The tie-in comic sold more than the event itself. There are more people who don't want gaps in their Amazing collection than there were people interested in the plot of the Clone Conspiracy.
I have the feeling people think the top 10 is all that matters. I think the top 50 should be way more important to analisis. That way you can see that Batman is not the only DC comic that sells, or that marvel wont cancel all their books.
So since Marvel and DC's unit shares are basically even, I guess this is the best look we're ever going to get at the impact of Marvel's comics costing somewhere between 20%-33% higher than DC's on average. It looks like that price differential spots them about a 7% lead on the retail share automatically.
