Lynched

that's all there is to this show, just forced memes

It had some good moments but its a a tim and eric tier random movie

Its for edgy hipsters that like artistic experimental shit like death grips

Because it was good.

It flipped everything on its head, which is what Lynch does, and it tied up the main plot while also leaving a pit of desair and terror.

The only way it could have been better was they somehow filmed Bowie before his death and had a surprise cameo.

Name a better show that's not The Wire or The Sopranos.

breaking bad

Well memed, have an upvote ;)

b-b-but it had cameos!

...

Because it was the most ambitious tv series in years and they didn't water it down to make it more commercially appealing. They let Lynch make it as weird and nonsensical as he wanted, ratings be damned. I wish more tv series were like this.

Because you forgot to take your nostalgia goggles off. A good portion of the show is literally just Lynch shitposting at the expense of coffee-and-piefags, whereas the true patrician takes Lynch's defecation in his stride and appreciates the dougie arc to be one of the greatest in television history

death grips a shit

It was the first new series in a decade that actually made me excited for bew episodes every week

>when you watched the return episode 1 for the first time and the intro song starts

that's when i knew that this show would be pure kino

what about you?

>Episode 8 was so amazing and nothing lived up to it
>Dougieshit for 16 episodes

The only good thing I got was a Naomi Watts sex scene.

When that fucked up version of American Woman plays

It was the end of episode 3 or 4 with the Chromatics at the Roadhouse singing while James is watching.

it's the end of Part 2
same for me

But it wasn't. I went in not expecting it to have the same feel as the other seasons. I went in expecting an 18 hours Lynch movie, and that's what I got.
Yes it had many flaws, But I will still buy the Blue-ray edition.

Because it wasn’t. It far exceeded my expectations of what it was going to be.

The scene with Dougie wandering around the casino shouting HELLOOO-oooo-OOOOOOOO made me laugh my ass off

This is worst than Lost. It really felt that they had no fucking idea of what they were doing with the plot. But beside the plot i enjoyed everything else.

The show had some hilarious scenes.

>”jane give two rides”
>the mitchum brothers treating dougie like a god after the insurance paid out
>Candie and her ditsiness
>Andy in general
>the fusco bros

I think all the people hating on this have never seen a Lynch movie or any arthouse movie for that matter. Plot is irrelevant, there are more important things to making a movie then the plot..

Vampire Diaries

...

When it comes to your last point you can say that about all of Lynch's stuff
Lynch loves BrBa though

It was better that I expected, to be honest. And the more I think about it, the more I like it. It was bold, refreshing, and entertaining. My only complain is that it left me wanting more.

It's not an all time classic like the original, but it's still very good. I'm glad they didn't try to just make more Twin Peaks in the old style, that would have ended up as nothing more than nostalgia bait with no soul to it. Instead we got something new, something we've never seen before. For that I am glad. The chances of it hitting on something a second time that would go down as one of TVs greatest were astronomically low. I'm fine with that, at least they tried.

as much as aspects of the story disappointed me I still enjoyed it immensely

I only watched the original and I have no urge to watch more TP after the last half of season 2.

But the last episode of season 2 is the most kino of them all.

I had no expectations and I enjoyed every minute of it, because I also didn't set out expecting a logical sequel to season 2.

Best tv show in years. The Pope and True Detective are the only recent ones that can compete.

>The Pope

Young Pope*. Also forgot the Leftovers.

> I have no urge to watch more TP after the last half of season 2.

I don't blame you.

It's clusterfuck of random and a terrible way to end a season which should've ended after Leland confessed.

the best 18 hours of television ever made

TYP is trash. By far the most overrated Sup Forumscore thing

Who's afraid? I liked the first two episodes, but after that it was absolute fucking dog shit. Just as bad as the worst parts of season 2, if not worse.

Shitty opinion.

Dougie was one of the best things about The Return.
Honestly, it was one of the best things ever to happen on television and I don't think we'll see anything of the same caliber for a long, long time.

Trips wasted on a shit opinion

I'm not, it was incredibly boring and nonsensical after the first 2 episodes. And I have no idea why lynch decided to have random hip and cool artists be such a focal point in every episode. I get it, you're like 80 years old and have incredible hair, it doesn't mean you can act like a 1st year art student faggot. Twin peaks got steadily worse after season 1 and I wasn't expecting much anyway desu.

sick b8, m8

100% truth

Genuinely not bait. I loved everything about The Return.

youtube.com/watch?v=-QPJoRWz8Sc

The only way to be disappointed by the return is to have gone in with expectations that it would be the exact same show.

I can tell from your reply length and manner that you're both cancerous general shitposters

Then you're genuinely retarded. Sorry.

I'm not the one who can't enjoy a piece of media because it's not easily understandable.

Go back to r/movies.

>Y-y-you just dind't g-get it.

Oh, I got it. It was fucking awful and you are awful for thinking it was good.

I'm sorry people enjoying something you didn't makes you angry. Enjoy the rest of your day, mate.

>it made no sense and was confusing as fuck so its good

Such an edgy retarded cunt

>Such an edgy retarded cunt

You're lack of self awareness is truly palpable kid. Just don't let your mum see you writing words like that or it will be curtains for you internet time.

Explain what this season was about and what happened, if you give me the typical “im too intelligent and youre too dumb to understand” generic comment i will laugh at you

I say that all the time, was clear within the first three new episodes that it's not going to redeem itself after that shit start.

not him but what would that accomplish?

it is a clearly ambitious and experimental show, so recounting, or maybe attempting to decipher, what happened completely misses the point.

GR8 B8 M8

It was genuinely one of the best things I've seen all year.

such an angry little autist

This.

The original series' was deconstructing soap operas of the era, so of course it couldn't return to that same atmosphere.

I remember some user noting this in the months leading up to the premier, and he said that Lynch will do the same with the modern gritty crime drama. i think he got 0 replies, but if if youre out there user nice work.

It's about trauma and how you can never escape it no matter how truly good your intentions are.

It's also about a lot of other things, but the beauty of great pieces of art like this is they have so many layers that you can keep getting new things from.

If you need all your entertainment to hand feed you everything so you don't have to think about it afterwards then maybe this show wasn't for you, man.

The Return is unironically the best thing to be put on tv since Sopranos

Well essentially it was about Dopplegangers coming out of the lodge to get up to mischief and a man who had been lost in this alternative reality for 25 years trying to re-obtain his identity once he finally escaped.
We see a twin peaks that has largely changed and become corrupted, its not idyllic and perfect anymore which I think suggests that the gateways to these places have been letting more nastiness through into our world than just occasional dopplegangers.
We learn about the origins of Bob and perhaps how we fractured the fabric of our own reality allowing these things to more easily get into our world. And by the end we learn what Judy means and that ultimately it is so powerful that even if you can use the tools of the lodge, (i.e. time travel, teleportation) Judy will still find a way to feed of garmonbosia. Judy will always win even if the one trying to outsmart her is pure in heart and very intelligent.

There's more to it than that obviously and to suggest it was still just Twin Peaks would be naive. The show was a mix and celebration of most of Lynch's work. It owes about as much to Lost Highway, Blue Velvet and hell even The Straight Story as it does the original TP run.

>i will laugh at you
how terrifying

It's not a deconstruction of a gritty crime drama its a deconstruction of lynch's favourite top 10 anime battles

Why do people get so upset when someone says that they liked this show?

/thread

Because some people simply can't handle the absolute LYNCHING they've just experienced and get upset when they encounter someone who can

>I think all the people hating on this have never seen a Lynch movie
Obviously you haven't. It's not like any of Lynch's 'major' films. His films are full of emotion - The Return was emotionally dull.
Next you'll pretend his films end inconclusively

To a large extent, the defences of the show are 'LYYYYNNCCHHEDD', which is tiresome and unhelpful. Telling someone that they are 2pleb4it is not a good way to foster discussion, especially in the newfag-rampant Sup Forums we inhabit today.

Why is everyone afraid to admit that this was a complete disappointment?

It has already been explained countless of times why people like this show, including in this thread. If people claim that they still don't know how someone can like this, then they're just being an asshole and deserve a shitty response.

>no music, shitty sound design
>1 note characterization
>main character is a magical retard
>retread of the Laura Palmer story which had already been wrapped in plastic 2 or 3 times
>Lynch's teeth given too much screen time
>long pointless scenes to slog through
>anime plot
>tepid indie music to end every episode
>NIN music video in the middle of an episode
>meta-shits taken at audience expense

yea it was shit

>>The Return was emotionally dull
>what is Dougie in the restaurant with the Mitchum brothers experiencing a moment of lucidity
>what is Sonny Jim on the playset with Tchaikovsky playing
>what is absurdly passionate love scene between Dougie and janey-E

>we got something new, something we've never seen before.

but it was strung together from cliches and older show elements

It's certainly been discussed many times, but if you visited /TPG/ the ratio of 'LYNCHED' responses to genuine discussion was huge.

However it's probably just people trolling us

Lynch can't make anything good unless it's shot in film with physical/ in camera effects. Fact.

Dougie was bad

>this was a complete disappointment?
Because it wasn't. It's one of the few reboots that felt like the creators actually wanted to continue the story, rather than some cash in revived for money and nostalgia.

>shitty sound design
You have absolutely atrocious taste

Oh you ignorant cunts.
Twin Peaks the Return was the most sophisticated storytelling that has ever graced the television screen. Watching it is like glimpsing a portrait from behind a ragged curtain. You can see colours, shapes, blurs of movement and occasionally full images, but the overall picture eludes you. There is so much going on under the surface, that people will be discussing the show in decades to come - at least as long as the original show and probably much longer

>only one major storyline is emotional
>an occasional scene also might be
Well done Lynch

>>only one major storyline is emotional
>>an occasional scene also might be
Isn't that how Sup Forums shows are supposed to work

Dougie was the emotional core of the show, that was the point. It shows the contrast between the pure spirit of coop and moral/spiritual degredation going on in twin peaks over the last 25 years.

Also he gave only a few examples, not even touching on Bobby's arc, Norma and Ed, Nadine and Jacoby, and the adorably infirm duo of Gordon and Abert

I've watched up to 8 and I have to say I just don't see any reason to continue, it's literally just been 5 hours of a retard standing around doing nothing and a succession of screaming, nagging wives. I'd never have watched the old series if it was like that and neither would anyone else.
Twin Peaks was
>surreal
>spooky
>frightening
>gripping and intriguing
>lush and beautifully filmed
>beautifully scored
>comfy (fuck off, it was)
The Return has retained the surreality and nothing else, there's no reason why it should even have been called Twin Peaks as it has almost nothing to do with the town. A big deal was made by Lynch of all the returning actors and none of them have any screentime, 8 episodes in and a couple have maybe had a line each. Andy is a literal brain-damaged retard, Lucy is a cartoon character, I haven't got anything good to say about it.

>Death Grips
>artistic

N-no, it was g-good.

It had three layers.
>commentary on sexual abuse and how those who turn a blind eye to it are as bad as the abusers
>commentary about where entertainment is derived, i.e: what makes a show interesting? (The fireman/ Judy being prime entities that move the plot forwards despite doing it in opposite ways)
>commentary on nostalgia and what Twin Peaks means to Frost and Lynch, vs what it means to the average brainlet viewer e.g: OP

If you don't like Part 8, you'll hate the rest.

What did you think about the movie, by the way?

Loved the return but that sequence is so out of place that it makes my head hurt
Maybe that was the point of it...

It was much more enjoyable when you're watching it. Considerably less so in hind-sight.

Final episode was also total trash.

I don't wanna be "that" guy but it was almost certainly intentionally hokey and stupid, it pokes fun at everyone who was anticipating a dramatic final showdown between coop and dopplecoop and a digestible resolution, when really neither character had anything to do with the climax of the episode– they were just the pawns of much greater forces at work.

Also it makes a lot more sense when taken with cooper's overlaid face claiming that we live inside a dream

all the fags complaining just wanted the old show back
i'm glad you all got lynched

it was 15 hours filler leading up to this
youtube.com/watch?v=6qa3wPzNjIw

and it was worth every minute

anything that filters out this many plebs is pure cinematic gold
the original audience for twin peaks had a dangerously high normie content, this is why the second season was such dogshit in an attempt to appeal to them. anything that antagonizes that audiences up to and including chemical sterilization is art I can believe in

>100%
>not 56%

>mfw part 8 is probably my least favorite episode but I love the series as a whole
I'M GLOWING BRIGHT OBSIDIAN

Why does lynch feel the need to fuck around with everyone? What's wrong with just making a damn story?
