/WHO/ FOR THE /WHO/RES

Are you aware that Sup Forums includes a count of the number of posters in any given thread?
Last thread had 44 people
we do not have any issues with a small or shrinking userbase, fuck offerino grant

Reminder that Grant samefags his own ideas

I know I'm not alone in preferring when /who/ is smaller and cosier too, plenty of people say they prefer coming by in the offseason when it's comfier and easier to actually talk with people. Quantity is not inherently a good, or wanted, thing here. Notice how these posters keep ignoring the polls that overwhelmingly side against their bizarre points? And all these arguments are distractions just buzzing off the sides of the fact that /who/ is for /who/res. It's utterly insane this conversation even needs to be had. The /who/ wiki is for /who/, not for some nebulous concept of "new posters" that would be won over by a Discord or whatever else. "Doctor Who General" means /who/, not general shitposting about Doctor Who.

I'd not be surprised if a lot of this desire to "expand our influence" or whatever is precisely because these people thought they were in on a secret club, and now suddenly find they're not, so they're trying to expand the definition of what /who/ is so they still fit in

Speaking of foreign fandoms from last thread, what are non-English speaking fans of Doctor Who like in different countires? How organized are they? What was/is the availability of the show like in their language (sub or dub)?

I'd love to hear if any visit /who/.

Update on Gareth's condition: It's happened. The fat has finally fully absorbed Clayton and the two are finally becoming one in a disgusting mishmash of dying cells. Limbs are growing strange appendages. There's lumps of solid tissue dispersed seemingly randomly. Bones are exposed as the skin and fat that once housed them is becoming a singularity of hatred, fear, xenophobia and Pip & Jane Baker love.

Delete the wiki. It's compromised. We need to start fresh with new admins that are actually active. Save all the pages and let's rebuild it somewhere else.

strawpoll.me/14543366/r
You do not belong here, grant
go and make your own doctor who encyclopedia dramatica and share it with /r/galifrey
You have an incredibly rudimentary understanding of /who/ and its culture and you keep embarrassing yourself by revealing how little you understand us

/who/, i have a joke in a st 2.5 story that i don't know if its funny or if its dumb. Someone give me an opinion?

So our heros walk out of the Tardis into a large hall with a tremendous pipe organ running throughout the entire universe, and sitting at it is Omega, arms crossed staring at it and his imposing will being so powerful that it plays Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor on itself. All of the sudden he stands up, and his presence is so powerful it leaves a mirage of himself staring and concentrating on the keyboard playing itself. He walks up to the heroes, his gold helmet staring forward intensely, his red cape trailing behind heroically; and when he gets to the heroes he stands before them, looks down on them, and then in a complete nasal-y new zealand kiwi accent just goes "Hey How are you? How have you been? Good to see you!"

I don't understand the significance of the pipe organ or the song
it reads a bit too lolsorandumb for me

Yeah. As everyone keeps insisting in the "I Might Have to Go..." wiki thread and polls, they are more than welcome to go start their own wikis/blogs/forums/subreddit/whatever rather than trying to vainly stop /who/ being for /who/res.

Ask TheOncomingStorm!

The non /who/ admins have no ground to stand on, but it's such an irritatingly sticky situation with how the wiki is set up. Is waiting for DoctorWhoGeneral to come back a fool's game? Is it likely he swings by back around Christmas?

Go for it.

is he ok

There is exactly one FB group that I am a part of. They're currently planning to do a fan newsletter or something.

The sixth doctor plays it on an organ in attack of the cybermen. Omega is famously a bombastic over the top villain who screams everything intensely and is typically over-acted

what the fuck

>I don't understand the significance of the pipe organ or the song
They're super sinister and grandiose. Not that user, but I could totally see Omega playing it.

youtube.com/watch?v=ho9rZjlsyYY

I don't know much about who made it, but back in 2013 a friend of mine linked me to this spanish 50th anniversary fanfilm that's actually had quite a bit of work put into it (though be forewarned, it does start off with ten and rose)

youtube.com/watch?v=ltRxJtp38QE

Also, it features yet another actor other than William Hartnell to play one, it's that's somethin' that bugs ya

>Is waiting for DoctorWhoGeneral to come back a fool's game? Is it likely he swings by back around Christmas?
He materializes every so often.

Our salvation being actually "deleting the wiki" is hilarious but I do think it's gonna have to come to that.
Who should the new admins be? Neo, McGanon, Lymerence, catharticspurious, maybe Nate? Cats?

>Is waiting for DoctorWhoGeneral to come back a fool's game?
If he doesn't show up at christmas when a new episode airs and there's reason to remind him to show up (and the rando problem is still a thing) we might have to consider an alternative
Take 2018 as the deadline

t. Taika Watiti

I'm basically back.

>So basically, it's acceptable if it's Doctor Who? Because that was my main concern. Somebody deleted the Twelfth Doctor page's content. If that page wasn't safe, what was? It has since been filled back in, but it made me very concerned for a lot of content put in by a lot of people, including /who/res. I mean, one of the main complaints on one of this page wasn't for content that wasn't related to Doctor Who, but for content that was, such as Sarah Jane Adventures content.

How do we explain the distinction between writing articles about doctor who because they can be written with a /who/ tone of voice, and creating articles for every single fucking SJA character?

A Spanish fan film in 2013 wasn't able to get William Hartnell back as the first doctor? Yer kidding.

>I'm
Who?

Yeah that makes the most sense to me, good thinking.
Is there anyway to decouple the wiki needing so many admins at all, I find it kind of irritating a wiki for a Sup Forums general needs so much ranking and hierarchy. Don't forget FNA either.
The wiki is kind of an institution, the idea of splintering off, I recognise why it might come to that but I find it disappointing. I wonder what'd happen to the wiki wiki if we end up doing that. Will it be left to the wolves and swallowed up by Star Wars and Half Life articles with nary a mention of Doctor Who, let alone /who/? Gah, I just want the actual wiki under actual sanity and not administrated by non /who/res literally locking out actual /who/res from making the wiki about /who/.
Honestly I think all these side arguments just swallow people up into debating points with him as if his position has any merit. Which it doesn't. /who/ is for /who/res. He can't distract from that. The only way to seem reasonable is to keep jutting off into different arguments to seem concerned about the wiki's quality.

I'm not, unfortunately. It bugs me too, but apparently neither they nor moffat actually had the balls to dig ol billy up from his grave.

If Esther Drummond doesn't get a page, neither does the chick that came before Rani.

I've never watched the show, I just know there's a kid on it named Rani just to make /who/ mad.

The Beast Below is good

I said this earlier, but what the wiki needs is a complete ownership overhaul. DWG needs to add new bureaucrats so this doesn't happen again. Two of the admins haven't been on since the start of 2015.

Which is odd, considering how aggressively he's turning in it these days.

You say that like it's controversial.

>Is there anyway to decouple the wiki needing so many admins at all
Speaking as an admin, requiring signing up and allowing editors to voteban other editors would basically eliminate my position. On the other hand, wikia physically does not have that software.

Actually, exactly like his voice. I think it would be a funny juxtaposition against the presence of omega

Plus it is a deepest lore joke referencing the australian k-9 show

>non /who/res literally locking out actual /who/res from making the wiki about /who/.
Has this actually happened?
Some amount of hierarchy is necessary for a public platform like that because there needs to be a way to stop vandals.

When it comes to authority figures, I think the current batch of trips are actually pretty reasonable to give that power - they're all actively editing the wiki and invested in its wellbeing, so I don't see it as being a power trip thing
It's probably also worth giving adminship to a couple of anons who have had accounts on the wiki for a few years (meaning they've been around forever and aren't likely to leave) - just in case any future trip drama happens and there needs to be impartial parties

When it comes to actual decisions about the direction of the wiki, it should be obvious that it should be left to discussions and polls on /who/ wherever practical

Did that k9 Omega movie ever actually happen?

It's still in development as far as I'm aware
>google K9 timequake
>our wiki is the first result, above the actual wikipedia page
kek

above the official facebook page I mean
it doesn't have a real wikipedia page it looks like

>Has this actually happened?
...have you been around the past few weeks? Yes, it's why this whole drama started. It happened, then people looked into the wiki and noticed there were admins not even from /who/.

Want to be a part of /who/ secret santa? Here's how!

Step 1: Set up an amazon account

Step 2: If you don't want people to know your full name go to My Account > Personalization >Your public Profile to change your name to something less tracky.

Step 3: Make a public wish list of stuff you want
Also make sure you add an address or your not getting shit. Go to List Actions > Update List Profiles. Enable 3rd party to get things from amazon sellers(and save a nice gifter a few bucks) For added safety, choose items fulfilled by amazon to avoid possible sharing of your personal address!

Step 4: You post your list with everybody elses

Step 5:???

Step 6: Profit!

Don't worry if you can't gift back, that's not what this is about.
Would like everyone who participates to receive a gift, so if you see a ** next to someone's list, move onto the next one that hasn't received a gift.

Gift Givers, please reply with the list you
purchased for so it can be noted. Also change the URL to smile.amazon.com so a portion of the sale will be passed on to the charity of your choice!

Will add them to the copy pasta for the next thread.

Some fag
And now that I see someone else has gotten the 100 days in a row badge, I see now that I've been neglecting the wiki and need to give it at least 200 days of close monitoring.

I know cyberkrail isn't a /who/re, I'm asking if there have been cases where pages were locked on the non-/who/re versions (besides what FNA did and quickly changed after getting called out)

>Has this actually happened?
it's slightly exaggerated to say "non /who/res locking out /who/res".
the only ADMIN with zero /who/ connection whatsoever is CyberKrail, but this becomes a major problem because he's the only admin who's been remotely active for the past few months.
The secondary problem is there are multiple non-admin-level prolific editors who want to fill the wiki with shit and we can't stop them

Which is weird as fuck because how long does one really need to think about how a robot dog blows up a reality warping god?

>avenue who
w-what

The Dimmeh article was locked by Cyberkrail which started this whole mess.

It's puppets from the popular musical Avenue Q dressed up like 12 and 7.

Last time we had some kind of formal query regarding this /who/ had several french, brazillian, carribean, and russian /who/res. The brazillain guys were kinda interesting. One manufactured his own doctor who books, bound them and everything.

doctorwhogeneral.wikia.com/wiki/The_Great_2017_/who/_Wiki_Reclamation
Yes, and the fact it could happen at all is what made people notice the wiki is being ran really bizarrely. It's an insane state of affairs.
I agree on the point about anons. I agree with all your points actually.
Yeah, the first problem is what made people take a closer look and really notice the second problem too. They both fall under the "/who/ wiki not being ran as a /who/ wiki" umbrella.

Yes - but is avenue who an actual parody that exists, or a quick joke?

t. Broken mirrors

Thanks though, mate.

Quick joke, luckily

Thirteen should wear a leopard-skin pill-box hat

They've got their own Facebook page, I have no idea if they actually do anything other than take the puppets around places.

Thirteen should wear nothing at all

Please cool it with the sexism you chauvinist pig

Except a leopard-skin pill-box hat

Free the nipple

That's it, we've banned jokes, no more jokes, not on this general

Sexism is not a joke

>2017
>not being a sex-positive feminist

...

I wonder how big her dick is...

>nothing at all

Oh shit, is that going to be the arc of Series 11? We find out in episode 10 that Whittaker had a dick all along?

>tell me, bradley
>have I a good dick?

It's a joke, and not a even a sexist one at that. People are allowed to find other people attractive.

No more boobies, no more Adonis Belts, no more sexy

*glass breaks*

I'm editing your posts to remove anything I deem sexist

I have not a good dick. And I have not a bad dick. I don't have a long dick. I've definitely not a porn dick and no, It's not a plastic dick. You know what I have? I have a hard dick!

>and also to distract chads from /who/
What the fuck did he mean by this?

Is it some swipe at neo? wtf

>I apologize for that. It was not very mature of me.
How the fuck young do you have to be to actually care about some concept of maturity like that?

>I found this wiki quite by accident over Google searches. It seems that an easy solution is to just give everybody else another wiki so you can keep this one to your liking, and perhaps that other wiki larger and more flexible, so that it appears more on search results. Hopefully it will work and everybody will flock to that one and ignore this one.
Wew he's bitter

> And /who/res are just afraid that I won't ever count as a /who/re and won't make this wiki enough about Doctor Who.
We're not afraid, we KNOW you will never count as a /who/re. It doesn't happen automatically by being here, outsiders who don't fit get called out and leave all the time - just look at twinkanon, mrsinxist or mroverlord

He's acting like he's bargaining from a position of strength. The /who/ wiki is for /who/ and we've all told him to fuck off. That is what he needs to do.

SuperGrantZilla article WHEN

Yeah I'm done replying to that kid... It's getting too petty.

Well, we still technically haven't answered the question "why's this chad coming here?"

>This all seems to be the product of a long series of horrible misunderstandings on the part of others as well as my own.
No, it's a product of him backpedalling every time he gets BTFO. /who/ is for /who/res. He's seen the poll. It's time to leave.

Do you feel in charge?
>I've edited the wiki so much, it's like a small website--
And this gives you power over me?

> This all seems to be the product of a long series of horrible misunderstandings on the part of others as well as my own.
What misunderstandings did anyone else make? Does not noticing soon enough count as a misunderstanding?

It's his own fault he invested so much time and effort into a wiki he never understood.

>allow me to use the remaining month to gradually delete the pages I added and undo the edits I inserted, and move them to a new wiki dedicated to comedy and Doctor Who as a broader subject, so that I can preserve my work and also make a wiki that will distract anybody who wants Doctor Who shitposting away from this one.
No, just fuck off, you shouldn't have made those articles in the first place and you don't own the intellectual property, you posted them publicly on a wikia. We'll delete them, don't worry.

Hey Broken mirrors, ban SuperGrantZilla before he even has the chance to revert all his edits

I like how he tries to seem reasonable and like he's doing us a favour
>also make a wiki that will distract anybody who wants Doctor Who shitposting away from this one.
After he just said
>Hopefully it will work and everybody will flock to that one and ignore this one.

The wiki was a mistake, let's talk about Doctor who.

>Male romana
>dalek companion
You must pick one

I want a cute boy Romana and a grumpy dalek who can't exterminate anymore, and his evil computer got fucked up, so now he just tried to trick people into getting killed.

On a real level: are you here Grant? Are you listening or something? Good. Grant, I'm going to hit you with some truth: /who/ is hilarious. /who/ is also xenophobic as fuck; not usually in a racist way(pol leaks sometimes. Boardies get out), but in an identifiable people way. The thing about /who/ is that you don't just sign up to be a member of the community, you grow into it and identify yourself after a year or 2, if at all. I was on /who/ for 3 years before I bothered having any sort of a handle on anything and only did that because anon14 or pertwednesday is a shitty author name for a story. When you grow organically into this, you learn theres a natural rejection of new users even when anonymous because they stick out like a sore thumb, but you lurk and you poat and you get into the rhythm and eventually you understand how /who/ works and you can claim to be a part of the community. Then you make stuff worth contributing and then maybe people accept you, but lad you're taking a short cut.

And the thing is? /who/ doesnt actually see a value in itself for the wiki, they see the value in it being theirs. Right now you have watched and posted anonymously for a week and trust me, you still stick out like a sore thumb. And so what I need you to understand is that /who/ will be fine: we dont need to make a second wiki for regular people, we'll police it ourselves just fine. If you really want to be a part of this, honestly just delete your handle, leave your changes and keep lurking through the on season moff special, watch the change into comfy off season who, and then watch what real on season who is like. Keep posting anonymously. Trust me, the change is staggering and you'll understand /who/ enough to really contribute. If you really want it, thats how it's done.

Dalek companion.
>no more running scenes
>Leela-esque dynamic
>Charming and instantly merchandisable

>On part of others, as well as my own
I love that part. It implies that he is less responsible for the current state of the wiki than /who/ proper.

before i ever watched the show i saw my friends doctor who toys and i always assumed the dalek was a companion

Eighth doctor time war box agrees
