Hey, you guys remember that children's film "The Incredibles" where
>superhero saves a man from attempted suicide, only to be sued because the man didn't want to be saved
>superheroes have to go into hiding after falling out of the public's good graces
>former fanboy, shunned by his personal hero, becomes a villain who creates advanced technology with the goal of making heroes irrelevant
>tests said tech by luring heroes to his private island and murdering them
>family of supers each has to deal with their place in the world and what they should be doing with their powers
>protag, after believing his family has been killed, grabs a woman in a fit of blind rage and threatens to snap her in half
>villain urges him to do it
>henchmen fire automatic weapons at literal children
>villain ultimately dies by being sucked into a jet turbine (while attempting to kidnap an infant)

How is it that Pixar managed to create a movie with more emotional depth and complexity than anything DC or Marvel is shitting out nowadays? How does this children's movie tackle these dark and serious topics while still inspiring hope and maintaining the core values of honor, duty and family?

Jesus Christ, hacks like Snyder, Whedon, Feige, etc. need to TAKE FUCKING NOTES

Great movie

judging from the thread yesterday the sequel will be nothing like this

disney is aware of how randian the original came off as and test audiences barring, are working to fit the new film in with the rest of the disney properties for better synergy in the modern times

expect more quips and less themes

It was a different time

Yes, OP. I too remember when superhero movies weren't being made for literal retards.

This glorious motherfucker made it, that’s how

it was actually a different time?

there was a character named GAYserbeam. as in "laserbeam? more like GAYserbeam!" yes i know what the intention was but jesus christ what a bad name.

>movie about a white family with superpowers
ummm how bout you take this nazi propaganda back to Sup Forums?

I think so actually

>haleyjoelosmet.jpeg

The was the first movie I remember seeing in the theater.

you may be right but the first will always be there

>Randian
Go back to /lit/, the only board on this website that actually likes Ayn Rand and her drivel.

The Incredibles is hands down the best Pixar movie. GOAT score, voice acting, animation style
>ABORT! ABORT! THERE ARE CHILDREN ON BOARD
Always makes me feel. Cautiously optimistic about the sequel

Nice digits. Awful post.

>check'd

The superheroes having silly names was a part of the joke, retard

You're the gayest faggot I remember sucking on my peater.

If not for Tomorrowland he would have a perfect filmography.

Trying too hard here, dial it back

a gay joke in a children's movie? wrong

Bob's best friend was black though, very progressive. And even the women can kick butt!!

Are you serious or is this some forced meme I missed? Its gazerbeam, because he shoots it from his eyes, gaze

i said i get it faggot. that's what the joke was supposed to be. but in doing that, they made his name sound like GAYserbeam.

Brad’s /ourguy/, and i trust he’s done what he wants with Incredibles 2 instead of getting cucked by Disney

Soon

...

He had a laser gaze you fat fuck

sweetie that is called tokenism and it is demeaning and marginalizes women and people of color but i bet youre the type of person who thinks they arent racist because they have black friends so back to Sup Forums with you!

ok :^)

i said i get the intention you unbelievable retard. i anticipated you being a retard and you still couldn't figure it out.

what dont you like about ayn rand, user?

t. nazi

Hero stuck on an island with family no way to get to them unless they magically get a method of transport
>let me call in a favor from an old pal xdddd
>le deus ex shitty writing

Don't let obvious glaring problems distract you from nostalgically reminiscing over a children's film you saw as a child

>Look up Brad Bird
>literally made like five things in his entire life

>liking Bad Turd

>look up user
>nothing to look up because he's accomplished nothing

But only idiots think it's Randian.
Bob's arc is all about how he doesn't need to be completely self-reliant and can lean on his family as they lean on him, Dash doesn't need recognition of his superpowers anymore, and the villain is a self made billionaire who doesn't care about anyone else which is his downfall.
Also Bob cares greatly about helping others even when it interferes with the profits of his company.
There's nothing Randian about it at all.
That's such a dumb meme.

And they're all kin-oh, fuck I forgot about tomorrowland.

They establish way earlier in the film she was a pilot and being a former SUPER HERO has connections. Its not a huge leap.

thats not deus ex machina at all, you butt.
though it is strange that elastigirl, who is now a mother of three, has her pilot's license.

>getting bent out of shape over a character flying a plane
If I pull that mask off, will you die?

i didn't mean to say it IS strictly randian, but as you say, the meme is out there

the film is mostly finished and brad has less control over the story this time around

You're a pants-shitting retard.

That's not a fair comparison, I've made a number of presentations, short films, and a music video back in High School

cause it was original take on superheroes
dc or marvel don't have the luxury of doing something even remotely experimental or run free with the characters or make create new ones to fit their story and needs
and the movies are aimed towards lowest common denominator to make as much money as possible

uncalled for desu
i think our little talk must be over, goodbye

The Supers worked for the government. Through her years as Elastigirl it isn't too far to assume she saved some important people or did some favors for some government officials. Syndrome even asks why there's a government plane requesting to land on his island.
Although I will say her having a pilot's license is kind of out there.

This is the funniest character pixar has ever come up with

>racist stereotype
>funny

>tfw he turned down Episode VII to make Tomorrowland
>tfw we got JJshit instead

FUCK

Is Tomorrowland really that bad? I always kind of wanted to see it. I get the sense it isn't but it gets shit on because there was so much hype at the time for it to be amazing and it was just okay.

>garbage man

ITT: distractingly-bad relationship writing that blemishes an otherwise good show

He did? Pfft haha. I guess he didn't want to sacrifice creative freedom.

She wants him so bad, how long until she snaps and goes on a murderous and suicidal rampage?

>How is it that Pixar managed to create a movie with more emotional depth and complexity than anything DC or Marvel is shitting out nowadays?

Because they cared more about an interesting story than leaving every single possible avenue open for sequels and franchises

How is that related to this thread? Bob and Ellen's relationship in The Incredibles was fucking kino-tier realistic

I'm a fucking idiot and didn't upload this as a separate thread. Oh well.

Stereotype of what? Mixed-race fashion auteurs?

We've all been there

>big glasses
>bangs
>slanty eyes
>thick accent
asian stereotype that is literally almost as bad as mickey rooney in breakfast at tiffanys

Bad bait

holyshit_we_got_a_badass_here.jpg.exe

No, I still maintain that Batman v Superman is the best superhero movie ever made.

But Incredibles was really neat and another one of the few genuinely good movies in the genre. So few actually engage with its inherent themes in a meaningful way.

...

Remember the scene where Mr Incredible uses the CORPSE OF HIS FRIEND to fool a drone into thinking he's a corpse?

Either memeing or absolute turbopleb. BvS has no thematic significance whatsoever

Other side of the same shekel as marxism. Taking the same destructive individualism but preaching it to the top of the economic bell curve as opposed to the bottom.

btfo

>marxism
>individualist
user...

Stop with the children's movie crap, they months intentionally writing this for both kids and adults.

>I used to design for GODS
I remember almost all of her lines by heart.

It was a different time

>implying the root of evil in capitalism and marxism isn't materialism and commodification of the human spirit

Yes, that's precisely what it is. It wants a society with no ties between people, no ethnic or cultural distinctions. No intergenerational ties, no genetic stakes in the future. It's a collection of unrelated individuals connected by their common stake in economic policy. And it allows close knit nepotistic ethnic in-groups to dominate. Just like idealized libertarianism.

You've got a sham political spectrum based on one minor part of the complexity of running a state but you don't even realize it.

>his friends dont have a private jet

sucks to be you pal

That's what I'm saying, without resorting to the use of religious arguments to back up my claims.

Both marxism and lolbergism are individualist ideologies because to them, the individual is the unit of society and the individual's immediate economic interest is the only matter of concern. Contrast with collectivist ideologies like most types of religious paleoconservativism (pre-secular humanism) or fascism/national socialism. These treat the whole group and its survival as the primary goal, and the basic unit is the family - individuals with a stake in the future.

That guy:
>A number of presentations, short films, and a music video
Youthful experimentation. Inspired by music. An understanding for the role of commerce and clear communication in artwork. Your favourite directors' youthful output is likely similar.
You:
>reddit memes
I see.

I'm still geeking out about it

>geeking out
go back to neopets, holy shit

Great world building with a garbage ending, i.e. Lindelof curse

could you explain the second half for plebes like me, are you saying that libertarianism props itself up to be the opposite of marxism while actually being no less different? Is the whole have/have-not idea not a founding principle of marxism, and if it is can it be found in libertarian ideology?

t.literal idiot

delete this philistine image

>look up James Joyce
>only wrote four books
>and a book of poetry or something lol

I'm more into quantity over quality, personally.

>memeing about james joyce anywhere but /lit
>on /tv of all places
good luck subsisting off your minimal (You)'s
if you're being sincere then stephen king has a ton of books you can read, they're pretty easy to get into and many of them have film adaptations.

>shits on rand
>posts tumblr weeb shit

great post friend

>The Randfags also like Tolkien
AHAHAHAHA, this shit writes itself. "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

best cosplayer did a thing about the girl with the powers etc. here

Did you even watch what this thread's about?

How can DC and Marvel villains compete?

It's not that libertarianism is marxist or marxism is libertarian. It's that they both share essentially the same philosophical ancestry. They are both ideologies where the individual is the unit, the atom of society, and they structure society to cater to the individual's interest. The difference is that libertarianism appeals to those who think they can benefit from more freedom, while marxism to those who think they can benefit from enforced equality.

Something like national socialism is therefore a third position, because it doesn't fit on this spectrum at all. To a national socialist, an ethnic group (a race) is like an organism that individuals form part of. Fascism is similar, but the organism is the institution of the state, not the ethnic group. And to catholics it is the church. The interests of the group as a whole come first and foremost. This is the sort of thinking most historical societies from tribes to empires tended to assume, simply because a group that thinks this way defeats a collection of individuals.

why did she have to leave her stupid chin piercing in?

>neotrash thinks everyone who wants to discuss thing he likes is also neotrash and will tolerate neotrash lingo
See, this is exactly the kind of shit I'm talking about.

Which was better?
Bomb Voyage or Bomb Perignon?

HIS GAZE IS A LASER

Last time I was on /lit/ anyone that liked Rand was mocked

Jesus christ he really does look like syndrome

There was even more they planned in older scripts

a Hero named Gamma Jack was a Super Supremacist & thought they should be seen as the superior race, obviously cut because it's too much for a Disney movie, but i think have liked to see how they handled a former Super going rogue instead of Syndrome, would have been more like Watchmen
