Rose is the most obvious one. She starts out being shown as flawless, but as time goes on, we see that even she makes mistakes, and a lot of them are now being used to drive the story. Steven, on the other hand, started off as being painted as an incompetent little fatass who could never live up to Rose, but as the series progressed, more of his virtues are made evident and as Bismuth said, he could be better than Rose. Steven accepts his emotions and he's a better person for it. Yellow Diamond wants to destroy a planet because it makes her feel bad. Steven's arc is about him growing up, and Peridot has only become more infantile since her redemption. Bismuth is quick to jump to violence as the answer to everything, and doesn't believe in the redemption of the upper crusts. Steven wants to empathize with his enemies, and tries to redeem every villain he comes across, even when it seems like a bad idea. Pearl is incapable of moving on from her "muh Rose" complex and her whole life revolves around Rose. Steven is a more rounded person who lives a normal, well-adjusted life, is friends with many people, and goes about his day-to-day life despite his trauma.
