When I first watched it I thought it was really good. It excited me how it felt like a whole different show, with like it's own alien races and lore. Don't much care for it now, although the transition from the Doctor picking up the phone and holding the memory worm is still great. And the memory worms in general are neat (I know they're from a previous episode)

I feel like with the rise of melted brain wojacks this guy could become a meme.

So did the Children in Need TUaT teaser happen? What was it? anyone got a link?

it's tomorrow dumbdumb

The Time Meddler is one of Doctor Who's greatest finales.

I'm american, I barely even know what Children in Need is other than you've got a big yellow bear with a polka-dot eyepatch

That's pretty much it desu. Comic Relief/Red Nose Day is much more straight forward.

It's struck me that the annoying thing about both Time Heist and Hide's "the monster was trying to reach its partner" resolutions is not the plot point itself (which is benign), but the fact that they try overly hard to make it accessible, by suddenly framing the inarticulate monsters as some kind of fucking Romeo and Juliet. Mainly through the Doctor's dialogue. It turns the uncanny and poignant movements of alien beasts into some kind of tacky heterosexual romcom.

I know it's not the point you're making but I agree that making the aliens gay would've improved both episodes x100

at least they didn't give the female counterparts the ice queen treatment and add lipstick and eyemakup and fucking hair (or did they? its been awhile since ive seen hide and time heist)

No that would have been even more retarded.

actually no, user's right, that would've been cooler, and it would've changed things just enough that the ending is no longer a slight re-tread of Hide

4am4 thread

Just bought my tickets for the cinema showing of TUaT. I'm starting to hype lads.

it's comfy though

I wouldn't say gay necessarily, but make it truly alien with a species that only has one sex or something

It's forgettablekino

lym are you here?

that's gay

Halfway through Paradise Towers, it's kino! It has that exact same quality that the lighthearted fluff episodes of NuWho have, which I've not seen in Classic Who so far
Also I absolutely love Sylvester, even though it's still early silly clown Sylvester.

Feels like an RTD-era episode. What other classic series episodes feel like new who? The Robots of Death felt like it had a really modern sense of pacing.

youtube.com/watch?v=1uK5JTeLoU0
>You suck dick every minute of every day, that sounds... gay

Weird to think that Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways was the first proper regeneration story since as far back as The Caves of Androzani

I just came to this conclusion a few minutes ago too, when I was trying to mentally rank regeneration episodes.

Survival.

RED KANGS ARE THE BEST KANGS

Mawdryn Undead feels like a really primitive version of a Moffat script
Vengeance on Varos could've fit into Series 1 desu

A lot of McCoykino is similar to NuWho. I'd add City of Death.

Enemy of the World, at least for the first episode anyway.

how do they isolate the dialogue and remove background music from scenes?

t. editlet

No idea, I'm just an admirer

teach me, user. so i can make bad doctor who videos too

Depending on how the 5.1 audio is mixed, you can potentially do some sound wave inversion wizardry to cancel out the music from the track that has the dialogue

If the movie or tv show you want to do that to was released in surround sound, you can isolate the centre track which usually just contains the dialogue. A did this a lot for my /who/ audios.
If it's in stereo it's trickier, but you can EQ heavily to push down the music in some cases.

Is it weird that I don't care that Lily Travers looks nothing like Anneke Wills? If they fucked up the recasting of someone like Sarah Jane or Jamie, that'd be annoying. But I don't really give a shit about what Polly looks like.

this sounds complicated, is there like a magic "do this" button or do I actually have to learn something?

I don't give a shit that either of them are even in the episode. Wouldn't have bothered me if they weren't cast at all and just remained off-screen.

There's no magic button but dragging a 5.1 mkv into Audacity, deleting all the tracks except the centre dialogue track, then exporting that audio file isn't too tricky, and you don't have to phase shift or manipulate EQ for that simple method

it takes a couple clicks in audacity
mlptf2mods.com/tutorials/resource-materials/
apologies for the subject matter but that explains how you isolate audio from that show, I've been able to do similar with other things before but it's all down to luck regarding how they mixed the audio

Your audios did it really well, it was very seamless. I especially liked 10 and Amy talking.

>forgettable
I think it would be remembered more fondly if it didn't come the week after the 11/10 that was Listen.
>cool monster design
>neat twist on heartless 12
>that Karabraxiatel tease
>that Abslom Daak reference
>big Tardis team: posthuman edition
It's a really fun episode imo.

Like all the leaked episodes, though, it was better in the workprint, particularly since the B+W made it more noiry and hid the cheesy attempt to make the hallways look different by lighting them in different colors.

n8, how would you rank all the Faction Paradox books you've read from best to worst?

>the 11/10 that was Liste
when will this meme end

What's your favourite NeGanon moment?

Mine is when someone asked Neo if he'd do a Hell Bent for Claudia and he responded with "If I were to do a Hell Bent it wouldn't be for her". The implication, of course, being that he would do it for McGanon instead.

awww

>NeGanon
It's GaNeon

Cute.

That's a hard one user. I suck at picking favorites, so to totally dodge your question, I'll just stick them in three tiers a la the classic GOAT/Good/Shit ranking style

>"This would win an award if it weren't part of an obscure offbrand Doctor Who spinoff" tier
The Book of the War: speaks for itself
This Town Will Never Let Us Go: dat comfy slow-by-design pacing
Dead Romance: my first Loz book and imo his best
Of the City of the Saved: prose style shook me the first few times I tried to read it, but once you get past that, it's a classic
Newtons Sleep: good twists, great setting, incredible portrayal of Great Houses What I wouldn't give for the Loz edit
Against Nature: good everything. What I wouldn't give for The Empty Days

>"Really good" tier
Interference: I'm counting this but not Alien Bodies, since that one's FP in a Dr Who novel, whereas this one is really the Doctor in a FP novel
Warlords of Utopia: this is the first FP book I read, based on the cool-sounding premise, so I have a very soft spot for it
Erasing Sherlock: not my favorite genre but it still rocks
A Romance in Twelve Parts: good anthology, given that I generally prefer novels to anthologies
Burning in Optimism's Flames: same as above
Head of State: great format and incredible Arabian Nights imitation
Weapons Grade Snake Oil: classic feelgood pulpy scifi

>"Great but not my fave" tier
Warring States: good characters, but the plot doesn't really grip me
The Brakespeare Voyage: epic scale and great worldbuilding, but some of the main characters are hella unlikeable
Liberating Earth: this had some good stories but also some duds

And while I'm at it:
Planned vision for comic > Planned vision for Protocols > True History > actual comic > actual Protocols

Kept bumping into the char limit, so separate reply: what about you, user?

Romance in Twelve Parts > Alien Bodies > Of the City of the Saved > Dead Romance > Interference > The Town Will Never Let Us Go > Burning with Optimism's Flames > Liberating Earth

That's interesting user -- I'll have to reread ARiTP, since I don't remember much of it besides "Now or Thereabouts" and obviously "Hundred Words from a Civil War". Thanks for sharing! And I hope you enjoy the Books of the Enemy and Peace!

I was thinking about having kids. Got the names picked out. They’re going to be Donut and The Golden Hen. I know what you’re thinking: How do you know they’re going to be girls? But a mother knows. A mother knows.

I don't get it

Is there anything good airing on British TV at the moment, or do I have to settle for Robot Wars?

I mean... Gordon Ramsay has a new show.

Which of the Pie Lord's cravats is best; blue, red, or yellow? I want to say blue, but the shade is all wrong. It needs to be darker.

Absolute madman

>the two companions from time heist will never ever return
It hurts a little. Capaldi, Psy, and Saibra would be a GOAT tardis team

astonished you can even remember their names

Imagine having this for a father.

I like the idea of a really beautiful actor playing the Doctor. There's something slightly alien about models. I loved MS. His face is interestng but dan he has a nice body. :)

NeGanon
Lymbeen

>tfw seventh wheel

"Leg warmers! That's what I need!", decided the Doctor. She pulled some stripy ones up her legs.

Doctor material?

I remember you saying way back when 13th Doctor speculation was really kicking in. Unless you're a different user, of course

Why do I wish I were The Doctor when I am a straight biological male currently undergoing gender transitioning?

I swear every episode of The Chase has at least one scene that begins with the actors all standing still and waiting for their cue to begin walking/acting.

Because you're currently regenerating, Doctor, don't be scared. This is going to be an entirely new experience for you, but I have faith that you're going to see it through.

I think I saw another user suggest Katie at the time, now I come to think of it.

stupid boardie. that bait has been posted here for literally years, and is a meme originally from some other board

speaking of boardies, i made this for use whenever boardies ruin another thread

D-doctor?

>captcha joke
I like it

>tacky heterosexual romcom

Thought you meant Bradley Walsh's quiz show.

...

Got a horrendous cold. Bedbound. Help me anons.

you fucking nerd lmao

At least it's not cancer.

>tfw you were the one that came up with the term "boardie" and you've watched it blossom into something unstoppable

Drink some tea with honey in it and watch The Talons of Weng-Chiang.

Who /excitedforchildreninneed/ here?

children in sneed

oh fug i forgot, how long?

will it just be on the beeb?

19:30 BST I think? And yeah, no idea when the DW teaser will be though. I'm pretty sure it's normally near the start.

yeah 19.30 but it's GMT
9 and a half hours from now anyway

also the clip will be later than that but it'll be in the first hour for sure

"who hired Tumblr to be the fashion director"

"This may appeal to certain elements of doctor who's newly found fanbase"

Yep,it does. I had a quick scan over twitter the afternoon this abomination was released and the usual "types" were lauding it and enthusing over how wonderful next series was going to be now they have the TARDIS team, writer and new costume of their dreams...
Look,it's time for a lot of us to just let the show go. Over the last 10 years Doctor Who has become something else. It's become less of a science fiction show and more of a platform for diversity/representation and social justice issues.

Doctor Who has been infiltrated from the showrunners/producers and writers to this generation of fans who spend their days on twitter and tumblr getting triggered by anyone who has an alternative opinion to themselves.

If there are enough people left who support the show still watching next series then it deserves to survive. If the show tanks, (like a lot of us believe it will) at least it will flush away the cancerous elements in both fandom and those working on the show.

Please stop posting this stuff because all it does is cause arguments here

they're really exaggerating everything. i'm glad they're all upset.
