Bump i guess

Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated

A good show

You missed the noose to hang yourself with for posting Steven Cancerverse.

Oh shit, watched that one too.
It was great, i forgot about it.

I missed Sup Forums i really did

The Mysterious cities of Gold.

Missed you too user

Try Fangbone or Randy Cunningham

Holy shit Sup Forums has gotten to the point where we criticize the SU image before the MLP post.

What fucking happened?

Adventure Time?

There's probably some of what you're looking for in Adventure Time if that's your thing.

Oban Star Racers
Yu Yu Hakusho
Dragonball (the original is on Hulu, it's good shit)
Green Lantern The Animated Series
the DCAU

Young Justice. They plot out and explain everything.

Even the annoying catchphrase of one character gets an explanation.

Plus it's coming back so jump on that shit.

Similar thought: first season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, starting with the shorts is damned solid.

Was about to say

\Wander over Yonder, although the more plot based direction doesn't kick in until season 2

There's also Star vs the Forces of Evil

I always thought Adventure Time was a 70 season long series that was made purely of "lel so rendem xD" humor,
Not trying to be offensive, I was just uninformed. So is it worth a watch after all?

Will check them out. Thank you.

The Venture Bros
m.youtube.com/watch?v=66v6q7V26oM

It's very long so I'd put it off until after you watch the other better, shorter, stuff, like Oban and GL:TAS and Venture Brothers

Don't watch Adventure Time.
Do watch Star vs.

I wanted to check that out because its made by Lauren Faust, but I was sure it was a simple comedy without any real plot. Will gladly check that out as well.

I really liked the Star Vs art style but many people said its not worth watching. Maybe I'll just watch a few episodes and see if I decide to stick with it i guess.

Thanks again my good anons.

The early episodes are kind of shit. Watch Mewberty and Blood Moon Ball maybe?
Maybe St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Children, that was a good one.

Won't it spoil anything for me?
If not I'll do just that, thank you.

how many people who have NOT jacked off to porn of Star vs can honestly say it's actually an exceptional cartoon and not just marginally more interesting than shit like mighty magiswords or TTG whatever

If you like those you should watch from the beginning.
It's not exceptional but it IS entertaining. Teen Titans Go is hilarious sometimes. There was a crowbar joke that totally slayed me.

adventure time is good but don't watch for story because it never delivers on what it sets up

Mewberty, BMB, and St. Olga's won't really spoil anything for you. As a guy who enjoys the show, I'll admit it's a slow start, but progressively improves towards the end of the first season and into the second season.

>how many people who have NOT jacked off to porn of Star vs
none

There seems to be a general idea of what SVTFOE wants to be. TTG is just more of, "lets throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks as funny".

You could try Voltron or Trollhunters.

>MLP
>relevant
Their board is fading away. No one gives a single fuck about them.

OP here, just wanted to say that its bullshit, over.

can't we criticize both? they're both equally shitty.

>'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''lore-heavy'''''''''''''''''''''''''''
>My Little Pony
>Rick and Morty
>Steven Universe
I like all of these shows but their 'lore' is about as shallow as a puddle. Even Samurai Jack isn't really lore-heavy or story driven, it's episodic and multi-adaptive as fuck, and lets a billion different settings be used but focuses a fuck ton more on quantity over quality

apparently anything with a back story = deep-lore now.

[/spoiler]Bionicle

Well, given the modern trend for highly episodic, any bit of serialization will appear deep in comparison.

Avatar the Last Airbender
Wakfu
Spectacular Spider-man (little light on lore but very story/character-driven)

>Steven Universe
>not lore heavy
Steven Universe has survived and peaked almost entirely because of its lore. Saying it has no lore is stupid.

Besides, Gravity Falls should have been added there since their lore never got anywhere if we can even call it that. It was just monster of the week formula.

How come that cartoon doesn't appear very often. It looks pretty comfy.

maybe it's becaus it isn't really a west cartoon, is it

Dude, we're talking cartoons here. There are none with any deeper lore.
Of course they will look shallow when you compare them to books/movies/live action, but I don't thing you can name a cartoon with more of a lore than gravity falls or steven universe.

Because its a 100yo anime, nobody wants none of that.

Venture Brothers

The three listed here have more lore and story than either SU or Gravity Falls

>Besides, Gravity Falls should have been added there since their lore never got anywhere if we can even call it that. It was just monster of the week formula.

Clearly had a plot. It was a mix between that and MotW

Now we're talking

...

Rewatch Rick and Morty

>Anything i missed?

Killing yourself, actually

>What fucking happened?
MLP was 5 years ago, my man. some things we just have to let go

Dude, you NEED to watch Star vs. I know it looks like childish crap at first - I almost dropped it myself when I was first watching it. But stick around, I urge you. The lore emerges by the end of Season 1 and into Season 2, and overall the shows gets so progressively better then that it puts half the stuff listed in the OP to shame (and it's coming from someone who actually loves the stuff listed in the OP).

Star VS the Forces of Evil

Adventure Time

All DCAU shows

Young Justice

Spectacular Spider-Man

Voltron: Legendary Defender

Star VS is a show that really wants to grow with its lead character. It starts out wacky silly and shallow because that's the kind of person Star is at the beginning, but as she develops as a person the show gets more sophisticated while still remaining funny and trying to have a good time, just like she does.

Not quite the same approach as TTG's random bullshit.

Star is probably the cartoon that has improved the most in the shortest time. It wasn't bad at the start, but it felt very much like it would be an anything-for-a-joke, status-quo-is-god type of show.

But about halfway through season one everything clicks into place and it starts striving for something more. Than you get to the season one finale and you can't believe how far it's come.

Read Homestuck.

>Avatar
look I just browse occasionally but how the fuck does a thread like this not say avatar until 20+ posts in, fucking HELL

Adding DC animated universe, too

Over the garden wall nigger

Overrated.

Don't listen to this faggot.

Aside from interesting developments of the villains, the show hasn't improved all that much. The humor is lackluster, and most of the episodes are a bore to watch through.

Yeah these three are good

You're right about Adventure Time, but it has a LOT of lore.
Don't expect any actual plot though.

Commenting to also say Star Vs. is actually good.

Also if OP is still here definitely watch from the beginning. Try to get to at least the 8th full episode before deciding to keep watching or not, or skip around a bit-- first few episodes are different from what the show later becomes but still necessary for the overall story.

Also "many people" only said it was shit back in like 2015 when the first couple episodes were all we knew of. This year especially it seems to have a pretty positive reputation on Sup Forums.

At least MLP is about the daily life in a traditional fantasy kingdom and the occasional adventure. It's okay for kids. SU is about touchy-feely lesbians rebelling against a galactic empire of fascist lesbians for the right to be lesbians how they like it. And since that is the most interesting part, they never show it. Instead, we get to see an ambiguously gay standup comedy duo mend their relationship.

>they never show them being lesbians

What.

There are whole episodes about Ruby and Sapphire's relationship.

Whole episodes about Pearl crushing on Steven's mom.

And another one about her hitting on a hot girl.

Like, I don't know how much more explicit they have to be with the lesbianism on this show unless they start showing explicit strap-on penetration DO IT CN DO IT

>>they never show them being lesbians
You misunderstood me.
>SU is about touchy-feely lesbians rebelling...
>And since that is the most interesting part...
I meant that they never show them rebelling.

SU is shit.

Oh, okay, fair enough.

>SU

Here, enlighten yourself

I think SVTFOE went through an identity change or writing or something. It seems like the show had two completely different souls from the first few episodes to the end of the second season. I don't know what changed but something improved for the better.

He's right though. It's good, really good even. But the hype everyone gives it shoots it to be the greatest bit of animation in the 21st century. It was good, but not as good as everyone makes it seem.

Fuck off, our webcomic is terrible. Go read Worm by Wildbow, a Sup Forums style cape novel with actual fucking character arcs + creative powers JoJo style

There were two co-executive producers for the first half of the first season who left after that point. From there on the creator was the sole showrunner instead of sharing her position with two others who may have had different ideas for it.

In the second season, a pretty consistent writing team made up of her, two storyboarders who really got the show and pushed it to be more ambitious, and some other writers were involved with the outlines of every episode (sometimes it would rotate a bit but the first three were pretty much always involved). A bunch of different storyboarders were hired as well, with only 4 from the 17 or so involved with the first season sticking around.

There are some people who've always been involved but there was pretty much a massive overhaul/turnaround when you compare the credits of the early first-season episodes to any second-season episode.

>Fuck off, our webcomic is terrible.
Acts 1 through 5 are fine, and better at lore than most things ITT.

Oh no, I agree that Homestuck has a lot of good stuff about it. First four arcs are actually HILARIOUS and I WOULD recommend them. Caliborn is still the villain we deserve and one of the best things in that comic, however, after rereading it a lot of times in idfferent ways, I've come to the conclusion that its just not worth it. The payoff isn't there. Everything troll related can go right into the trash because it doesn't pay off. Only very few moments of Arc 6 actually have any semblance of good, despite Caliborn and GAME OVER being there.

Anyways, at least if not the OP, then maybe you, as a fellow homestuck reader (just like many other Worm readers are), I would highly suggest giving Worm an honest read if you want something that has a shit ton of lore and above average character arcs and world building. Truly the story Sup Forums deserves and I'm happy I got the recommendation from this board. Go give the homepage a read on the summary if you care enough to take this shilling to the heart, it deserves more attention.

>Lore heavy.
>SU

Literally 80% filler tho...

I disagree with you about the trolls (I think they pay off by the end of Act 5), but yeah, I see what you mean. As for Worm, I'm reading that as soon as I catch up with Unsong.

Everything about Dave was genius

Which only proves how inaccurate the term "filler" is.

animals of farthing wood

MLP hate has always been more autistic than MLP. Always.

Steven Universe is genuinely worse than MLP.

>Yu Yu Hakusho
>>lore-heavy
>>>story driven

fights are lore and story at the same time

There must always be a MLP.
We just have to hate on something. It's what keeps us striving

....Ooh my!

What if I hate on you? Fuck you bitch you can't tell me what to hate

Adventure Time does have lore and story but its in more bits and pieces than most of the shows you already watched. Still present though, and some of it is actually cool.

If you're able to stomach watching a pretty good wacky cartoon in between the deepest lore and story moments I'd say it's worth it. Or there are probably lists out there that remove the filler or some shit like that.

The fandom started on Sup Forums, faggot. Mindless MLP hate is actually anti-Sup Forums.

>Adventure Time does have [...] story
Not really, it has a few short arcs, but once they're over they don't really matter.

The era of anti-fandoms is awful and probably permanent and I wish we could go back.

This is true....incredibly, amazingly true.

Literally this.
It's funny because it's true XD

GR#15 fucked up everything. moot realized it too late.

>Everything about Dave was genius
Except when he suddenly turned gay because of Vriska. Remember when he was supposed to be a self-image of Hussie? I do.
Best lines in the comic though.
My point that I forgot to make is that, I don't recommend Homestuck anymore, now I only recommend Worm, and it has somehow attracted much more attention, as both are very hefty reads.
Worm is 1,7 million words long. Each and everyone being 100% worth it, something I really can't say about Homestuck, which is certainly a shame, because I think it deserves the attention, only I can't bare the thought of recommending something that isn't the best that I know.

Unsong is dope.
And the trolls are only good when they are either killing themselves, aka, offing characters, or interacting with the much better characters, the kids.

Oh yeah, that thing......is worm now considered a mandatory thing for capefags to read yet? It's popping up on /tg/.

Yeah I quit reading before that happened.

Ninjago

I've been beating that drum for years and I'm glad at least one other person agrees.

The very second that rule was enacted every single thing became subject to an idiotic hatedom trying to set it up as the new Thing We All Hate and Should Therefore Feel Justified in Preventing Discussion of.

Good taste

>Worm by Wildbow
Not mandatory yet, for I have yet to see a hatedom arise. Until someone hates it, it's not required reading level.
