To be fair, they've grown up a bit. They seem to have grown out of MLP for one thing. On top of that, the odd mixture of reddit and Sup Forums culture observed there seems to be reaching a state of equilibrium: it's evolved into it's own odd chimera of board culture that can be cancerous at times and kinda nice at others

I'll admit, KYM was my entry point into internet culture back in 2010 (which makes me a total newfag, I'm sure, despite the fact that this was now seven years ago). It's always been a weird place, especially how its ostensibly encyclopedic format managed to generate a subculture in its own right. A lot also has to do with how the landscape has changed since then; memes ain't what they used to be. But they've always been too small and idiosyncratic to be truly cancerous.

Kind of. He seems to be very strict about what makes good animation, and most of it is focused in SHADING.
I give him a pass because he puts his money where his mouth is and I actually enjoy his output, so he can sperg in whatever way he chooses if you ask me.
Mind you, I don't agree with this picture, and it was made probably in like 2008. I found it in an article criticizing his stance with totally agreeable points.
