Zack Snyder: "Grant Gustin doesn't fit my tone"

>Zack Snyder: "Grant Gustin doesn't fit my tone"
>Makes the Flash lamer, whinier, quippier and more jobbing than the CW at its worst.

What did he mean by this?

Well, he got the last laugh.

He meant
>he's not flaming faggot enough!

I bet all the lame shit was Whedon's doing.

Synder didn't write the film so that's not his fault.

>This much denial

Behold the very first JL trailer. 100% Snyder.

youtube.com/watch?v=fIHH5-HVS9o

He calls the shots and came up with Barry's entire characterization.

I'd much rather be Grant Gustin right now desu senpai. In terms of career prospects and job security.

CWverse is a lot more dignified and coherent than the DCFU abortion, and that's saying something because the CWverse is pretty shit right now.

...

Funny because the worst Thor movie is still better than the best Superman movie.

Ben's face looks so much better here.

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?

member season 1 and 2 of arrow?
member when Dr Wells phasekilled Cisco?

Apparently arrow season 5 was good

You must be a fucking retard to think any of the Thor movies are better than the Donner Superman films.

Nothing bad with those scenes, though. I've seen what the CW has done with the Flash, and its pretty shit. Can't blame them too much for their budget, but why make something you know cant be at its best?

>People actually believe this
You're trying too hard

Season 4 of THE FLASH is fun, too. Next episode looks great.

youtube.com/watch?v=A3YX6C7sNU4

No. Superman and Superman II are still top cape films

The Flash was always about quips, that's his entire character aside from being fast

CW Flash has a terrible costume. It kills me that DCEU’s power ranger costume is better.

Look at grants FUCKING HELMET.

Man its funny how 10 mil is the difference between record breaking and an underperformance huh?

Not him, but true enough. Should have specified Snyder Superman movies.

>that time Snyder was shit-talking Ant-Man

That's Wally's character. Barry is shit

No it wasn't. Barry had his "flash facts" but that is forensic scientist Barry. Wally and Jay didn't quip and Wally in particular could be pretty brooding. All recent adaptations of the Flash are basically Wally with Barry's name because Wally is actually interesting and but Barry's name carries more weight. JL Flash is more like Bart Allen, a character that no one likes or remembers.

lel JL has to make like 700m to break even

>What is the difference between Thor and the fucking JUSTICE LEAGUE

Snyder is very arrogant for a man with mostly failure's

The Flash isn't really a good show, but I'd blame both the awful writing team and the CW budgets on that. Grant is actually pretty damn good.

Its going to reach that easily even being shit

>failures
Such as?

About 5 successful films and a competent director

The Donner films are nearly unwatchable, overly sentimental poop. Not even the first Superman is that good. Ferrigno's Hulk was a better superhero movie.

Also about $120 million in production budget

>No Superman movie
What a fuckwit. Is he really that arrogant that he doesn't think there was ever a Superman movie before he came along?
I mean by the time Thor got his big movie break, Supes had already had 5 outings.

I'm not really sure what a "soyboy" is....but I'm pretty sure the new flash taking about fighting the hetero-normative patriarchy make him one.

It's pretty good. Season 3 might've been a trainwreck, but season 1 was still better than pretty much all DCEU movies, and season 2 had some of the highest highs despite being uneven as fuck.

They certainly suffered from using their strongest antagonist and storyline on season 1, though.

Considering that Marvel made a Billion + off an avengers movie with their B-list characters. And Zach Snyder can't make a superhero movie with 2/3 most famous superheroes reach 1 billion it's a fucking failure.

Did I say it wasn't going to be a failure? It will get over 700 though

The guy put 9/11 allegories and destruction porn into a superhero movie...

You honestly expect him to understand what makes Superman tick? You get a character that is all about emotional maturity and you give him to a director that made Suckerpunch. That's what MoS ended up being, a fucking mess made for 12 year old boys.

Reminder that The Flash is literally the cringiest shit on television.

Oops replied to the wrong comment.

Meant to reply to

I unironically believe Reverse Flash is the best lice action villain

All Flash stories are all about he just runs JUST THAT MUCH FASTER then the other guy.

Flash is a boring character with 1 trick up his sleeve. I'm amazed that people actually like him. But then again, I'm a superman-fag so what do I know.

>DC flagship barely breaks even
It's all downhill from here, you know that right? I can't wait for the mass DCuck suicide of 2019.

He's better than movie Flash at least

It's a B-Series.
It's good because of how stupid it is.
(Except the Musical episode. You can't mix cringe with singing.)

In a perfect world, the Flash would be a like Spider-Man, the 90s (or was it 80s?) cartoon if I'm honest about what I'd like to see.

Destruction has its place in Superhero films. But it has to be earned. Like if what happened to Metropolis in MoS happened in a third film against Darkseid I would be fine with it. If anything they would have got off lightly

Let's hope for DC to just pull the trigger on the whole thing. hopefully they remake Superman and give him the wholesome movie he deserves.

checked

Yeah its not good. But let's see what happens. They made MoS after Returns lost them a fortune after all

Yeah agreed, I don't think it makes much sense to blow a giant hole and have thousands upon thousands of off-screen deaths in the first superman movie. I don't think he is really the platform you want to push that kind of movie off of.

>I feel like he’s right. But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavour of the week Ant-Man – not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?

The flash running around and cracking jokes? That would be awesome. They really should have made Cisco a more serious type and had Barry be the joker.

alcohol between reshoots.
this man needs serious help.

Based GOD Snyder

I am a DC fanboy and I wholeheartedly agree. They should have had a couple superman, batman, and wonderwoman movies before they tried making justice league. The batman movies should have been gritty while the superman were brighter. I do like how they made superman in the MoS have a true moral dilemma though, making him have to choose to save a family over his own moral code, making him choose humanity over Krypton. I would have had him do it by having only being able to save metropolis or Kandor from brainiac, but that is me.

They could have introduced the Green Lanterns in a superman movie, Cyborg or Flash in a batman movie.

I really just want a good live action version of Justice League War.

Even if he was, I think the issue is that it gets into the side of power creep that people don't really think about. Like the issue with Dragon Ball as the flagship example of power creep isn't just that you have no measure for when a character is in peril or not, but also that the world around them just ignore it for the most part, like they don't even notice the destruction of the Moon. Worse, it reacts but tries to remain grounded and approachable.
In BvS, sure people were talking about Superman and the destruction of Metropolis, but they were talking about him and the threat that other Kryptonians and whatever else is out there was some Middle-East dictatorship level threat.
As batshit insane as Lex was portrayed, it's ridicolous that he was the only person until Wayne to actually try and weaponize Kryptonite, the government outright refusing to weaponize the stuff, even though there's a hundred and one reasons to weaponize a compoud that only affects the godlike aliens who tried to take over the world and would have succeeded if not for this one guy who the government is not even sure is on their side.
It feels more like Superman accidentally destroyed a national landmark while catching a plane, than having participated in the single most destructive "man-made" event in US history.
And it makes sense why they wouldn't play it up any more than that, because they can't. Because it's Superman's origin story, people don't yet adore him, so they can't have the government give him a free pass in their panic. So instead, the government just doesn't panic, even though it has every reason to.

...

Not a MoS fan but I agree, there can be a good Superman movie out there with a edgier Superman. But keep it an elseworlds story. Do Injustice for all I care, don't pretend like the MoS superman is the "actual superman" because he's not.

I don't understand why they didn't just make 2 different superman movies, one for the wholesome Superman fans, and one for the younger "superman is boring so let's go fucking nuts" crowd.

Right now, DC is trying to appeal to both, and failing at both.

Yeah. I was also thinking maybe an episode like the one where Peter took a kid home, explained to him how his web-shooters work, and just had a little heart-to-heart while he recovered from a sprain or something.
The Flash could totally do something like that.
>Flash saves a bus
>Everyone thanks him, and he's about to go, when he notices this one kid just standing there by himself, looking lost
>He asks him what's wrong, the kid, about 10 tells him that the bus is broken, and he doesn't have another ticket to go home
>"Can you call your mom or dad to pick you up?"
>"They said I'm not old enough for a phone yet."
>Barry then offers to give him a ride, and has a chat with him about how the kid feels like school is just more of the same every day, and that he doesn't really know what the point of it is, and how other kids/one of his parents keep telling him he won't amount to anything, wishing that he would get powers like the Flash too
>Barry then tells him about how running through the city how many different kinds of people he sees, how many paths through life they've taken. He tells him that while some people might have a fast track on life, he can tell: Everyone takes their own life one step at a time, and that the kid shouldn't worry about these things too much. Look for something he's interested in. If he wants to be a hero, there's a lot of ways to help the police, or the sick. And how sometimes even just being there for a friend is a greater deed than stopping a man who can walk through mirrors.

It actually was.

It would be so easy to have Superman be the catalyst for the rise of superheros and make it feel organic. Just use Brainiac in the first film. Start the GL film showing Abin trying to stop it getting to Earth. Flash is given his powers like the show but its from STAR labs Mesa ng with stuff from brainiacs ship. Bruce Wayne has just been a vigilante but sees these heroes and realizes he needs to be something more.

Grant Gustin looks like a normal dude

Snyder casts shitty actors that look like super-models, that's his "tone"

He's in the top 3 for sure.

Ezra is really off putting in real life. His comments against straight white men annoy me and I'm gay myself

>reddit immediately seeking upvotes by talking about old versions of superman
please kys

Same. He's literally "muh patriarchy" meme

He grew up around women all his life, and is clearly drinking the kool-aid on top of being a sheltered California Liberal

>Reddit

Fuck off cunt

He's just a liberal virtue signaling, it happens.

Making every last thing endlessly interconnected takes away from the fun of comics. In comics everything goes, and every story is true. Bending every last thing from the Greek gods to alien entities to be a single story about Mother Boxes or whatever is asinine.

At the least Marvel is throwing stones into stories, rather than rewriting all stories to be about stones.

I still fucking hate that the Eye of Agamatto is one though. God damn that's dumber than the rest combined.

How is his cousin not such an... idiot?

They wouldn't be that connected. After GL gets his ring and Flash his speed they would be there own stories. They're just little details. I retract my Batman idea though. I wasn't sold on that even when I wrote it

See but then when the GL films start, you've nixed the idea of Atrocitus on board the ship due to Abin's mission to head off the coming Blackest Night.

I think it's pretty apparent Man of Steel was just going to be A superman movie but they hastily used it as the stepping stone for their copying of marvel, because they desperately needed to play catchup to be at the point marvel are at where they can make obscurities into blockbusters. That's why they immediately jumped into crossovers right out of the gate, and why they sped so fast into a crammed Justice League. Unfortunately, they didn't quite realized that it was doomed from the start because the classic DC comics theme- the optimistic superman compared to the grim batman- can't exist; they set off with an already dour superman inspired by the (then recent) batman films to begin with.

What you mean I won't have to do Johns Rainbow Lantern shit?

I'm eternally baffled by the decision to hire a writer and director who show fairly open disdain for the character.

Why they seem so ashamed of the much loved first two films from the 70's.

Like, yeah Superman is dated and corny. He was dated and corny when he was brand new. He was dated and corny when he sold millions of copies. People say that, but they'll still flock to see the movies about this dated, corny character if the movies are well told with heart.

Sorry you're not big on the one era where GL had serious plot going on, and one of the largest mythos expanding eras of comics history.

Objective truth.

>Marvelpajeets working overtime to discredit JL at all costs

Save your strength, have a curry.

Captain America is dated and corny. Its part of the charm. WB doesn't get that. Or they just have since Superman is really corny in JL

Such a shame we'll never get to see what it would have been.
45 minutes of character introductions and an inciting incident around the 2 hour mark followed by an hour of solid action with no peril or motivation.

True. We already had the Avengers by MoS, didn't we? The reaction to perfectly cornball all American nice guy Steve was incredibly positive, right? So what stick up their ass suits saw all of this and went with MoS? Granted, Nolan picked Snyder. A decision I'm still baffled by.

>serious plot
>zombie lanterns

Hal's descent into Parallax was a serious plot. That was popcorn shit

I said serious as in a long continuing plot. Yeah it was big over the top stuff. It was fun. It added complexity to the lore.

And Hal's descent into Parallax was rushed poorly told shit and you know it. It took Johns to add some damned sense to that era whether you'll admit it not.

Poor reaction to Superman Returns caused MoS. When they saw MoS made almost double what Returns did they thought that's what people wanted. Also I'd say at the time of Avengers Cap wasn't that popular. His film was the second worst performing and Wheedon made him look like a dweeb. Winter soldier was the turning point

>Zack Snyder: "Grant Gustin doesn't fit my tone"
Zack Snyder isn't responsible for JL

When he said that, he was.

>We've lost our minds

Here's not wrong

>Put the thing that is designed to grab the audience's interest at the two hour mark

There's being auteur, then there's being autistic.

>Ezra Miller is the Flash

You're literally retarded

ok

>Snyder makes half a film
>Whedon finishes it
>If it sucks it's Snyder's fault
>If it's good it's beause of Whedon
It's flawless

when the cinematic universe shit was first announced, i expected they would do superman, batman and wonder woman solo films then have their first team-up be "world's finest" which they could have used to introduce the flash and cyborg towards the end.

Why do people think DCAU is good? I tried to watch to some of it on youtube and they were even more retarded than MCU flicks.

>>Snyder makes half a film
>>Whedon finishes it
>>If it sucks it's Snyder's fault
>>If it's good it's beause of Whedon
pretty much my point

Whedon even got extra money and time

Impressive

Should have had Louis CK as the flash, I hear he's into that sort of thing.
