I wouldn't mind giving this a chance; it has the laid back style of a slice of life web comic and I don't know how that translates to tv so we'll see. Also needs some waifus.

That was pretty sweet actually, but i dont see it as a tv show, more like a miniseries actually

I swear to God I've seen the main character somewhere before. Was there another short of this at some point? Maybe before CN picked it up? Because I KNOW I've seen him before, or a character extremely similar looking.

Anyways, I liked it. They could've gone the "lol, he's a monster and he's clumsy" route but no, he's just a teenager, who is also a monster. Feels really down to earth despite, y'know, monsters. Almost relatable, even.

I'm a sucker for faux-documentary bullshit.

The pilot isn't exactly new: it was actually in the same batch as Jammers, 12 Forever, and Riding with Burgess, but was only shown at film festivals until now

I really love how down-to-earth the tone is. It's got some comedy in there, but I really dig the documentary style and the realistic dialogue.

Oh boy another experimental cartoon with hipster main character and epik 90s references

>Hipster main character
The point is that he's an exceedingly normal teenager that happens to be a monster
>epik 90s references
It's a Gamera parody, and Gamera's from 1965, dude.

almost fell asleep to this

Wow, another calarts piece of shit. NEXT!

After all the craziness and horrible things in the news today, this delightful little short has really made my day.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

Really like this, good vibes

>noodle arms and beetle eyes

A quick glance the movements remind me of There She Is!

I like it, but i'm pretty sure most kids are going to find this boring, maybe if this was some kind of mini series aimed ad teens could work

I think this one's funnier than the pilot in the OP, and I like the animation a bit more. Also goes a little bit further with how humans react to monsters in the setting.

I think the concept has potential.

I knew this looked familiar.

Glad I could help

The dialogue needs some work. I'd be 100% behind it if only the main character talked like that to show he is an awkward introverted teen, but it seems unfitting for the side characters (especially the bully) to talk so slowly and have the exact same tone as everyone else. Have some tone changes in the voices, even the main character needs to have moments where he talks fast or loud in a burst of emotion.

I really like the art, I guess.

I wonder if he means that his ancestors really chased people around or if Godzilla was just an actor in this universe and all the movies are the monster equivalent of blaxplotation cinema.

Does Godzilla = Shaft?

I hated the monster's voice. It's nasally and monotone. Yeah, some kids do sound like that, but they're boring to listen to.

He looks a lot like this big fish fucker from a gobelins student short film.

>ywn date a teeny monster gal
It hurts

It's charming but I can't see it being a series.

I really like this and the documentary style tv show

Holy FUCK this is kino

it's good, but kids will hate it.

Looks like it's trying to ape Gumball's style while missing the mark why exactly the show is that show

Because it's not made for kids with ADHD?

>Dude finding out his mother is addicted to video games
That was cute

Besides the matte painting backgrounds I don't see how it's like Gumball at all. And that's not something unique to Gumball,

>Loli/shortstack mom
MUUH

Maybe because it isn't trying to be Gumball
And cartoons over a live action background isn't something Gumball invented

Reminded me of this
youtube.com/watch?v=0ArSPWlsjpo

That or they're historical re-enactments.
Monster Island was basically Imperial Japan or one of those big bad countries wrecking up shit. Then they chilled out.
But how long could they really go with that premise, especially with trying to make it something more in line with something they market at kids.
Like user said this would be a cute mini-series especially if they aimed more towards teenagers so they could play with the concept a bit more overtly.
I don't think so. Gumball didn't really invent the whole animated character on realistic backgrounds.

Reminds me of Surf's Up I could dig it as a full series.

>Guy talking about making prints
>Animate a dog with paw prints all over the floor
Hah.

I could it seeing it go like this
>Highschool
>College
>Adult with kids

>Ian Jones-Quartey

Just something about his voice rubs me the wrong way.

>gumball
>style

I really enjoy it. It's definitely my favorite from the group.

Do we have lore already?

I hope it doesn't get picked up, it looks a lot worse than teen titans go!

This.
The show is about being ''''''different''''' and how thats not bad. It isn't but fuck if I don't want another show shoving that message down my throat. I knew it was going to about that from the very beginning.
This would have been interesting if they didn't include the bit with the bully. But they did and because of that we know how the entire series will play out.

>Episode starts
>Slice of Life bullcarp
>Problem because MC is a monster
>Problem solved because 'I guess we're not so different after all.'

I like the tone, the design and the idea but this is going to be boring predictable trash.

>Too Good To Last:
The Show

Was cute, but it's about acceptance, so it'd it gets picked up it'll just be another thing for people to bitch about, like pic related.

i guet it
its steven universe all over again isnt it?

I thought of teenage gumball

ALL MY LIFE
Looks unique, which is good, but I strongly dislike the agenda.

Agenda?

user, outside of Japan monster americans get SHIT on everywhere that doesn't include New York or the secretive /tg/-tier fetish market.

How... how does this look like calarts style at all?

the VA makes it feel like he really is a teenager on a documentary

which really makes it a boring pilot

That's because they're dangerous.
Honestly, my kid goes to school with a monster attending and I worry everymorning if he'll come home safely.
They should have seperate schools.

Gotta watch out for that acceptance and understanding!

>High school marine biology class
Is that actually a thing?

My school had a combination marine biology/fish farming class an it owned. School had its own fish ponds to raise them in, at the end of the year we had a fish fry, and there was a family of otters living nearby that would break into the ponds and fuck up the place.

that sounds so sad yet so fun

youtube.com/watch?v=9IjTSqdNykc

My dad fought with one during Vietnam.
He used to give him shit until the sun came up. Then one day there was an ambush on them and apparently the Viet Cong decided to rig one of these guys up with a suicide vest. He rushed in, flipped his switched- only the switch and fuse just smoked lightly. The monster my dad fought with stabbed him with a bayonet when a bunch of other regular soldiers charged in. While they were shooting each other this guy stabbed the fucker and again and again until he was disemboweled and couldn't speak Vietnamese anymore because blood was coming out of his gills. My dad never gave him shit again after that.
He said it was something that just shook him. Later that day monster said the other one was a woman, you just couldn't tell though because to us they look so different but to him, he could tell. Just could. He says the monster he stabbed was pregnant, she probably never knew. He'll never know though.

After my dad told me that story he just sat there silent for hours. I still don't know what to think of it myself.

Wonder what Star Butterfly or even the Powerpuff Girls react to watching this

They beat the shit out of monsters on a daily basis

>that voice
jesus it's like im watching my high school news interviews with students

The Powerpuff Girls don't really fight monsters anymore...like.
I think they fought that spider person and.........that's it. Oh, and the whole Pandora's box thing maybe but...I honestly can't remember them actually fighting like the old days.

Found out earlier this year that its gone now because funding got slashed, which is even more of a shame because it was the last program of its type in the state.

This might mesh with the PPG Original PPG not that NuPPG shit, there was an episode where the monsters said that fighting the PPG, and surviving, is a badge of honor among monsters.

>durr hurr diz-crime-nation is baaad
wow, what very original message! thank you for your input, totally non-retarded person!

This nail has been hit so many fucking times now all it does is call attention to itself. Discrimination as a wide-spread issue is a non-issue in the first world. You get fired as quick as fuck for saying something racist nowadays. Hell, you don't even need to say something racist, all it needs is to someone accuse you of saying something racist (see that ESPN announcer who was fired because he said guerrilla and people misheard as gorilla). So now every time some faggy-ass, starbucks-drinking, plaid-wearing hipster makes discrimination the message of his work, it feels very, very, VERY condescending.

>I always think my mom was a little disappointed my wife is human. I mean she didn't say it but y'know she wouldn't say it. But like looking back, she would always talk about monster girls, and introduce me to monster girls, and pointing them out, and she's always making those jokes that you know aren't jokes about it. And I'm like sorry mom, but no. It's not like the plan but no. Dad? I don't know he always seem more preoccupied with my sister dating. I don't know if there was a species component to that though.

There's also an episode where they have a substitute teacher that's a monster and they think he's evil but he's actually totally nice.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of shit for saying this but it feels like they took Gumball and dialed down the crazy a bit. I love it.

Holy shit this was boring. This seems to me to be the kind of jejune navel-gazing mundanity that springs from a certain kind sheltered bourgeois raised in a big city.

>Story where he doesn't understand his strength and accidently breaks a kid arm
>Story where he wished he was human so he doesn't feel different anymore

>Episode where people act really weird around him
>But he's not quite sure if it's because he's a monster or not
>No real confirmation or resolution it just kind sticks in the back of his head for the rest of his life

>Japanese monster family
>dad's dressed in a sweater shirt combo
>mom is super short

That's racist

Shit, I'd take 75 bitcoins for shilling on Sup Forums. That's a solid year's pay.

How?

>Story where Main character thinks he found a friend
>He just uses him as a bodyguard the entire time because people are afraid of him

I don't want to see this mixed style of 2D and realistic CGI run into the ground, please CN stop while you can, you still have gumball and the chinese ripoff

>Doing research for school
>Stumbles on website
>Not sure if porn or anti-Monster hate group website

it's created by elizabeth ITO

Who's mom wasn't super short?
For some reason moms are usually short and sweet.
>MC looks up porn
>BMC on Human

This was really sweet an chill but it seems better as a one off rather than a series. Maybe it can have a potential movie?

There are black monsters?

I used to have such a monotone voice

>Google racist Porn
>Laugh my ass off

Fucking bigot. They have a name; Inkanyamba Americans.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting the idea that this is a pilot. It just says it's a short.

It's not as fun when you're a kid and don't really know what's going on at the moment.
I'm still not sure if it was a Neo-Nazi website because it played out just a couple of porn comics I read.

See fucking schmigotted Wendigo Supremacist? Kek agrees.

I like it but it seems like something that can't last more then one season

Also I now want porn of monster kid fucking hot high schooler girls and milf teachers

...

I really couldn't see how this could last for more than half a season, also, gumball gumball gumball gumball gumball gumball...
