Another good one that isn't native Americans but is just as relevant because it's about native peoples assimilating in the way you'd expect, (i.e. poor and just shitty criminal element type stuff) would be Once Were Warriors. About a Maori family in Auckland. Also the best movie about any native people, imo.
Black Robe. Great movie.
Apocalypto if you've never seen it.

The New World
The Searchers
There not Indians ffs, I am always confused when Americans call them indians
Jeremiah Johnson
Oh cool. Actually looks kinda lively. Besides Apocalypto, movies about natives tend to be pretty droll. Will check it out.
I vaguely remember a fight between two Indians.
Good guy wins and lets the bad guy live, who subsequently gets a spear and throws it through the good guy when he has his back turned to him.
Anyone knows from what supposedly kino this is?
Wasn't that the end of the Spartacus show?
bone tomahawk was pretty cool

It is more about killing Indians than actual Indians. Good film that could never be made today.

Apocalypto.
48 Hours
Hank Williams First Nation
...
There probably is a bollywood version.
>didn't have any actual Mohicans in it.
There aren't any actual Mohicans, though. Cooper either didn't know much about the Native groups in the area and mixed different people up, or deliberately confused the issue, but as depicted, the group in the book/movie doesn't exist. The easiest assumption to make is that he was talking about Mohegan, because of the name and the character of Uncas (which was the name of the first Mohegan chief), but other than those details, pretty much nothing else about the connection fits. The Mahican are actually more in line with what the group in the book is supposed to be, especially being located in upstate New York. There are some other reasons for the confusion, but it's complicated and is an issue way older than the setting of the book.
I've actually worked with the Mohegan historic preservation office and most of them don't give a fuck. They all know they look pretty white now, and weren't offended about not being in the movie. The issues were more about the lack of consultation, and the weird cultural confusion they were worried the movie might encourage, especially because of the controversies with the Mohegan Sun at the time. I have no idea how the Mahican feel, or even if they're still around.
