It deconstructs capeshit and pokes fun at a lot of the tropes that are almost universally present in it, why would you compare it when it's not even in the same genre.
And no, it wouldn't work remotely as well in live action. Shows like this live off of their special effects and over the top action, it would inevitably look trashy no matter how much money they pour in and no matter how good the direction and actors are.
