Is VI really considered that bad

>Episode II better than anything

Of course. It's the only good movie in original trilogy so critics must hate it.

It's judged a little unfairly

Were critics much harsher on movies pre-2005?

There is no fucking way 8, 7, and other movies like jurassic world and Wonder Woman are as good as that rating they have

>4 and 7 - 93%
>5 and 8 - 94%
pottery

I never really minded the Ewoks as much as other people, but doing a second death star was pretty lazy.
Throne room scene is the best scene in the franchise though so it all evens out

This. Episode II is unwatchable trash.

...

>rates positive reviews as fresh
>can be 6/10 and its still fresh despite that being a rather poor score
This website is a joke

Things seemed like they were more about movies than marketing back then. It felt like that to me at least. Like people made movies to try to be actually good while making money instead of making movies that were like INSERT REDDIT MEME HERE LOL MUH SHEKELS PANDERING MODE ACTIVATE

>a movie that hasn't even been internationally shown warrants comparison with others in the series
This picture absolutely REEKS of corporate shill. How haven't these cunts been doxed yet?

VI was a rehash of a lot of New Hope's climatic stuff, and happened after George Lucas decided "audiences no longer care about story, they only care about the spectacle". If it wasn't for the Luke vs Vader/Palpatine stuff, the movie would've been terrible.

The reason it isn't shit on more is because nostalgia, nothing else really compared to StarWars at the time, and no social media when the movie was made/came out.

So when people shit on the prequels, they're conveniently forgetting Return of the Jedi being kind of shitty, except for a few scenes.

For whatever faith you put in Rottentomatoes, I definitely get the feeling that looking at scores for movies released prior to the site's founding probably dont mean much, either due to having too few reviews or the inclinations of those who go out of their way to write an RT-displayed review of a movie 20+ years after it came out. I find it hard to believe that pretty much any of the origin trilogy would score less than episode 9 if you did a true canvassing of film critics.

I think this should be enough to prove you fags that RT scores are trash and people should not follow these paid off """"critics""""

this x 1000

>replace the chance to see the final battle on Kashyyyk with the fucking Ewoks
>make Boba Fett into a bumblefuck retard who dies straight away
>rather than having Luke learn to defeat Vader with the force alone, have him just make another saber at the beginning
>another death star
>Emperor's plan entirely relies on the rebels not getting past his trap

A third death st- sorry, Starkiller Base was even lazier, yet critics lapped it up. Why?

If the next one gets 80% it will be pure pottery

they are pushing agendas now. propaganda films are always highly rated. if you ever read some of the reviews you would know this. they don't even hide it

daily reminder

democracy just favors the dumb masses

ignore all polls and votes

the benchmark is lower because literally every movie is shit nowadays

still better than TFA and TLJ

If the prequels never happened, it would've been shitted on even more. Some of you are severely underestimating just how disappointing the prequels were for so many people, so a lazy attempt was latched onto because people REALLY want to like this franchise.

Hahahahaha no, they're both so mediocre they're terrible, but II is so fucking unbearably bad it's awful not even funny bad, just bad bad

Hatred of the prequels, alongside with hopefulness for franchise. Though if the TLJ sustains a high score - they are either paid off or doing this to promote the current "le stronk wymin, le evil witey" agenda in which they will give anything shitty a good score as long as it panders to that ideology. Even that isn't necessarily true considering absolute dogshit marvel movies get good score (Doctor Strange, being no better than the average DC shitfest got 89%), unless they were also paid off. Really you can essentially throw away the RT score as it's not a good metric.

All the forest shit is legitimately terrible. Luke confronting Vader and Sidious is the only part of the movie that measures up to the other two. Nobody really rates the new movies that highly either, it's all paid or shill reviews.

Doctor Strange was pretty good desu. Way better than any DC film

only if you were younger than 10 when you watched II
otherwise you'd know better to say something that retarded

Nah, it was extremely underwhelming. Also being better than DC isn't exactly an accomplishment.

of course pussies love nu-wars. its made from the ground up to please the modern man

>underwhelming
The fuck

That's too high for AOTC. I don't geddit AOTC is one of the worst films ever created even with the yoda fight. It was so shit.

It's made to sell toys to kids, you dumb fuck.

I don't get why TLJ is rated so highly, it's pretty much a prequel movie, the Casino scene screams Episode 1

I feel like this is the sequel George would have made if he didn't do the Prequels

It was a copy paste beginning story that could've been summed up in some sort of 5 minute montage, it dragged itself out in the first 15 minutes. I watched it with the lads and almost everyone at the end wanted it just to end already. IMO it was just as shitty as DC garbage.

I was alive when it came out in the theaters, it was never viewed as a 'bad' star wars movie until like the late 90's or something, around the time of episode 1. Everybody LOVED ROTJ when I was growing up, the three films were just viewed as all being awesome and (other than the luke/leia kiss, love triangle arc) pretty cohesive.

both wrong. its made to reach the largest possible audience and every demographic from children to adult, female or male, pasty white to midnight purple.

The only thing I take from this is critics don't know what the fuck they want and seem to like pure shit as long as it isn't TPM

This. Neighbors 2 was unfunny garbage it it got high ratings because it unironically shilled hard for feminism

It shouldn't have been an origin film in the same way as every other one. Should've started with him freezing to death on the mountain trying to open a portal then flashed back to how he got there. Would've built up to him being a genius magician better

Only way I can make sense of that score is that some critics were more lenient because they basically removed Jar Jar and added something that looked like Stormtroopers so they convinced themselves it was "more of a Star Wars movie" and gave it a better score initially. The denial was strong back then that George had lost it and these were simply bad movies, Phantom Menace was easier to hate because it's not only bad but unrecognizable and had stuff like Jar-Jar and Jake Lloyd in your face whereas Clones is even more boring and laughably bad to sit through despite having a premise closer to what they thought they wanted so it probably took a while to set in for the fanboys that it was somehow worse.

It wasn't. George wanted something completely different. He was shot down, and then removed from consulting.

Then he released that interview complaining that "They just remade my movie" and Disney called him a hater.

>make Boba Fett into a bumblefuck retard who dies straight away
And? The sucker did not even have a name in the movies. Really don't get the love for him.
