I know two people who are schizophrenic, neither of whom I would be interested in swapping places with. There isn't a magic pill that will solve all your problems, and often they cause other debilitating problems for them. I think you'd be surprised how many choose, willfully or through the means of their own instability, refuse to take any medication.

Meds can only do so much. Schizophrenia actually can't be treated with meds most of the time. Meds can help with some mental illnesses, but there's not much that can be done for schizophrenics (like this stalker probably is) with current meds.

I have had experience with schizophrenic people (a friend of mine in high school had it), but personal experience shouldn't trump actual data. Sure schizophrenics are on average more violent than the general population, but not more violent than many other mental disorders.
