Can we have a student animation/pilot thread? I've been wanting to be given recommendations as opposed to playing the youtube sidebar game. I'll post the couple I really like. Pic related.

This one is probably my favorite.
The classic, and the last really good one I have. Any takers?

I'll see what I can find. Here's one of my favorites. The voice acting is a little offputting at first but it's a great short.

I can't stand this one. I don't know why it makes me mad but it does. It just has no substance. Every line is weirdly offbeat, the way the characters act makes no sense, the story is nothing. No funny/amusing/shocking/interesting/etc twist at the end...Nothing.
I fucking love that second one.
I don't disagree with any of that. That last line is delivered with such confidence though, I can't hate it.
I don't likes to call things "Tumblr" but this is like if everything of bad with Tumblr was put together in an animated short film.
The fact that it is considered as good make me wants to kill myself.

This is a pretty old and obscure one, but I always found it really charming, especially since the characters were voiced by her actual family. She works at Cartoon Network now apparently, so that's neat.

How did she go from this to Steven Universe?
Charlie's not that good a voice actor
dunno, i didn't even notice the red hair guy was him too, that's impressive
That's one of the best ones
Don't be ashamed to tell the truth. It's very tumblr.
>Disconnect between character and BG art
Tumblr artist who only draws characters with no backgrounds suddenly has to draw them, and the result is shit.
>cashier is unprofessional
>only employee leaves store unattended
Tumblr doesn't have a job, naturally they wouldn't think about things that would get someone fired.
>"Surprise" gay ending
Tumblr.
What. Oh shit you're right. Is it pitch shifted? Sounds like it.
I'll shill some of my friends and my own short from our time at SVA. I really wish more of them would upload to YouTube since there's no Vimeo embedding on this site.

A classic one.
Is this just one person making it seem like a convo so they can post rule34 of their own character?
That was fast
Not samefagging, I just enjoy shitposting
I want to thank all you glorious bastards. You've given me so much to watch. I'm glad this thread didn't immediately die, I was worried.

Why do people move so slowly and its still somehow bad animation. Why don't they look like normal people. Why are the sound effects so messed up. Why is the story so pointless and boring did a girl make this?
Lol that shit at the end, why?
I love this shit!
Yooo, can anyone help me find a short? It was shared here a while back. Was about two quirky girls who worked in an obsolete video rental store. The nerdier girl kept trying to get the other to watch Doctor Who and somehow they actually traveled through time?
Any of you jokers remember that? I've tried google and YouTube but nothing is coming up.
Youtube recommended this to me a couple days ago and I watched it. Made me feel odd.
I fucking love it when cartoon creators end up getting their student/indie shorts picked up for series.

Did you ever meet Bob Camp? Did he throw shit at John K?
I'm genuinely curious, I dig stupid drama.
I've been trying to find this one again. Thanks!
She did some Pixar level thing. I think it was awesome.
Can a self-taught artist make it in animation? I haven't been to artschool, nor do I intend to as I'm a freshman in college now and have been steadily improving my abilities in terms of drawing. I imagine it's difficult enough after having gone to art school, what are the chances of success without it? Or is it all simply based on talent.
make cool shit and submit it to film festivals
I think that art school gives you a base level of tools, but the important thing is who you meet. Without those connections, I think it would be near impossible to break in. But that's just my .02.
this is executed well, it really sells me on the idea that being sucked into the gravity of random objects and floating in the air is a natural reaction to being awkward at a party.
