So is it just me who likes Fellowship the best? Seems like everyone prefers TT or RotK.
>comfy Shire scenes
>best Gandalf
>Bilbo
>Galadriel
>Boromir
>Arwen vs the Nazgul
>Gandalf vs the Balrog
>highest concentration of memeworthy moments

Every one with a brain knows Fellowship is the best
it's the only one with all the main characters on the same screen at once, leading to plenty of comfy scenes like Boromir sparring with the hobbits and camping in Moria.
Who has fewer lines: Frodo in this or Neo in The Matrix?
Their roles seemed to mostly be standing around looking troubled and "cool" respectively
Fellowship is the only one that deserved an oscar. Return is good and TT is okay, but Fellowship is an actual great movie.
>it's the only one with ... Boromir
:(
...
maybe because he's never been outside the shire and he's being escorted by the fellowship/gandalf?
it's called character development
fellowship is more fantasy than the others
two towers and return are more human oriented
don't get me wrong, I love Rohan and Gondor, but there is something magical about Morita, Lothlorian, the Shire, Rivendell
As I got older I learned to appreciate Fellowship more. Definitely the best one.
Pure kino cinematic experience. Haven't seen anything like it since. Immersive and epic. 2 and 3 are just pandering to normies.
All 3 of them are pure kino. Ask me on any day what my favorite is and I would have a different answer for you the next desu.
What does Pat Morita have to do with lord of the rings?
it's the best one easily
people like the other ones because of the battle scenes
Everyone thinks fellowship is the best. Whatever made you think your the only oe who thinks this?
My sides!
FotR>>RotK>>>TT
>Ask me on any day what my favorite is and I would have a different answer for you the next
Because you're a filthy casual
Correct answer
>Not changing the Nazgul cloaks from black to white
>No hispanics
>No based chinks
Are you even trying to get a job in the diversity department? Watch Rogue One for your first research assignment.
Maximum comfy.
Is that Omar little as frodo?
forgot the "lords of Gondor" scene between Aragorn and Boromir in Galadriel's woods.

>comfy travelling scenes
>nice use of new zealand
>minimal CGI nonsense
>most plot, least fighting
It's incomparably the best
TT is definitely the least good out of the three and has the worst extended edition scenes except the Boromir one.
Everyone does, It's probably my favorite film of all time.
rewatched this last night. Blows me away how well they managed to make it. Truly epic filmmaking
>tfw it's almost time for the yearly re-watch of LOTR at Christmas time
Is there anything comfier?
...
That's a very interesting point. True.
...
top kino
recently watched all the theatrical versions for the first time, loved them. going to watch the extended versions soon, but going to ask anyway: do you think the extendeds are actually better?
Fellowship extended is definitely a must watch. Two Towers theatrical is better, but the extended has a nice scene with Boromir and Faramir. Return of the King is 50/50 imo, the extended almost gets too long in the end.
>going back to my hometown for christmas soon
>time for Lotr marathon with my boys as usual
Cant fucking wait
No literally I cant fucking wait, think I might just end it
the version with the kkk as the nazgul is better
literally no one prefers TT you clickbaiting fag
>mfw watched the fellowship twice last week after not watching it for 5 years
TT is best because
>introduced to all of the characters, plot is in full swing
>halfway through the series so don't have to worry about it ending
All of them are superior
nazgul need white cloaks
I like both the movie and the book the most for most of the reasons already mentioned. Also I didn't really like most of the scenes with Sam, Frodo and Gollum in the other two. Especially in the books because they took a while and I just wanted to know what was happening with the other characters.
>best soundtrack of the three
>best action scenes in moria and parth galen if you aren't a child who like's epic battles
>Sister and I do rewatches every Christmas
Can't wait
/thread
>if you aren't a child that likes epic battles
Whats wrong with epic battles?
The epic battle scenes in TT and ROTK were fantastic.
Why is the balrog scene CGI literally unaging?
It's still the most mind blowing use of cgi in cinema. imo
Fellowship is the best installment. It has more character driven scenes and relies less on blunt spectacle to carry the story forward which in turn means less heavy handed CGI that ages badly.
>also that sword deflection
youtube.com
Still makes me wet to this day.
battle in TT is a jumbled mess
It really is.
I still vividly remember seeing that scene for the first time at 9 years old and my jaw nearly hit the floor. Just an overload of fucking awesomeness. I looked over at my older brother who was in his 20s and he was nearly having the same reaction.
They were so confident with the build up before we see The Balrog too. They knew just how good it was going to look.
All LOTR films are 10/10 films
With the exception of RotK, which is 14/10. Best series ever kinoed.
Amazon is throwing their money away. No matter what they do, it will be tryhard garbage next to this.
Wrong.
Ah, there's the lotr thread. Nice.
>love the way they ride horses
Who are you quoting?
>We'll never get Fantasy Kino like this ever again
Fellowship is the best because the first movie of any trilogy is always the best. Prove me wrong you are incapable
phantom menace
and ANH actually
All Rings movies are the best.
I win.
sheeeeeeit I'd jizz in her
It's SwimSuitSuccubus
If hobbit feet are as tough as shoe leather, why didn't they make shoes out of hobbit feet?
Is it just me or do the TT and Return extended editions suck?
Can someone explain the lore behind Moria please?
Basically, is the idea that the dwarves dug too deep and woke the Balrog, which killed them all and then after that the orcs moved in? Are the orcs loyal to Sauron? Are they mining stuff themselves?
I have one problem with fellowship, but it's problem stems from accuracy to the source material.
They give nine companions of the fellowship to counter the nine nazgul.
And then what never happens? The fellowship vs the nazgul.
The nazgul don't even appear again until Two Towers.
Such a blue-balling from Tolkien there.
Otherwise, Fellowship is perfect.
fellowship is the best. the 2 towers is actually a weak movie, tried too hard to be poetic and there were at least 3 fake deaths, not to mention 7 slow-mos too many. everything with the ents prior the battle in isengard was awful.
It happens in near complete darkness, and he's shrouded by smoke, so it obscures details making it seem more real. It does look great though, especially for the year.
>cinegrid from the shitty bluray
SAD! many such cases!
The fellowship aren't meant to confront them directly. 4 of them are fucking hobbits, after all. And every single one of the Nine in one place would be an incredibly powerful threat anyways, the fellowship would probably get murdered.
It's just meant to represent the forces of good opposing evil.
Aragorn fights 4 at the same time tho .
>Neither in LOTR nor Hobbit movies Gandalf used lightning bolts
Missed opportunity.
Yeah, 4. Not 9.
Each individual Nazgul has a unique aura that grants a buff to other Nazgul. Attack damage, movement speed, health increase, etc.The one that gave an elemental damage reduction buff wasn't there so Aragorn took advantage of that to win.
Tolkien thought of everything, it's pretty neat.
Is that... Pelégolas?
Judging on pure musical theory the Return of the King has the best soundtrack. Howard Shore's leitmotifs were finally in full swing development in the third installment.
>not calling it Lord of the Bling
You are kiding, right? That sounds like some DnD bullshit.
I always though it was weird how Aragorn defeated 4 Nazgul while Gandalf the White was BTFO by just one (even if it was the stronger one).
>You are kiding, right?
I remember enjoying the other two more in theaters because of the battles when I was a kid but Fellowship is indisputably the best.
Dawn of the Dead.
>tfw already watched it twice again this year
I feel ifI watch again I'll ruin it for myself.
That joke is already taken by a tv show sketch.
Evil Dead 2, Terminator 2, Aliens.
why.jpg
I thought the implication was obvious, sauron was getting stronger all the time and witch kind got his power directly from sauron
witch king BTFO'ing gandalf like that shows how dire the situation is
But The Terminator is the best film, and it's also not a trilogy. And neither is the Alien series.
For me, this intro makes The two towers my favorite.
Fellowship extended is the best and the closest to the book. Then it´s normal Two Towers and finally extended ROTK.
Because of this thread I might spend Saturday watching the extended trilogy
It makes sense, now that you mentioned it...
It honestly tears me up how frustrated Boromir was as a character. He wanted his father to be better, and at the same time not disappoint him, and yet at the same time he knew he travelled with the true king. God this film is incredible.
What about Mad Max 2.
If you've watched it a bunch of times you should try it with either the directors commentary or the cast, the banter between the hobbits is great and peter fran and philippa is just as good
Fellowship Theatrical cut is the best of the three as far as a complete movie experience. It's just perfect.
I've wanted to read the actor who played Sam's book There and Back and again to see what people are talking about when they say he acts like he is the best thing in the whole movie.
>Boromir sparring with the Hobbits
ah fuck man, that was maximum comfy, not even the Shire was that comfy
I've watched the appendices and it seems like because Sean was the only one of the four main hobbits to be married with kids he didn't exactly fit in with them. The 2 who play merry and pippen act like children all the time playing games messing about while Sean was over inspecting the safety equipment and making sure they were doing their job right.
They roast him pretty good in the appendices even he admits to acting like an ass most of the time
For me, this outro makes The Towers my favorite
I remember watching some of the scenes where Elijah Wood and Merry and Pippen's actors were talking about the Return of the King video game and how the 3 of them played together on co-op so it struck me that the three of them were bros and Sean Astin was kind of a dick.
Fellowship is the best
Two towers the worst
This.
As a kid I loved TTT and ROTK for the action and bigger scope and FOTR was my least favourite. Now it's the one I watch the most purely for the comfy factor. It also has the Shire in it more than the others and as you get older realising the ABSOLUTE STATE of modern society you just yearn to go back to a simpler time like that.
>not lawd of da rangz
>an identical thread like this literally every day

Goddamnit Satan lurk more
