happy Days for Gen X. But you're still mostly right.

I'm not talking about 9/11 you stupid fucking faggot.
I mean, fucking Al-Qaeda was created by the CIA. What I'm talking about here is that the US started to seriously meddle with the Middle East and western Asia in 80's, of course they already were doing it before but the Soviet-Afghan War was big deal.

The nation came into Luciferian control after WW2

Go down the fucking rabbit hole or KYS.

Either way get out of here with Muhhh meddling.

>Al-Qaeda and Middle East nationalism didn't change the world forever.
Go back to see Mohammad fuck your wife you fucking cuck.

Such a lost puppy.

This is the 80s and I'm down with the ladies

That is ADULT 80s. The 80s people make fun of. The CHILD 80s WAS basically Stranger Things. That is the 80s everyone loved. t. born in 1980 and on lunch break.

Bless you user. Spot on.

>homosexuality acceptance started in the 80's
Which was a good thing. It's not like it made the gay sex any more rampant, it helped regulate and control things like blood transfusions.

>Also the one thing you won't disagree with me that fucked everything up and beyond, Soviet–Afghan War and the birth of Al Qaeda.
I kinda disagree. Al Qaeda had absolutely no effect whatsoever on my life nor did 9/11 unless you're specifically talking about the TSA. Then again, I live in Canada.
For Americans, sure you lost a lot of foreign clout and global hegemony. Not because 9/11 happened mind you but because of what you did in response to 9/11 (fabricating evidence to invade a completely unrelated country, toppling their dictator and destabilizing an already volatile region, purportedly for your own selfish benefit), which made a lot of European countries disillusioned and resentful towards you and your government.
Then afterwards you were caught spying on your allies and elected a clown which further alienated people against you.

I miss the family values, a long-term wholesome relationship seems impossible nowadays.

>commie sentiments started to grow
>south america left dictatorship
>people of the world screamed for the berlin wall to be demolished

make up your mind, faggot

>Stranger Things
That show is shit. It's not for Gen X, it's for millennials who think Gen x would like it.

I used to write actual letters to out of state cuties that I met!

Well the 80's and 90's here was full of degenerate IRA and British soldiers kicking the fuck out of each other all day.

We still had all the hallmarks of American culture imported, music, films, fashion etc. Just in our fucked up country so it was never comfy per se .

Which those things grew the communist sentiment.

It didn't though. All they did was fly three planes into 3 of your buildings.
Your life in America is not in danger from any Middle Eastern national.
Your current situation in America is 100% due to your own government.

The refugee crisis wasn't because of 9/11, it was because the CIA toppled several dictatorships (Saddam, Qaddafi) in the middle east, producing refugees in the ensuing conflicts.
If you guys didn't give in to blind nationalism post 9/11 and resolved the conflict intelligently you wouldn't feel this way.

becoming amish is always an option

>Stranger Things is not for Gen X
Yeah right, because the bulk of Gen Y loves Dig Dug and Dragon's Lair so much.

You had The Smiths Siousxie Sioux Bauhaus

Come on man Britain was awesome in the 80s

Minus Jimmy Savile of course...

there was no reason for the show to be set in the 80s except to horde in those "muh nostalgia" fans to watch it in the first place

>it was because the CIA toppled several dictatorships (Saddam, Qaddafi) in the middle east
Which sparked nationalism and subsequently threw the middle east to hell.
Look, I'm just saying things began to go downhill in the 80's, be it America or any other part of the world (that's why I mentioned South America).

It could be argued that the lack of cell phones and other modern technology helps create a proper setting for the situation.

these

itt: people from countries who are irrelevant in terms of geopolitics criticizing us for our military industrial complex for not simply evaporating after we accomplished the worthy goal of outlasting the USSR

only reason why we became a superpower in the first place was because Europe was destroyed after WW2, but dont let that get in the way of your unwarranted snobbery

South America has always been a hell hole user

lol yeah dude western civilization NEVER clashed with muslims before americans!

Increased amounts of minorities. This is unequivocally correct btw

Why did we do that to ourselves????

They were always socialistic yes, but no one ever wanted full communism there.
Hell, most disliked Cuba even before CIA intervened in their politics.

>The nation came into Luciferian control after WW2
You're mixing it up user.

What about all the sexism and racism being sweeped under the rug?

meanwhile, in the 80's retarded people where saying exactly the same bullshit about the 60's

*50's
You're fucking retarded the 60's was the counter culture everyone hated the 60's

Just turn off your brain and be yourself bro.

I wonder if in a few years the 80s will be utterly despised once everybody gets tired of 80s nostalgia being forced down their throats 24/7.

>"The Wonder Years" tracks life in the turbulent late 1960s and early '70s through the eyes of the increasingly less innocent Kevin Arnold

the 80's had a hardon for the 60's

The Wonder Years is a 90s show, moron

>1988
can you be any more retarded?

I deserve that.

the internet and the accelerated growth of neoliberal capitalism in the 90s in the wake of the cold war’s end

The 80 were awesome for Saville

It's a polticial issue

Democrats decided they want political singularity, so they opened the floodgates to all the dangerous shit in the world to not only thin down the numbers that can vote against them but to also increase the numbers that will.

It went away because of democrats. Sorry but it's true.

Not true. It was the 50s and not the 60s the 80s liked, but they didn't over-whelm their own 80s culture. And I am pretty sure the most of the fixation was on the cars.

When you correct for inflation 50's cars were probably at the peak of their value in the 80's, and a lot of movies and TV shows featured them.

Lol

How so user?

We're not talking about 'western civilization', we're talking specifically about USA (not even Canada).
I think Middle Easterners and muslims were always fairly indifferent towards Americans specifically until the United States interfered in their country's politics.
And I'd warrant to say that most muslims are STILL indifferent towards the United States right now, outside of the fact that they feel a sense of xenophobia (going both ways) souring their relations.

Actually I want to take back what I said earlier about the refugee crisis being because of toppling dictatorships. I think that's just something we want to believe, that meddling with other countries brings immediate negative repercussions. It's likely there are repercussions we can't even fathom that won't come into fruition long into the future.

There's nothing to suggest that the influx of refugees isn't just due to people from areas of low economic development or social instability, seeking a better life in other countries. Like Kosovo for example. And immigration is a two way street, these stats are for Europe and I don't know from which countries America is accepting them from, but the government obviously wants refugees or they wouldn't be accepting them.

I do stand by my previous assessment though that the major thing that has changed with America, most likely due to their response to the threat of terrorism post 9/11, is the perception of them as a 'force for good' (previously held mainly only by Europeans and Americans themselves). Virtually nothing else has really changed that can't be explained away by globalization, outsourcing of jobs or simply you growing up.

Disappearance of the small town - globalization.
Disappearance of middle class - outsourcing of jobs.
World no longer a magical place - you growing up.

Immigrants don't really factor into the mix as they're not really doing anything malign to anyone.

>fags always forgetting Gen X exists

I'm fine with it, t b h. The more you Millennials and Boomers are at each other's throats squabbling for scraps, the easier it is for us. Boomers are ailing aging narcissists and Millennials are useless, ineffectual narcissists, and you all deserve each other. Gen X and Gen Z can just be chill as we always have been.

But 2017 is fucking excellent, there has never been a better time to be a white American man. Bunch of whining, delusional babbies ITT

But Americans aren't aware of that. The typical Burger has no Idea of their governments funding and supporting of terrorists all over the world prior to 9/11. That's why the event went down in history as "shocking" because for most Americans it came out of nowhere, an unwarranted attack against "their freedoms". The Neo cons knew this and used the attack to implement Orwellian shit like the Patriot act (which got renamed under Obama to literally "Freedom act" holy kek).

So you plan on being useless and lazy all life?

pre 9/11 brother. The 80's were exseptionnaly great though because it was so diverse in terms of what was popular. Also, sex drugs & rock n roll.

Yes because being chill == "useless and lazy." I guarantee I make more money than you'll ever see in your lifetime, which is hilarious considering how hard you millennial losers rage about the dumbest shit ever. It's no secret my generation has utterly written you fags off and are holding places for Gen Z when they come to working age. Enjoy your eternal "consulting jobs" and Home Depot gigs.

kys

I liked the 80s/early 90s tech nostalgia that Halt and Catch fire showed anyone else? We had so much tech progress in that time with the birth of the pc standard.

As a minority this is very underrated.
People always automatically chalk up Americans as super racist, but from my own anecdotal experience. Most the hate are directed toward the foreigners who fail to assimilate to the social norms of the community and not attempting to learn/try English. I find it odd that when foreigners go to other countries they actually try and learn that language, but because America is such a "cultural mixing pot" they see no obligation to assimilate.

you should look up things that you don't know about before you post

America was going into recession at the end of the 90s, so the guys atop the pyramid decided they needed large scale wars to distrupt world economy, meanwhile making billions $ in arms deals. They pulled 9/11 on americans and blamed it on arabs. They said Bin Laden was in Afghanistan, they occupied the country tto take control of the opioid market, the talibans had banned poppy crop farming, today Afghanistan is the #1 producer. Then they invaded Iraq which had nothing to do with Al Qaida, and they went on with more wars that are still raging.

>Where the fuck did it all go wrong?

thank me later

Gen X and Z need to clean up the mess the Boomers and Millennials are leaving

>actually having to go to the school or public library to wrote your report on owls
>walking over to the neighbors house knocking on the door to see if your buddy can play. "man I hope his parents don't answer the door"
>calling your friends on a landline phone and talking about whats going on at school, who the cute girls are
>summertime adventures, with parents not knowing where there fuck the kids are
>finding subbed anime was treasure because dubs were so bad. (But somehow it's even worse now days...)
>be middle school kid with crush on the nice goth barista who chats you up

I miss it all

The owls are not what they seem

...

>The 80s-90s were literally America's golden years.

Kill yourself.

Who here is an early Millennial (born between 1980 and 1992)?
I feels as though this section of Millennials managed to escape much of the cultural Marxism and political correctness being shoved down their throats at a young age, when you see all this crazy shit coming out of universities it tends to come from those born 1995 onwards.
I dunno if anyone else has observed this.

The show is set in the 80's but the creators are 90's kids. Actually a lot of stuff in the show gives me 90's nostalgia, not 80's... but maybe that's because my town was like 5-10 years out of fashion.

i suppose its no big deal to you when terrorist attacks happen every week over in europistan you fucking faggot
