And we begin Deodato.

I'm up to date and can read this thread as I comes! Thank you for being human with other things to do.

Feeling a bit ill so probably not gonna be too verbose.

Tell me how your day's been going, folks.

Her ass isn't facing the front of the page, it can't be Deodato

You spoke too soon.

spoke too soon, already page 2

Anywho, Ulti-Mate (tripcode) is on the last two issues of 100 Bullets. He storytimed the entire fucking thing in 3 days

>LA MUJER MARAVILLA
MARVILA

Until recently I was basically a 1AM storytimer exclusively.

I literally posted "that's a big storytime" in that first thread.

>that's a big storytime
UUUU

B-but the official Spanish title of the 70's TV show was "Maravilla"!

Those threads made me realize how cheap that series is in Canada. Each of the 20 issue deluxe editions are only $22 cad. I'm seriously considering picking them up, because ~$20 for 20 issues is insane

Something I wasn't aware of that I found today while reading Perez's run from where we left off was that Inspector Indelicato from our previous WML arc was actually introduced by Perez.

it was La Mujer Maravilla. Marvila was used sometimes on the comics.
Sometimes child WW and Donna Troy were Marvila and Diana as adult was Mujer Maravilla

BTW we skipped over Deodato's first issue, #85 because it's not relevant to this plot.

#88 referenced
here is actually that short Christopher Priest storyline I mentioned. Might post that later on.

That's pretty interesting. I don't know shit about the Spanish language comics localizations.

...

>Deamons
Ah the entity's that are responsible for reporting actions of mortals to the gods with each person having two, one to report the good things and the other the bad if I'm remembering right, I wonder what they will do with this interesting consent?
Hi mum, did you die your hair?

I read Perez's original story about Bana-Mighdall today and they're basically slightly edgier versions of Azz's Amazons.

Extreme warrior culture, literal hatred of men, kidnap men and keep them in "breeding stables", and so on.

We also used to translate characters' real names, so Bruce Wayne was "Bruno Díaz" (this one is annoyingly long lived, to the point it was around as late as Arkham City) or Lois Lane was "Luisa Lane". Thankfully those translations seem to be going away now, even if I have to admit I do look back on them with a tinge of fondness, but only because of nostalgia.

Even if I didn't already know, this page would tell me that this is 1994.

Luisa Lane, that's actually similar to New Super-Man's equivalent to Lois, I think it was Laney Lan.

Nuevo Superhombre when?

I love that re-occurring joke that Laney-Lan isn't a good reporter, it's just that Kenan is so dumb that he keeps giving her good scoops

She mad.

Kenan is simply the best new DC character in years.
And hey, with I-Ching he's actually Wondie related!

I actually can't decide if Hippolyte is being OOC here or not. She's being harsh, but logically it's kind of hard to say she's wrong.

But still something I tend to dislike in superhero stories is "why are you doing superhero shit when you could be solving all the real world problems"

...

...

I feel kind of like I'm reading a WildCATs comic

...

I dunno when this was retconned in, in Perez she was flying around as a little girl, it was even a plot point a couple times that she would try to skip certain rituals by flying.

...

...

Oof, when the 1990s hit, they hit hard

...

...

>tfw my Perez omni finally arrived

Good days lads. Not sure what to pick up with her next, might get that Jill Thompson book.

Whoops, wrong issue

Hell yes.

True Amazon is pretty good. Or give Rebirth's Year One a try.

>criticize Diana's violence
>makes Artemis new Wonder Woman

Will check it out, how's Morrisons book?

Very interesting. It digs up a lot of great concepts that have been forgotten after Perez.

If you liked All-Star Superman (which face it, most people do) I think you'll like it.

Also worth having in physical if just for the amazing art.

Also it's convenient for DC that they have three great origin retellings out just in time for the movie.

>people were shocked when Wonder Woman was "outed" as bisexual by Rucka

Might pick that and the Thompson book up then.

Hoping with the movie we'll get a few more omnis/trades. Really tired of just seeing Rucka//Simone/Azz

Okay, so we skipped ahead about a year or so, how was Ares: Pawnbroker to the Supervillains resolved?

Hippolyte looking domirrific in panel 1.

Was Rucka a writer from the 60s? I can see how that would be a shock. It's not like anyone would raise an eyebrow today though right?

We actually got some good stuff last year!
Even this very run:
a.co/c0rwAUT

Pretty much how you'd expect: Ares reveals himself, they fight, Ares banished to the shadow realm.

The main villain of that arc ends up being the White Magician guy. He almost kills Nessie Kapatellis (Julia's daughter). The Ares babby gets delivered by Diana herself but nothing comes of it yet.

Diana fights Circe and it somehow brings back Themyscira by methods not yet explained.

Rucka is the current Wondie writer. He wrote a critically acclaimed Wondie run circa 2006 and came back to DC for Rebirth.

In an interview he mentioned offhand that Diana was bi, which has pretty much always been the subtext in the comics, considering Themyscira is an island of hot women who've lived together for thousands of years without men.

This of course caused a meltdown on Sup Forums.

...

The 1990's

Retcon time

...

Artemis is more about forceful dominance.

Remember when Sup Forums found lez and bi girls hot? I remember.

We still have cheesecake, THICC, musclefag, beefcake and Gay City threads, why have only lesbians gotten the shaft? No pun intended

...

That's why you don't mess with Etrigan

Shouldn't the statue kind of be the focus of this page instead of a tiny corner dwarfed by Diana's ass?

...

The real shocker was that this was news to anyone. When that interview dropped, anyone who had ever read a Wondy book went "Yeah, no shit.". Everybody else went insane, like they were genuinely surprised by the idea that the princess of the Amazons liked to munch carpet.

This was hard proof that Sup Forums is infested with casuals.

Time travel has never caused a confusing plot before.

>We actually got some good stuff last year!

Never came up on Amazon for me, thanks. Guess i'll order that, Morrison, Rebirth and Thompson.

I remember YEARS ago seeing a page, possibly by Byrne, where it's basically spelled out. I haven't been able to find it but we'll be reading part of Byrne's run soon so maybe it'll be in there.

I know, I know
>Byrne
but like you said it was just confirming what was already known.

I blame Korra desu
It's funny, Sup Forums were the biggest Korrasami shippers when the show started and the biggest whiny babies when it became canon. Same with Olicity (although that one is far more justified, Christ)

The proportions there are just hilarious

Shit man, I'm more used to seeing his name spelled with a "C" instead of a "R" these days

Once something gets popular, Sup Forums hates it without fail.

mai waifu

The colorist decided to take a vacation.

It's kind of calmed down since Rucka's no longer in the spotlight.

I think a lot of people dropped his Wondie because that first arc with Cheetah was slow as fuck and made slower compared to other series because of the alternating with Year One, which is a shame because it picked the FUCK up after that.

Been waiting for you, Artemisfag. Welcome.

That issue was kind of pointless.

We now return to issue #91.

This is Mrs. Sazia who was a minor player in the Ares Bucchanan thing, she's basically just a mob boss.

"Don't count your cows before they hatch"

...

...

She's also kinda Dr. Cyber.

I wonder if sales increased at all once Deodato came on.

Huh? Not that I'm aware of?

hi, it's also storytime night because i'm off

it did? I may have to read it all at once

Well, she's got the whole jacking up her minions with cybernetics thing going on. I may be reaching, but she always came off as sort of a Dr. Cyber to me.

I can't tell you, but the earliest month that Comichron has the actual numbers for is September of 1996, and Wonder Woman 115 sold 45,247. Top seller of that month was Fantastic Four #1, with 313,980

Shit I should have started earlier.

Also reading it all at once is what I did and it certainly made it much better. Especially Year One.

Holy shit, look at that month:
comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/1996/1996-09.html

First DC thing on there is Final Night #1, at 25 in the rankings. So many Marvel #1's

...

The more things change, the more they stay the same

...

I'm trying not to read this with a constant erection and it's only kind of working. I usually have pretty good dick control too.

I guess my ass-man tendencies leave me vulnerable to Deodato.

It's basically Legs: The Comic

Deodato is Brazilian and asses are one of their top exports

...

>Perez makes Heracles repent for his sins and become a god
>WML has him be the evilest asshole ever

...

...

I KNOW.
It's incredibly distracting and my gf is wondering if I'm ready to go here or something.

...

>Honey, I'm in the 90's right now, talk to you later

Every panel is a porno scene about to happen, I swear to god.
No wonder they called this phase "Porno Wonder Woman".
