Why do people talk in the theatre so much more during horror films than any other genre?

Why do people talk in the theatre so much more during horror films than any other genre?

to try to scare away the fear

In short, horror is not taken seriously. Not even by horror fans.

Because they're scared

((((((((people)))))))))

black people dont know the difference between a film on a screen and real life.
For everyone else it's not taking the genre serious.

kek

OH SHIT OH SHIT SON DON'T GO IN THERE MAN, THAT MOTHAFUCKA GON' KILL YO ASS
AWWWWWWWWWW SHITT I TOLD YOU NIGGA I FUCKIN TOLD YOU WHY YOU AINT BE LISTENIN

I’m coming back home from school in two weeks and there’s an 18 year old girl waiting for me to fuck her. She’s a hot, young legal teenage girl I can fuck literally on demand but I might have to delay because I know I’ll have such a hard time getting an erection because I’ve been fappping to so much BLACKED porn

Please help

because blacks lack self awareness and common decency

Watching a horror film with ghetto ass black people is a fantastic experience

I'm not even talking about talking to the screen. I mean people just riffing on the movie and making jokes out loud so everyone can hear them. I watched It Comes at Night and It in theatres recently, and there were so many insufferable people talking about how the movie sucks while it's playing, or yelling stupid jokes like "HAVE AN ORGY" when the kids in It are playing. In the last frame of it comes at night, instead of taking a second to let the movie properly finish, the people behind me just yelled out "WHAT?? THAT WAS SO BAD". It completely ruins immersion

Because horror is a shit and boring genre that appeals only to the lowest movie watchers.

You people talk like it's all black people, and I've definitely heard a lot of black people loud in movies, but fat white people and asian teenagers are just as bad

It's the only way horror movies are fun. Otherwise you just remember it's not real and it's not scary. But if you talk at the movie you're engaged and the fear feels real.

>In short, horror is not taken seriously

Pretty much this. When your average popcorn mine slave goes to see a horror flick, their plan is to skim through their phone during anything that's not a silent build-up to a jump scare.

>Saw IT with wife and another couple
>By far the most people at any movie I've seen in years
>Full of spics, niggers, and shitty crackers, none of which can shut the fuck up

what? it ruins immersion. you suddenly remember you're watching a movie if someone says some stupidness

same reason we laugh to relieve tension

IT was completely packed when I watched it. So many people yelling stupid things and using their phones, I'm really sick of it. It was a wake up call for me to stop being a cuck and start calling people out on their bullshit the next time someones talking or using their phone

lawl and i bet you thought you were one of the virtuous whites? wrong, you and your gf are the shitty crackers also.

>It was a wake up call for me to stop being a cuck but instead of doing it in that moment, im going to do it next time, i promise guys, next time i wont be a cuck, but not this time, no, next time i promise.
ftfy

that's literally what i said, you didn't fix anything

laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwllllllllllllllllllll

they aren't really movies

People tend to talk more when they're nervous/scared as a coping mechanism. Also, horror movies generally aren't taken all that seriously.

what? i legitimately don't understand your point

Why should they be taken any less seriously than other movies? They can provoke some strong emotions if don't right, there are so many amazing horror films.

no one is surprised you are dumb as fuck

I talk during all movies. Other peoples fault for sitting near me. I usually am away from people and what do they do? Sit in front of me, depraving me of foot rest comfort. Really, they're the assholes. Also, no one has ever complained to me or employees. Never been kicked out. Gotten looks, but that's it. People are pussies.

Poor user still doesn't understand that for normal people movies are a social experience. The guy didn't go there to watch the movie, he's not even there to watch a movie. He's there precisely to make dumb jokes and have some laughs with his pals/girls/whatever. That's what no singles policy really is about.

Is this really a thing? I live in California and the only noise I've ever heard in a theater is people laughing at Marvel quips.

I live in California and the only thing I see when I go to the movies are so many empty seats

Ive been seeing movies at the theaters for 25 years and Ive never once in my entire movie watching history ever been in a movie theater where it is visually or audibly distracting. Not once even as a teen going with tons of girls and friends was it ever like that. People talk but its always whispers and as you said when something "funny" happens people will chuckle but thats been the jist of it.

Ive also never once been in an audience where people have clapped after a movie. Living in a white area must help I guess.

Why do people get so autistic about talking in movie theaters? If you want to watch in complete silence watch it at home.

>or yelling stupid jokes like "HAVE AN ORGY"

lowest intelligence demo besides capeshit and michael bay crap

lawl okay Sup Forums user. your like a fat person giving health advice

this Tbh

Blacks being loud and obnoxious is not endemic to the movie theater. It's the same in restaurants or any other place were common etiquette is to be employed.
Common decency and manners are part of Caucasian culture coming out of old England.
We take it for granted that different races hold the same values even though they enjoy the benefits.

okay so you're a troll who thinks he's funny. go back to Sup Forums

No singles policy is a meme, it isn't a thing in most places. Movies can be enjoyed with friends, but they are not meant to be an inherently social experience, people want to hear the movie and be immersed in it, not hear someone's unfunny tom servo impression

Talking or being disruptive in the cinema is extremely rude and thoughtless to other patrons and you know it.
Stop acting like a dumb nigger

found the socially needy faggot. keep unironically talking about needs

maybe some of them, but i think people talk the most in the more clever horror films

This tbqh

I can't be the only one who's most disruptive theatre experiences have been due to elderly white women right?

It doesn't help that on top of the talking they go to the bathroom approximately 4 times during the course of the movie and each time they leave they slowly shuffle to the exits in the most noisy way possible similar to a steam train starting up.

Why the fuck do old people go to movies so much?

People don't go to horror movies to watch horror movies, they go to watch their friends react to jump scares. The Paranormal Activity marketing push was brilliant because it showed hardly anything about the movie, and instead focused on showing the reactions of people in the audience. So people go in to play their part and overreact to something they're not paying attention to because the movies are fucking boring and when the loud noise happens they spaz out saying "Oh my gawd that was so scarayyyy XD" hoping to get a rise out of their friends and forget the movie exists the second they step out of the theater.

Because the horror movies portraying violence and cruelty attract low, insensitive types

This is true. I didn't get -into- movies until I started going alone.

This. But you gotta admit, when it comes to cheesy horror movies, jokes and laughing can be enjoyable

>They can provoke some strong emotions if don't right, there are so many amazing horror films.
True, but the horror genre is so chock full of schlock. There's so many dumb "self-aware" slasher films out there where it's all about over-the-top gore followed by the killer making a dumb pun. That's not to say that those kind of movies are bad, I certainly enjoy them, but they aren't movies that you can take seriously because they don't even take themselves seriously.

there's a big difference between screaming of fear and talking like a dick

Yes, I agree with you, but people still seem to not be able to shut up during more well-made horror movies, like recently The Witch, It Comes at Night, and Cabin in the Woods

Those people are narcissists

I tell people to shut the fuck up all the time in movies. Got a problem? I'll fuckin head butt ya.

No ones scared user, it's about using the movies as a pretense for getting unusual/out of the ordinary emotional reactions out of your friends. Talking a lot just demonstrates that they're not there to get immersed in something.

Lol, i wish there was someone like you in every theater

the horror genre has perhaps the largest number of incompetent hacks who think they have what it takes to make a decent movie
also the people who watch these movies usually have really low standards. You can't really take a genre seriously when garbage like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween are held up as classics
then there's the league of "le it's so bad it's guuud xDDDD" retards who say shit like "OMG that movie is so shit, I love it xDDD", they should be gassed

real talk. the reason for all the half ass horror movies are because of the casting couch. it was all a front to fuck some hot chicks.

What about decent horror movies like the grudge or the ring

they're a rarity, and even then their value is slowly eroded through mere association every time an inferior rip-off gets made
imagine if after Citizen Kane came out suddenly every drama was about reclusive rich weirdos?
Horror and comedy are probably the most difficult genres to get right and ironically they have the most hacks

I guess there are a lot of narcissists in my area

most people are, especially if they're uncivilized
