Especially after they heard about your clan and feelings for the game, yes that made its way into the deepest dark of EA subsidiary offices. They were emboldened by it, /swco/. They rallied their team to rise up and break down the only pay2win aspect left in their game. Poorfags, misers, the budget-minded, their wallets are free thanks to them. >but they didn't make it. >They got caught with low returns in the excitement, it was just like them not to hide it in the face of punishment. I just liked the design. 2bh I was never a fan of R2 until I saw TCW, and it's my second favourite mech. If we were picking between mechs and drods, K2 would be at the top. Hands down.

yeah same. Also all that harry potter porn out there. Its a weird idealized version of a real person and its just so off putting. I don't have the same feeling with a character like Miranda from Mass Effect though. Her face is based off of that actress but because shes a videogame character and not a movie/tv character its different.

>30 years between ROTJ and TFA >NuCanon has the Galactic Civil War end a year after Endor even though in the EU it didn't end until 14 years after Endor
fucking WHY first off that's a stupid decision from a storytelling standpoint because now they've eliminated the possibility of any stories regarding the remnants of the Empire post-Endor that don't take place within the year
jesus christ, by the point TFA takes place, the old EU would have already finished the Yuuzhan Vong War. I really hope the new canon fills in the blanks for those 30 years with good stories but they really wrote themselves into a corner since nothing can happen on a big scale that won't contradict what's been established in TFA, and there's not much they can do with Luke/Han/Leia
why didn't they just rewrite the Thrawn trilogy to make more sense in the current canon. There's so much shit from the EU that they still would have been able to include had they not decided to end the war after a year
Benjamin Cook
The canon is meant to be different from the old EU.

Why the fuck do you want the GCW to drag on over a fucking decade after ROTJ?
The Battle of Endor was the catalyst to the Empire losing, dragging it on like that renders shit fucking useless.

Thomas Allen

Anthony Ramirez

I think his point is that TFA unnecessarily crimps the stories you can tell in between ROTJ and it. It can't, as he says, be anything really good or interesting, because Han, Luke, and Leia have to get where they are by the time TFA starts, and where they are isn't terribly interesting.
Juan Thompson
If Dooku were to have a novel (author doesn't matter), how would you want to see it connected to the canon, outside of the obvious Prequel connection? The catch: it has to connect to the new canon contributions that are ongoing now; it can't be standalone (which means Unknown Regions related)
You could say that about any gap in the franchise that isn't open-ended.
His point isn't wrong at all, it's a very common opinion on /swco/ that ROTJ->TFA is severely restricted in potential.
But pointing to the EU isn't really a good alternative. Dragging on the war for almost 2 decades, and fighting extra-galactic aliens is not exactly what I would call better.
Liam Gray
Thanks.
Dylan Edwards
what he said: there can only be stories about either original characters that can't be fleshed out too much without their absence in the sequel trilogy seem out of place, or about ones we don't see in TFA like Wedge and Lando. Speaking of which has Lando been mentioned at all in the NuCanon? Or has Lucasfilm said why he wasn't in TFA? I know Wedge wasn't because Dennis Lawson didn't want to be in it, but Billy Dee seemed game and they're having the character play a role in the Han Solo film. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I know Billy Dee Williams looks like shit but if Mark Hamill was able to unJUST himself the way he did I'm sure BDW could clean himself up a lil bit.
Brody Scott
Holy shit
>Thrawn will never watch over you in the medbay and worry
Christian James
All Hamill had to do was lose weight. Billy Dee can't lose decades of aging.
Jayden Bailey
well no, I wasn't saying that they should just follow the EU directly, but I brought it up as a comparison to show the difference in the amount of things that have happened in the 30 years since ROTJ in the EU and in the current canon
Wyatt Thomas
Current canon is only a few years old m8
We have three books on the first year after ROTJ alone, and while those aren't the best, theres also the fan-favorite Bloodline.
Sure the OT characters in particular are restrained by TFA, but theres still stories that can be told with them, or newer characters, or original characters.
The Galaxy doesn't have to be at war for good stories to show up, Bloodlines is proof of that.
David Collins
>Star Wars >there's no wars wooooooooow
Samuel Rivera
>Speaking of which has Lando been mentioned at all in the NuCanon? Or has Lucasfilm said why he wasn't in TFA? He's mentioned in Bloodline. They don't go into detail of what he's been up to but he apparently kept in touch with Han and Leia since he's one of the people sending Leia messages of support after her relation to Vader is publicly outed.
As for why he wasn't in TFA, apparently they did offer him a cameo but he couldn't do it because he wasn't feeling well at the time they were shooting. No idea how true that is, though.
Isaiah Edwards
it's bizarre to me that they wouldn't utilize him as a lead character in a story set after Jedi, especially since he was a major character in the OT and we don't know his fate, which would at least add some level of "will he make it out of this" that we wouldn't get from something involving Luke/Leia/Han

>mfw it just dawned on me that the possible final film in the main Star Wars saga is going to be written and directed by Colin Treverrow
fucking hell, I really hope it's not as bland and braindead as Jurassic World was
Easton Smith
I wonder if Disney's rethinking that at all. I mean, fuck, does Treverrow have any major films to his name besides JW? He seems ill prepared to handle something as important as the final movie of the ST. At least Johnson has a couple of major studio films under his belt.
Henry Sanchez
>it's not from the 80s so its bland
Luis Hill
Because it's a GALACTIC empire. It has millions of ships under it's reach and thousands of star systems.
I wouldn't mind a shorter campaign but one year is way too short. Five would be good. Maybe three or four. But one year and then an immediate de escalation is retarded and every novel showing imperial perspective portrays it as such. Shit lost stars has the imperial remnant attacking the republic IMMEDIATELY.
Isaac Sullivan
Compared to what it could have been, Jurassic World was a 10/10
Trevorrow salvaged a complete mess into a semi-decent film.
>does Treverrow have any major films to his name besides JW Safety Not Guaranteed
It was very well received by critics and won multiple awards

replace "Jurassic World" with literally any movie title and that argument still works. Any movie could be terrible, the fact that a movie isn't awful shouldn't automatically make it good
Joseph Nguyen
Except no stories anyone gives a fuck about are there. Lost stars is ok but it's feeding into nothing since all those characters got abandoned just like every other book protagonist.
Hudson Ortiz
Proud of it and my sweet little droidekas.
The CIS threw the game too in my book.
Juan Reed
>replace "Jurassic World" with literally any movie title and that argument still works. Not really
>Any movie could be terrible, No
>the fact that a movie isn't awful shouldn't automatically make it good Why not? Have you seen what Jurassic Park 4 would've been?
Jurassic World was not terrible. It's not great or as good as the first film but it's not bad. It was enjoyable enough and decent. I'd take it over what Jurassic Park 4 could've been any day
Connor Moore
>coming to Star Wars gen for good film opinions

Matthew Jones
>Friendly reminder that had the war dragged on the CIS would have eventually won
Like all the Nazis such as Manstein who claimed they could have won WW2 if not for Hitler. You don't get to fight your wars after you lost.
Kevin Cox
The thing about Jurassic World is that it's the ultimate example of "effects driven spectacle movie makes lots of money in countries that don't speak English."
The visuals and the effects and the setpieces matter a lot more if you want to make money in, say, China or Brazil or Nigeria. And Jurassic World has the best CGI creations you could possibly have. I mean, fucking dinosaurs. Everybody loves dinosaurs. Every single person on the planet loves dinosaurs and thinks they're cool as shit. So a movie that prominently features dinosaurs walking, stampeding, fighting, hunting, etc. is going to make serious bank, no matter how good, or bad, a movie it is.
So, basically, JW's success was more guaranteed than any other modern blockbuster's, and I don't think we can take from it a good idea of how Trevarrow will handle Episode 9.
Jacob Ramirez
also you can take from it that a guy who directed one well known movie doesnt have a fucking track record yet you dense cunts

Zachary Brooks
Yeah, I'm well aware of the dinosaur-human hybrid soldier shit they wanted to do, I even have a copy of that script somewhere on my computer, but just because he didn't make that movie doesn't make it good.
My main issues with Treverrow are his directing style (super basic with awful color grading) and how the characters were written (I walked out of the theater realizing I didn't even remember their names because of how forgettable they were)
None of those have to do with "what could have been", they have to do with what we got
Nicholas Carter
Why are you here?
Jack Thompson
What went wrong?
Austin Wood
but you know Rey and Finn's names why?
Dominic Wright
Rian Johnson has more optimism among the fans mostly because of his episodes of Breaking Bad, not because of Looper or his other movies (and that's not a criticism of them). Treverrow has more experience with blockbusters with big budgets, yet Johnson is expected to deliver a quality film while Treverrow has people worried
Daniel Davis
Why are there still RLM faggots here? Didn't they neck themselves after the RO debacle?
Grayson Hill
So TFA is /ourmovie/ then?

from who? critics? fanboys? 1/3 of the original Jurassic Park movies were considered classics, JW didn't have the fanbase or hype leading up to it that TFA did. I rarely see it talked about at all, while TFA is discussed daily
James Cooper
did you even read my post? TFA has much more shit thrown at it than JW and obviously the characters being "better" didn't stop it from being hated because SW fans don't give a shit about characters
William Morgan
I thought Looper was a big part of our optimism for Rian.
