Was aang a biased father?

Was aang a biased father?

Yes, he loved his other children but Tenzin was literally his lifes mission.

No, just a shit one.

No his kids were just little shits who thought they were neglected because they weren't spoiled all the time, and Tenzin was just born with a stick up his ass.

I think he could never be a good father figure since his were stripped away at such an early age.

Sort of having his big kid personality never fully grow.

Yes. He neglected his other children as long as he knew they couldnt airbend and kept pumping Katara with semen to try and make an airbender. Then when he finally got one, he trained him exclusively and didn't even act as if he had other children. Adult Aang was probably worse of a father than Goku.

Those other kids had it good, though. They didn't have to be in this series.

probably

Fanfiction doesn't count, OP. Not even if it comes from the creators of the original series.

> daughter turns out to be a lesbian and travels the world never getting married
> older son becomes a "man of the sea"
> airbending kid owns an island

hmmmm

He was biased but he was totally justified in his bias.

not when Korra was gonna fix everything anyway

from what we hear he wasn't an amazing father

but then again, it can't be easy to be a good father when its your job to take care of the entire world as well and you literally can't help pressure being put on your kids to live up to the famous legacy of you and your wife

not to mention the accidental favoritism that comes from Tenzin being the only airbender, its not like Aang loved Tenzin more but Tenzin clearly warranted more of his time and attention since you know airbending is kind of a big deal

why did aang have to grow up looking so ugly with those fucking side burns?

>one child solely responsible for the continuation of your species.
>two child who are not.

what would you do?

luuuhl

>species
theyre all human user

So did she hook up with the Chief at the wedding or not.

Which would be fantastic.

TFW you realize there will never be another airbender with majority-air nomad genetics. They'll forever be a race of mutts and randoms.

With each new generation, barring incest, Aang's true descendants will become less and less air nomad by blood. Given enough time, their gene pool could become so muddied that the likelihood of future descendants inheriting airbending may become very low.

It is unknown if those who received airbending as a result of the Harmonic Convergence can pass it on to their kids or if it's just a one time deal. If they can't, airbending will likely effectively go extinct all over again. If they can, they can only stave this off for a time by breeding exclusively with each other.

What was done cannot be undone.

>Kids are all different colors

Explain this

Why was this show so filled with cougars

Anyone else find it funny Aang treated his brown kid the worst?

Sozin won.

Happens all the time with mixed race kids.

It seems to me that Aang seemed to "favor" Tenzin for two reasons.

1. Tenzin was the only child who was an Airbender. So, Aang only took him on those dangerous animal-riding vacations because they were things only Airbenders could handle if things got too rowdy, in terms of getting themselves to safety.

2. Out of his three children, Tenzin is the only heir to the entire Air Nomad culture. Aang was likely depressed as hell for years, with his first kid being a non-bender and the second being a Waterbender. Though he ust have loved both children very much, a part of him was deepely saddened that they were not Airbenders like himself, making him ecstatic when Tenzin started showing his abilities.
Avatar world Sup Forums?

>Sozin did nothing wrong
>Air Nomad genocide never happened

Really? You can't be serious, dude. Eveyone loves TLA, but it wasn't perfect. If the creator says something is canon, it's canon. Others may not agree, but that's how it is.

Gotta keep people watching somehow.

Toph had it worse
>First daughter becomes a cunt who won't speak to you
>Second daughter cost you your job and fucks off to form a hippie commune in some corner of the earth kingdom
>Just fuck off to live as a hermit because you are tired of all this shit
>Never find out who was the cunt that slipped a pill in your drink and got you pregnant twice

One white like Dad
One brown like Mom
One in between for both.

Unless you want to share another idea.

Are you complaining?

Mixed race kids are usually all a shade between both parents

Good thing bending is not genetic

>If the creator says something is canon, it's canon.
kek

mere windbaggery

>Unless you want to share another idea.

Katara slept around.

Sokka. he also died young.
admittedly headcanon, but it'd still be entertaining to find out he slept with every woman in town.

The thread wouldnt be complete without some of it.

>pre-modern setting
>three kids
Lazy.

>Aang is actually Suyin's father, which is why Opal had latent airbending
>It wasn't cheating, it was a threesome with Katara

do you know what a phenotype is or

>Explain this
Sokka

literally incorrect, not how genes work

Your logic is just absolutely impossible.

fpbp

>he also died young.
He was at least in his mid 70s when he died.

If something isn't present in a work, it isn't present. The author's musing don't change that.

>So did she hook up with the Chief at the wedding or not.
You mean Korra's dad or Lin?

Even if that is correct, the fact that most of this topic is directly referenced to in the show confirms that it's canon.

Legend of Korra is the sequel to Last Airbender. It's not great, but its predecessor wasn't the Sistine Chapel, either.

Zuko and Sokka were probably great dads. Admittedly we didn't see any of Sokka's kids (he definitely had at least one given that he was chief), but Zuko's turned alright.

Toph was destined to be a dysfunctional parent, Aang was decent but it's definitely true that he put immense pressure on Tenzin while inadvertently making the other two feel inadequate.

Bending genetics was the worst thing to come out of Korra. I miss when everyone just thought it was cause some had more talent than others at bending and that you just really needed to be talented and put in hard work to do it.

>(he definitely had at least one given that he was chief)
What does that have to do with it? If anything it shows that he didn't have children if Korra's dad ended up getting the SWT chief role.

I liked in Avatar how bending was RNG and most the bending characters lucked out while some suckers like Sokka didnt get any bending.

The whole bending genetics is just the creators of Korra making the bending style of Aang and Katara's spawn look logical.

Except Korra accidentally brought a bunch of new airbenders into existence. Sure they aren't genetically pure but they can pass down and expand airbending indefinitely now.

It can be passed down through heredity though. Which is part of why Amon's plan to rid the world of Airbending makes no sense. He himself got his bending genetics from a guy who had his bending taken away.

>Bending genetics was the worst thing to come out of Korra
That was something that always existed. Otherwise there would be transbenders outside of an elemental nation and the airbenders would have popped up again.

>Which is part of why Amon's plan to rid the world of Airbending makes no sense. He himself got his bending genetics from a guy who had his bending taken away.
Maybe he got his bending from his mom or more likely he was planning on killing the airbenders after taking away their bending.

He had Yakon's bloodbending abilities.

They made it seem like you needed to be more spiritual to bend so it made sense that a logical and grounded person like Sokka wouldn't be able to get it. No bending genetics used to fit in more lore wise too with people learning how to bend from animals and the moon lol and Toph being able to bend despite her parents not being benders.

Yakone taught that to him and Tarlokk through intense training.

But the ability to do it without the full moon was genetic, same with Explosion Man's eye. It required training, but it's not something any bender can do with elbow grease.

>Water is the element of change. The people of the Water Tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.

By your logic Sokka should have gained waterbending halfway through the series and someone as stubborn as Katara should have never been able to waterbend.

I just put that down more towards the cultures being extremely segregated and unique that none of them interacted too much to become a melting pot like Korra's Republic City so that people never learned how to bend multiple elements which is why things like combustion bending was so rare and that the only person spiritual enough to learn from all cultures was the avatar because they had the experience of all their past lives to help them. And the airbenders not popping up again would be because the genocide and their culture dying as well. It would've been more fun if new bending popped up because of the cultures mixing later but nope genetics.

well you're wrong

Yea because bending genetics is now canon because of Korra. I'm saying it would've been better if it didn't exist and was more vague and spiritual like in the first series.

Haven't they said enough times that the avatar's whole deal is that he/she is the only person that can master the 4 elements?

You aren't complaining about LoK contradicting ATLA, you are complaining about it contradicting your own baseless headcanons.

>the cultures being extremely segregated
Aang having friends from all over the world before the war contradicts that.

That's some clean burning kek, I tell you hwat.

Bending genetics was always canon. Otherwise Lee from Ba Sing Se could be a firebender if he had an ambitious and driven personality.

No, he loved his family, but because Tenzin was an airbender, he had to give him a lot of his attention. Also dude was an important figure, so combine his busy schedule and devoting his time with Tenzin, he didn't have much time for the others.

Exactly. Aang had to save the airbender race. Katara should have shat out at least 5 more.

Then how are there identical twins with a bender and non-bender?

How frusterated do you think aang was with the initial two duds

Bending is never stated to be genetic

>Otherwise there would be transbenders outside of an elemental nation
like the avatar? like the new airbenders? if anything, with LoK we're sure genetics doesn't say much about it. Hell... even in the Wan episodes it is shown how they originally got bending and it had nothing to do with genetics. At some point that might have been the plan for Bryke, but they sucked at showing it. In the end there are much more arguments against it.

Yes. He had two disappointments and one pedestal idol. Guess which one he liked looking at more.

It seems to work the same way as magic in HP, non-benders can have bending children and the other way around but it is far more likely for benders to have bending children.

And aside from Harmonic Convergence bullshit. You can't be a bender of "x" element without being or having a parent from the "x" nation.

th real question is why he stopped at 1 air bender

He didn't want Katara to get any fatter.

Aang never came off as a guy who would care about needing to have an airbender to restore the clan. Wonder what happened

Katara accidentally blew up his dick while using bloodbending to spice up their sex life.

That doesn't explain the identical non-bender/bender twins.

There probably is a genetic talent for it, but I reckon the backstory of learning from animals wouldn't make sense if it were all genetic.

He grew up.

He REALLY REALLY needed to restore the airbending clan.

It was either that or letting his culture die.

>He grew up.

Becoming a eugenics fiend and becoming obsessed with muh airbender bloodline is growing up?

>it died anyway

It's not even "muh airbender bloodline", it was an entire culture.

I always figured that the refugees at the temple would one day rediscover airbending, but since Korra made it purely genetic Aang had no choice but to breed his ass off.

Yes

>brown goddess watering down the superior airbending genes was a mistake

>superior airbending genes
>got genocided while the others didn't

Kek

There's enough projecting going on in these threads you could charge drive in admission

>I always figured that the refugees at the temple would one day rediscover airbending
Wouldn't more people than Katara rediscover waterbending at the SWT if that were the case?

Handsome jack?

We don't know if that's the case, seeing as the SWT was mostly elders and children. Maybe they one day would?

But it seemed implied that the air refugees would carry on the legacy. Even Aang said they acted just like airbenders.

Sup Forums gained a large influx of people who never attended school in the last years

RNG?

I'm fairly certain that the aptitude for the particular types of bending has always been a genetic trait...

...

It was a massive plot point in the show, in fact, it is literally in the name of the show: "Avatar: The Last Airbender"...

The Fire nation wipes out the Air Nomads in an attempt to stop the Avatar from reincarnating as an Airbender and judging by how people reacted to the topic of Airbenders, they succeeded...

If RNG ruled who recieved bending why would people treat Airbending as they do in the show?

He's ugly because his design was based on Mike DiMartino

there is a lot of headcanon in this thread

I personally like it.

I guess I just like when they add a new hairstyle or a beard to an adult design, it makes it look less lazy than just putting the head in an adult body.

And you're literally retarded.

Why is sokka all friendly with zuko here?

>But the pussy game was ridiculous

>tfw we never saw Sokka's kids

We did

Because it's canon

It happens.

What? She's supposed to be Zuko's daughter, isn't she? And she can't possibly be Sokka's daughter since she's a firebender.

I'm sorry, user. But a man can't impregnate a man.

Not with that attitude.
