Best historical TV shows?

Best historical TV shows?

Spartacus was great.
Rome was rushed.
Vikings- Main characters are too unlikeable.

lol game of thrones duh

Peaky blinders is pure kino

There's a new series about the Crusades coming out I forget what it's called

Wolf Half was great, really wish the sequel actually get made.

>Spartacus was great.
What did he mean by this?
Spartacus is a shitty show with meme dialog, only fags who like the blatant 300 style rip off choreography and shirtless gay romance would rate it anywhere near Rome.

Anyways, I don't know about "best" but here are some good historical shows:
Deadwood (better than anything on that list, with Rome being a close 2nd)
Carnevale
Last Kingdom
Sharpe's Rifles
Horneblower (if you like a boring character with absolutely no flaws)
The Borgias (the Showtime one, the other one has a better Caesare, but most of the other characters are worse, especially Pope Alexander VI)
The Tudors
Versailles
Marco Pollo

forgot about that one. I wish it was longer.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms

Knightfall? looks potentially based. But I think it's history channel so aliens might show up.

>Likes Spartacus
>Doesn't like Rome

Wow, what a pleb. Does your mom know your a faggot?

I really enjoyed old timey house

>Spartacus was great.
>Rome was rushed.
What the fuck? You're kidding, right? Spartacus was borderline shit, and Rome was absolute kino despite having to end so soon.

was the second season of last kingdom any good?

It was alright. If you liked the first season, you'll like the second.

Thanks I did like it. I gave s02e01 a half assed attempt but couldn't get into it but the first season required me to binge a bit to get into it too.

Vikings should have ended with Ragnar's death. His son's are such dreadful actors.

>the virgin Rome fan
>the Chad Spartacus fan

>high fantasy garbage is historical

Lmao, are you female? Learn some history and show your tits bitch

Rome is great.

The show skipped all the major battle scenes for some reason. I wanted to see Pompey vs Caesar and Antony vs Octavian.

I'd go Rome for overall quality, but Spartacus has some great individual episodes and arcs.

Rome didn't have highs as high but also didn't have lows as low.

Rome was fantastic
Spartacus was action schlock garbage
You're a knucklehead who probably watches wrestling.

>for some reason.
Budget.

Same reason they shut it down.

I would have rathered they continue it given the state GoT has degenerated to but I get why they didn't continue. Still would have liked to see another 2 seasons at least, especially if they could make it into rise and fall anthologies of famous Roman figures or go back and forward in time.

Probably because they already spent a fuck ton of money and didn't have any for major battles

Varro's death episode was GOAT.

Words fall from your mouth like shit from ass

>Gay sex
>Chad

Plus pointless lesbian scenes and the random incest scene between Octavia and Octavian.

i could not watch spartacus after they changed the actor because the main actor died of cancer, this was just too sad.

Words fall from mouth like shit from ass.

>lorica hamata are fucking useless compared to half naked gladiator outfits
>season 3 final battle=romans using spears instead of pilla
>dual wielding in battles vs roman legions
>no scorpion, no balista, no pillum throwing
>THE julius caesar got rammed by a snivelling punk
GTFO

patrician taste my dude.

Spartacus is Rome for teenagers (with enough cock and balls to make the numales happy)...everyone knows this

The Boardwalk Empire

Mad Men

Historia Civilis > Spartacus > Baz Battles = Rome = Kings and Generals > I Claudius

This is an undisputed fact. This cannot be refuted

SHARPE

Is Rome actually good? I watched one episode of it and was very out off by the format. half the t ok me it felt like a drama, the other time it felt like a documentary. The historians commentary in particular was just immersion breaking.

>The historians commentary

it was a 2 minutess introduction for the uneducated burgers

No, any list that puts Spartacus over Rome was made by shit-eater.

It's decent but the Bong accents ruin it, hearing a Roman say "innit" is really off-putting.

>vikings
>main characters too unlikeable
>low test soi boi

I was cheering for the English. Viking savages invaded their land and started murdering and raping their people.

atlantis was shit, tried to watch it for a while but can't really recommend it

BASTARD

>I was cheering for the English. Viking savages invaded their land and started murdering and raping their people.
Just few centuries before Saxons genocided all britons and romans there.

>can't handle some buff shirtless dudes without automatically thinking about sex

Yeah nah you are the homo

>ROME WAS KINO
>SPARTACUS WAS KINO

Protip: the shows aren't even remotely comparable despite both being set in ancient Rome. Spartacus was basically just a trashy 80s b-movie made into a tv-show

same, i even made a thread about it!

If you like Vikings The Last Kingdom is pretty good.

You mean a few centuries after the Saxons.

destiny is all
