You're gonna be in for a bad time, friend. The comic is in part responsible for the characterization of the Doomslayer (not doomguy, the new 2016 Doomslayer) as being a legit way to view the protagonist of the DOOM franchise.

I have played it. It's a good game, but it has about as much character as a Megaman game. Because that's what it is. They have distinct designs, but no character.

they have dialogues and actual motivations to help the villians and being there.

that comic they had was really good but I feel you, they built such an interesting universe and then basically threw it away, even if the ending sequence was pretty beautiful to watch

it's so fucking depressing and the only hotline stuff left is in payday, which seems to be trying to develop jacket more but also isn't really canon
every other character is fucked though, they're not getting shit unless dennaton decides to pick up the series again

Midnight Animal looks like shit, we're probably never getting anything relevant to Biker post-HLM 2, and I don't think Dennaton even does anything anymore.
It's rough. At least the games are a good deal of fun to replay.

I played the game, hitbox are terrible on small enemies with little ammo, the save point crystals suck ass for first level.

If it fixed the little things it would be pretty good shooter. Take a very long time to pick up and get in to it.

...you do know that the "dev" was that same artist, right? One guy made the whole thing minus voice acting and music.

I hate the art style, too, but it's kinda... impossible to divorce from the work given that it's all him.

Probably couldn't recount the story of the game since it is so reliant on it being vidya, but you can get a nice slice of life thing going on if you rein in the skeletons.

With season 5, Genndy's shown us he can do some grim stuff.
