It only could've been a thing if Equius would've been allowed to change. Since his character had a determined role stemming from his personality, it was basically an impossibilty. Still, it was canon for a while and we got some great art out of it.

It's very unlikely. Considering their personalities she's the worst possible kind of person for him, and the show seems to take him and his character development and self improvement and issues a bit too seriously to punish him through saddling him with Janna. Plus he's the crown heir and looking for someone who'd be a suitable queen, able to support with ruling, maybe bring an alliance with a different kingdom etc
