There's plenty of artists who've gotten by doing original things

It's just that no one gives a shit about originality, they just want something that appeals to their taste

Why do you care so much?

You make new things by combining old things.

Yeah, it's called Steven Universe. And it's still hated here.

But how else do you into originality, user?

No, a good example is Evangelion, because Anno had a full understanding of his influences.
A bad example is Steven Universe, where all the influences are taking to a superficial level.

Not combining the old things 1:1. Steven often just lifts imagery, fight scenes, sometimes entire characters like Peridot being ZIM.

Gennedy does a good job at it. He uses multiple homages and makes something fresh. Pen Ward didn't just make "The Legend of Zelda: The Cartoon". You can find a lot of parallels between Ducktales and Gravity Falls, but they still feel different enough that you can enjoy one but not the other.

Something like SU just feels like DBZ fan fiction.

>because Anno had a full understanding of his influences
Didn't he shoehorn in biblical references solely because it looked cool?

_ ____ __ ____ ____ _____

Yeah, he said so. I'm talking about how EVA is chimerized with Super Robot and Kaiju influences, yet it all comes out as it's own identifiable thing.

Isn't what they're talking about crossovers? Like how everyone creams their pants for Kingdom Hearts because it mashes two popular things (Final Fantasy and Disney) together, regardless of how terrible and jank and poorly fitting the two properties are?

>the so called original artist start doing the same shit again and again because he notices that it is what people like

Nothing new.

Where are the panels where the guy has to pander his ass off in order to get micro amounts of online attention? Social justice issues, generic slice-of-life comics, relatable cutesy shit, hot waifus that pander to a certain fetish?

Cause this guy sure as hell ain't getting this attention because of his sci-fi OC and little character write-ups.

>anything that you likes to writte/draw is pandering, and it's bad

>unless you are unpopular

Seriously, Sup Forums is the dumbest board.

The comic is still stupid.

>State four very specific things
>GEEZE WHY DON'T YOU JUST BAN ALL TYPES OF CREATIVITY WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!

Yeah, Sup Forums is really the dumbest board.

I hate the obsession with "originality" because it usually leads to people devaluing other works because they're part of a series or take inspiration from other things

And the people who pump out a bunch of shitty undeveloped "original" works who don't understand why no one is paying attention to them

Owlturd is tumblr humor, memes, self-loathing/harming and a lot of "hurr durr Im unable to stablish relationship with normies", don't expect quality from somebody that uses tumblr nose so proudly. Same goes for this girl sarah.

>It's a "shitty webcomic artist shills his shitty webcomic under the guise of an interested user and begins the cycle of having everyday generals because the mods are faggots who won't acknowledge that shitty webcomic threads only serve to enable Sup Forums and Sup Forums cancer to further infest the board" episode

Did you only hop on the train during the Rebuild stuff? Because the original series was a fucking mess of plot holes, broken budgets, and an ending that was retconned TWICE.

It was groundbreaking for certain, but part of "groundbreaking" means fucking up along the way. It's kinda hilarious to see anyone using Eva now to shit on SU, given all the otaku rage it induced back in the day.

Seriously, where's all this shade that Sugar doesn't "understand her own influences" coming from? "She just doesn't, okay!?" isn't an answer, either.

The point is, if you want to look for it, you will notice that most of it exist on the things that you enjoy anyway. Hell, none of it is even inherently bad or good.

>Tumblr, memes, Tumblr

What a quality meme thing to say.

"Existing" and "being popular" are two different things, you know.

There's a ton of high quality rendered art on Tumblr that rarely gets attention but the stick figure "What I did today" shit does. And don't say "Well the second one has meaning and feeling, it's relatable" because that shit is just as over saturated as highly rendered knights and army guys.

I just find that getting worked over it really meanless and kind of entitled.

So grown the fuck up and do something to make people care about what you do, instead of crying over not having the attention that you think you deserve, from people whose taste you despise.

>So grown the fuck up and do something to make people care about what you do
LOL
spoken like a true faggot who panders and has no idea what he's talking about

can't just "make people" give a shit

if that were the case, adult animation would be in full force rather than subjugated to a niche only crowd

also posting fanart porn which is literally the ultimate pander doesn't help your case at all

Waste of numbers.

>getting worked over now for the usage of "make people give a shit".

Just saying that you choose to spend your time impotent and shaking your hand at clouds, getting angry for people not liking what you do, instead of trying to capture the hearth of people with original content.

I would even say that your view is really childish, unprofessional even.

>Anything owlturd does
>Original
Also that comic was gay as fuck way to many balls touching.

>it's easy to just make people like you're work! if anyone struggles, it's their own fault!

yeah i guess that's why seth rogen has better pull in the industry and box office than ralph bakshi.

we're speaking exclusively about popularity which means numbers, faggot. not just appealing to two or three dozen people.

What would you say about it then?
Is not that good of a comic either. Is rather fun, but it mostly relies on that things that user said.

>positive rebuttals

what is this, a tumblr safespace?

>And it's still hated here.
Wow no wonder it has a constantly active general.
