What comics would you like to see as movie?

American shit not allowed

one piece

Just to see what they would do with it. Would it be swords and sorcery, politics, religion, feminism criticism or what?

Les Cités obscures (whichever album, they're almost all among the best dystopian sci-fi stories ever), but Brüsel or La Tour would be the best.
Also The Incal if directed by someone who understands what the fuck they're doing would be a miles better story than the Metabarons.

asian crap also not allowed

Don't know if it will end or not. I think FMA of HxH would be way better. Just give me the chimera ant arc and i'll die a happy man.

IF adapted properly:

>Corto Maltese (with me as The Monk)
>Blueberry (good luck finding actors that look like them)
>Blake and Mortimer (they can turn ONE (1) of the characters of The Secret of the Swordfish, an LOTR Tier trilogy known for having literally no female characters, not even as extras, into a woman)
>Thorgal
>maybe Alix. Sex scenes with him and Enak are allowed

Also, Jodo is shit and diverted Giraud's talent. We could have had more Blueberry comics if not for Jodo

>jodorowsky
lmao what a hack, even in the Sup Forumsloring book world

Ranxerox

An anthology of Splatter (the italian horror mag) stories like Creepshow

Hellstar Remina

Battle Angel Alita (this would be better as a tv series)

>Idris Elba as Gandalf the Mad

But they already did a Blueberry adaptation user
And for whatever the fuck reason it's not even called Bluebery in burgerland.
And it's of course complete and utter shit, while adapting the best albums of the serie (la Mine de l'Allemand perdu/ Spectre aux balles d'or)

This is actually the one album of thorgal I always wanted to be turned into a film, specially because it is light on the high tech stuff

But the world is not ready for half-viking half-northern mythology half-atlantis half-superman kino

I just wanted a good Valerian adaptation for fuck's sake ;_;
Why did you let us down Luc ?

...

>thinking I consider that an adaptation
And the best albums are actually General Yellowhead and Outlaw-Angel Face

Also this

Plus theprequel of the Quest of the Bird of Time

...

The Tombstone cycle is better than the Outlaw cycle. Fite me.

>Also The Incal
Tricky one that. I love it but it has aged. You'd need to embrace the 80's wackyness, and that would scare studios shitless.
Jodorowski would be a fucking pain in the ass to deal with as well.
IMO only a guy like Besson could pull it off.

Movie looks absolutely great, shame everything else is from meh to shit

...

Admittedly it should be a mini-series rather than a movie.

...

...

The storytelling hasn't aged an inch, it's still one of the best stories ever told in comics.
Some of the visuals might have aged a bit, but overall, the space sequences can be left almost untouched visually (ship designs, etc...), and the most "outdated" visual elements can draw inspiration from Before the Incal and Final Incal (even though this one is not great at all it still has its moments).

Besson could maybe have done it twenty years ago, now I don't even understand what the fuck he's trying to do.
I mean, he managed to fuck up Valerian all while knowing the auhtors personally and having had them work on the 5th Element. He always said that Valerian is one of his favorite comics of all times but he was completely unable to catch on camera any of what makes it so fucking good in the first place.
He would do fuck all with the Incal but a visually ambitious convoluted mess I fear.
Jodorowsky couldn't have done it either, it would have been a 12 hours long acid trip and the release would have been cancelled after tripling its original budget and failing to produce anything in over three years of filming.

>Jodorowski would be a fucking pain in the ass to deal with as well.
he's 88 fucking years old. give it a couple more years.

The Black Moon Chronicles (French: Chroniques de la Lune Noire)

That would attract the Lotr and GoT, warcraft and warhammer crowd like honey attract flies.
Take note HBO, this won't cost you 1 billion$ to buy the rights!

this. who'd be THICC enough to play her?

forgot the pic

Looks like generic hollywood sci-fi garbage nr. 355.
It's right between nu-trek and guardians of the galaxy in the lands of forgettable visual trash.

I don't know if this count as American or not

>itt shit that will never happen or if it does it will only be in name and not in content

Imagine having to work on a set with Jodorowsky on one side of the room and Jean Giraud (Moebius) on the other....
Enough to make any director, producer and studio executive go fucking insane.
No wonder any of their work together hasn't been adapted yet. Just a few more years indeed.

I don't disagree, but it has aged not from the storytelling nor visuals perspective, but some of the dialogues in the original french version are clearly dated. Nothing too hard to overcome mind you.
And yeah i kinda agree with Besson, although his weakness has always been his scripts and silly obsessions with females, and valerian is no exception. You have the silly musical scene as usual, you have a multitude of introductions as usual, you have top models in the cast as usual. What he needs is a strong producer to tell him "no" once in a while, but since he's his own producer he has turned into a french George Lucas, surrounded by yes men and loosing his touch little by little. Shame really.

>Jean Giraud (Moebius) on the other....
He's been dead for a few years now user

>Wanting a Cerebus movie
FUCK NO. They would either try to make it a kid friendly shitfest or make it LE EPIC CURSING AND DRINKENG like memepool. Thankfull Sim is a huge proponent of being independent and has essentially intentionally blacklisted himself so it never happens.

I know that (and it pains me). But he was still one of the biggest pain in the ass to work with as far as French and Belgian comics authoir go.

>brain male in woman body
cancer will never allow that

>No American shit
Fuck off. Comic faithful Mask adaptation from Nolan.

Alex Alice's Siegfried

youtube.com/watch?v=yDoJMwjs0I8

>Anyone in Hollyjew touching Cerebus
Never ever happening. Even if Dave Sim chopped off all of his limbs and became a house servant to BLM would anyone there ever let this happen.

fucking hell give me more dredd
as much as I love dredd 3d, it didn't really feel that 2000 AD

> John Boyega as Thorgal, Margot Robbie as Aaricia, Lupita Nyongo as Kriss de Valnor, le 56% face as Jolan

>fully realized glimmer rats
My dick wants this.

Delet this

That would certainly be kino.

>this garbage heap will probably get adapted faithfully before any good comics will

>comics
But what expect from guardfag brainlet.

They're working on one. With Sim's approval. Look up Cerebus Film on facebag or check out
whatcomix dot blogspot dot co dot uk

...

Love it, but nobody would be crazy enough to make a faithful adaptation.

Kieron Gillen is a try hard failed journalist and game creator, I hate his smug, pretentious face.

Kill Six Billion Demons would be fairly sweet visually

Fat latino Del Toro could.

IS that Joe Rogan?

> still hasnt finished

I hope to god Dave has the foresight to have funded it himself and has the authority to can it if it's shit. It looks like it's done in 3d which will no doubt be a trainwreck. They couldn't get Berserk right in 3d after 3 whole films. What makes him think they'll get anywhere close to Gerhardts ungodly talent.

That's franco-belgian comics for you.
Valerian took 44 years to complete, XIII took about 30 years, Les Chroniques de la Lune Noire 20 years, etc...

Also Murena adaptation after a few other seasons of Rome to catch up between Augustus and Nero

Sir Arthur Benton would aslo make for an amazing WW2 thriller / spying movie.

...

Blame! Just cause im curious how the visuals would be

They'd be shit.

American comics are objectively the best

I'd watch this. I'd probably prefer it as a mini-series on HBO or Netflix or something though.

...

>AND I WAS RAPING JODOROWSKY
>RAPING HIM!
>But with love, with love.

Technically warhammer does have comics, and is British, thus meets the criteria of this thread.

I would love to see a movie made about daemonifuge

Looks like God has already tried to stop it once.

It also has at least one animated film that was pretty good.

Give me original dark elves pls.

the metabarons is shit tho

it's well drawn, but it's still shit
nothing more sad than a well crafted stuff that tells nothing

No one read this but me :-(

>Sadric
fucking really

Is the villain called Evilric?

...

>all men
>only one darkie

user, I...

>Ranxerox
they'd fuck it up by making Lubna a 20 year old feminist or something

It would have to be a gay porno.

I have read literal gay porn comics that are less gay than Elric. It's hilarious.

>all those A Listers in a movie about toys made for children

Got some bad news for you user

>wanting Based Iain Glen to have a mohawk
The fuck is wrong with you!?

Bone.

I really liked Bone

>American shit not allowed
Like I give a fuck. More Clowes (seriously, Ghost World is his most boring GN), fucking Lapham (as a Netflix series), Charles Burns, etc. Junji Ito is too wacky to warrant a succesful TV series or a movie, so a pass on that.
No siema.

>watching television and movies at all
>not working 16 hours a day and raising twelve kids
Way to ruin western civilization you literal child

Druuna will never be made, not with a big budget it deserves at least. Too much sex and violence for them to pull it off without fucking it up.

It actually would be nice from Disney to do a direct adaptation of this.

Come on Disney, do one, decent thing in your modern day existence.

It would work only as an animation, I think. I'd love to see its style directly transferred on screen, so a high budget animation would be a great way to adapt it.

manchildren have a lot of disposable income to milk

This... There are tons of potential.

How? I thought they didn't have jobs? I wish the definition of manchildren would stay consistant and not change depending on what vacuous arguement someone wanted to make.

i like stuff like crumb or burns but most of american comics are capeshit and that's shit

european and japanese comics are superior imo

Give it a rest user, Jadorowky's Dune is never going to happen. Even if it did it wouldn't be as good as Lynch's Dune.

and so would you Sup Forums

Dune is not a comic book my man

Dark Matter

Uber, it isn't finished but it would make a great tv series if picked up by someone with a budget

there is a dune comic book from the time jodoriwsky was involved with the film adaptation, illustrated by moebius

No you idiot. Moebius was involved in storyboards and concept art for the Dune film that Jodorowski wanted to make. Jesus fucking Christ you can't even follow the plot thread of a documentary.

Holy shit, i remember that book

>storyboards and concept art
you just said "comic book" in so many words

My man Dylan Dog should get a re-treatment. Cemetery Man was pretty good but we can go more ambitious, and Dead of Night was awful.
The thing is, nobody would watch it except Italians, Balkanfags and maybe some Brits.
