>Apple could potentially find the cash to pull off a $200 billion-plus takeover of Disney — creating a company worth $1 trillion with “almost limitless opportunities in content and technology.”
>“Recently, investors have increased their expectations that Apple could seriously consider acquiring Disney,” RBC analysts Steven Cahall and Leo Kulp wrote in the note.
>“Content is a major focus for Apple, target size is not an issue, and Disney offers an avenue to diversify away from hardware without diluting the strong Apple brand,” RBC’s Cahall and Kulp wrote.
>The M&A rumor mill got new grist last fall, when Apple chief Tim Cook told analysts that the tech giant was “open to acquisitions of any size.” In addition, Apple execs met with Time Warner honchos in late 2015 in a discussion that raised the possibility of a merger — before AT&T moved on its $85 billion bid for Time Warner.
>But would Apple shareholders support such a bet-the-company move? Assuming a 40% premium for Disney, the deal would carry a hefty $237 billion price tag. If Apple investors balk, Disney could consider spinning off assets like ESPN and theme parks to make the deal more palatable.
Looks like the tech companies are now eyeing all the media companies to produce content for them like the AT&T/Warners deal.
Henry Rodriguez
Fun fact the whole reason Pixar is a thing is because George Lucas had to sell the computer division of Lucasfilm to Steve Jobs because of the failure of Howard the Duck.

With that kind of money I wouldn't buy fucking disney, I'd buy my own fucking country. King user, the golden rule ruler.

Depends on what happens. Warners was attractive because they basically cut out all non-media creation services to become a fully media oriented company. Nobody really wants to buy Disney right now because they're tied up with so much shit a tech company wouldn't want to deal with. If Apple is offering enough, Disney could concieveably offload things like ESPN and the Disneyland parks to be a purely media creation like Warners.
Aaron Morales
Imagine all the Apple shilling in the MCU.

I don't think there's much need to worry. It's just baseless speculation, there's no real talk from Apple about it.
The article is basically just "it would be technically possible for Apple to buy Disney!". There's no real reason for a purchase that massive any more than ideas like McDonald's buying Nike or Microsoft buying Verizon.
Michael Martin
NO I'M THE ONE IN CHARGE HERE!!!

>Disney could consider There's all this talk of who could do what and Apple's side of things, but I don't see a peep from Disney themselves. They have no reason to really consider this deal, they could always be wealthier sure, everyone can, but they're doing fine and letting Apple on board would not really change that.
It's not like there's some chunk of Apple consumers who have refused to buy Disney unless this happens.

Yeah there is NO way in hell they'll ever do that. Their cruise line, their parks, are huge, and I really do mean fucking HUGE revenues they have. To "off-load" those would be a completely waste of money

When one company buys out another (especially when we're talking billion dollar conglomerates) the buyer doesn't pour money into the new asset it's purchased. That's retarded and how you waste money. They might restructure some of the many arms from of the Disney purchase but it won't be to bolster another part of the sum.
Anthony Ward
Doesn't this violate every anti-trust law known to man? Not that I care because I'm not a socialist cocksucker but I'm pretty sure there's laws that prevent mergers this big from taking place
William Jones
I don't want anything Apple anymore. Apple doesn't play nice with others on the app playground. Their software tends to make things much more complicated than they are.

Many Disney arms right now are currently bleeding money, like ESPN, and there's also the fact that media is becoming more expensive to produce as time goes on and the influx of cash from Apple would be a very welcome asset.
Wyatt Thomas
>ESPN Who would have thought that having 20 hours of talking heads all saying the same thing would be expensive!
Chase Martin
Distribution via digital and Apple's hardware would also be really welcome with less people going to movie theaters, reading publications, etc. Same reason why AT&T wanted Warners really.
Charles Robinson
Getting exclusive contracts with sports leagues is very expensive. An NFL media contract alone is in the billions

All I could see happening if this does turn out to be happening is more Disney/Marvel deals/promotions on iTunes, and product placement.

The Disney company has never been shy about selling their own shit off if it doesn't work. It would be no surprise if they sold the entire kit and caboodle while working some deal with Apple to keep certain higher ups in place.

On the surface, sure, but a merger between Apple and Disney puts a massive umbrella of their corporate holdings together under one banner. Apple would immediately gain a massive foothold in the television industry due to Disney holdings. Marvel, Lucas Films, ESPN, ect.

About the only good thing Jobs ever did was leave Pixar alone to do their thing after he bought them.
And he's dead now.
If Apple owned Disney it would be a terrible thing for anyone who loves animation.

I hate to ruin your fantasy but Disney cared about the bottom line and profits just as much as the jews who run it now do.
